  1. Hello everyone, I recently had a few conversations with players on the lobby about "how to improve". When I am being asked, I usually reply with: 1. watch replays 2. watch ValihrAnt videos 3. read this file. This file is what I am presenting in this thread: it's a collection of tips & tricks I initially shared with my friends and then made it public on my GitLab page. It might be incomplete, it might be wrong in some of its parts, it might give importance to aspects that are not or viceversa, etc... I am not in the position of claiming this is a manual to become a good player. However, it might be useful to somebody and I'm happy to share if it helps. The file is divided into three sections: 1. Interface, 2. Logistics, 3. Fighting. Each section contains a list of tips & tricks in sparse order; each tip comes with an extra tip. Cheers Source: https://gitlab.com/mentula0ad/0ad-tips-and-tricks

  2. The fix on the last page has been committed.

  3. Personally, after 0 A.D. I do not perceive the Age of Empires franchise. These games seem so limited now, especially the impassable forests.

  4. Right, I meant in reference to 0 A.D.

  5. Flame units > Infantry Rocket infantry > Mech (Tanks, APCs, etc.) Tanks > Buildings and Bullet Infantry (you can run them over, lmao) Pill Boxes > Infantry Tanks > Pill Boxes Howitzers > Buildings Anything that moves > Howitzers Bullet Infantry = Spam spambamman Dogs > Heroes and Spies Bullet Infantry > Dogs Rocket Anything > Aerial Units Lack of energy > Tesla towers, lmao etc etc etc. and it was all very intuitive. My point is you didn't need a big UI in RA showing you 20 stats of each unit for you to figure out how to use the entities in the game and who they were good at killing.

  6. Red Alert was a game where everything was very well done and intuitive. You didn't need to know a unit' 30 different stats, you just knew what they were good for and that was enough for good play.

  7. It's not a bug, the AI does see everything you do. It does not know how to scout. If you replay a game between actual players you will see only what they have explored. By the way, nice username, brings back memories!

  8. yeah champ melee cav certainly could use an hp reduction. The consular bodyguards get even more armor than champion spearcav when compared to their citizen soldier counterparts, so some armor adjustment might also be necessary to be honest. One thing that should be mentioned about spearcav is they do less damage than infantry spearmen (much less for champ spearcav and about the same for citizen soldiers). It's as if their attack repeat time was increased from 1.0 sec to 1.25 sec without the appropriate damage adjustment. I think 0.26.4 is the last iteration of the community mod before the a27 feature freeze, but these are certainly items I will work on for the community mod during a27, assuming one will be maintained. I am planning on: Melee champ cav nerf (armor + hp), maybe a tiny bit more for consular bodyguards. Spearcav damage buff (to correct the aformentioned inconsistency) Broad melee damage increase, armor decrease (help resolve meatshield meta) Han ministers 1 pop, higher percentage effectiveness. warship classes: light warship(could become a scout ship via upgrade), medium warship, heavy/siege warship, transport ship, and special ship (fireship + future additions to this class). separate need to garrison boats from boat effectiveness. might even try to give boats unit AI instead building AI so that they are controlled like units rather than siege towers. Revised unit specific upgrades.

  9. I think that 12 years ago few people heard about this game. It would be great to have a winter model for buildings for winter maps.

  10. How about making Temples a neutral zone for any player (only units, not siege) where ever you are on the battle field. For an enemy unit to be healed, they will need to go inside the temple whereas allies can still heal around it or inside. To make things more interesting, the owner of the temple is able to see who is garrisoned inside and if any enemy is identified, is able to convert them to his side.
