  2. - Pick all images depicting an Elite Roman Hastatus. Not Roman Swordsman, our newbies need to know the specific name AND be able to recognize an elite rank. - Pick an image showing the correct hero model (shows a hero icon of Publius Cornelius Scipio). - Type the correct specific name of this unit (shows an icon of Kushite champion temple guard). Now, THIS will definitely make beginners love the game.

  6. Hi everyone, for the 0.28.0 release the plan is to make 0ad available as an AppImage together with the Windows installer and the macOS bundle. That means easier access to a binary for users uncomfortable building 0ad from source when they can't wait for their distribution to update the package. This also means AppImages will be added to the bi-weekly builds used for testing when the support matures a bit. By now you probably already thinking give me the link already, so here the link to where the latest test build is available from: https://jenkins.wildfiregames.com/job/test-appimage/ How to run the AppImage you ask? First you need to install fuse which allows for filesystems in userspace. Maybe the package is called libfuse for you distribution. You will need fuse version 2.x for AppImages. Next download the artifacts and verify the downloads which can be done for example as follows: $ md5sum -c 0ad-0.28.0dev.AppImage.md5sum 0ad-0.28.0dev.AppImage: OK $ sha1sum -c 0ad-0.28.0dev.AppImage.sha1sum 0ad-0.28.0dev.AppImage: OK $ minisign -V -m 0ad-0.28.0dev.AppImage -P RWTWLbO12+ig3lUExIor3xd6DdZaYFEozn8Bu8nIzY3ImuRYQszIQyyy Signature and comment signature verified Trusted comment: timestamp:1752172582 file:0ad-0.28.0dev.AppImage hashed Then make the AppImage executable $ chmod +x 0ad-0.28.0dev.AppImage Then launch 0ad $ ./0ad-0.28.0dev.AppImage Finally report if it works for you or not and what distro you are using.   8. One merchant ship with five garrisoned traders has the same efficiency as two merchant ships, however 1 ship + 5 traders costs 500 food and 500 metal, while 2 ships only cost 200 metal. As all the units count towards your population limit, 2 ships aren't just significant cheaper, but they only incur a population of 2 instead of 6, you'd have with 1 ship + 5 traders. Therefore garrison traders in merchant ships usually doesn't make sense at all and might be only helpful if you have land based trade at first and switch to merchant ships later on.

  9. UPDATE: Version 0.7.4 When retreating, support units will enter the garrison if there are relevant buildings nearby. After building a Temple, the bot will recruit 5 Healers and add them to rush groups, etc. Added individual queues for Siege units and Elephants. As soon as these units become available, they will be recruited with higher priority. Reduced conditions for moving to the next phase and building a second Civ Center.

  11. A bit derived brainstorming: Some mini-challenges would be nice. The unknown player could do this challenge to prove a bit game knowledge. I think of it like this: 1. Host sets up a game in the lobby 2. A few players join, one is unknown 3. Unknown player gets the mini-game to solve 4. The unknown player plays the game and parallel the host could set up the game, balance the teams, new players can join As a side effect one could also test the connection between host and unknown player.

  12. A27 is infinitely superior to alphas like 23. The game could be called alpha 23 celtics. If I'm not mistaken, out of every 8 players, 6 were Celts and 2 were Ptols. Slinger + Ram spam. Whoever got to era 3 first won. We've been working hard since then, the game isn't perfect now, it still needs a lot of work, but it doesn't compare in terms of gameplay/balance.
