Thankforpie.i would recommend you to use your range infantry not to attack ram and make sure to ungarrison it and use your ranged units to attack enemy units (if they come) and kill them, or used melle infantry to hold them of. And use Melle Cav to attack ram. I would anyway tell you like Amadeus to attack him before he makes rams. Make houses to block and slow down the rams to gain you time to make a good strategy. And losing barracks and cc doesn't make you lose as you can rebuild and win later. (if your economy is not ruined). Thank you. ☺2 points

"Ulimate guide on how to get very good with Britons really fast" in the topic by amadues. He showed how to win as Briton Civilization in 1v1 in a quick manner. I have be wondering if someone could do the same a Gauls and the advantages and disadvantages and differences between Briton and Gaul Civilization. The major advantages which shows Gaul a better civilization than Briton. And as Gauls and Ptolemies are better in booming , i would also like to know which of these civilizations are better in 1v1. Because of Briton being insuperior in later game . I will also like to know if the Gauls are the same and the technoligical upgrades we must do in the game. Anyone is welcome to answer these questions post any other questions related to it, if the answers or questions are accurate and sutible to the questions asked. I thank in advance for any answers given to my questions1 point

I decide to upload here this video to help noob/low/medium level players to obtain a very good population boom in a short time. Here you have a gaul boom with: 300 population in 14 minutes Will to fight at minute 15:30 All main militar upgrades within minute 15:30 (all armor upgrades, all ranged fight upgrades) Wonder (without upgrade unluckely) All main economy upgrades (all wood upgrades, all field upgrades, berry upgrade, 2° stone and metal upgrade) 4 Barracks total (maybe in late game you can make more) No team bonuses, as you can see in the screenshot I decided not to train more than 57 women and make some men at beginning to counter a possible small rush. At the end my army composition is 30 spearmen + 62 skirmishers + 62 slingers + 4 rams I'm sorry for the upload inconvenience, but I didn't notice my microphone was on so I had to delete some embarassing voices xd1 point

Probably not, this discussion came up before and many casual rts gamers felt it would add too much micro and such. But I am working on a delenda est/balance-mod/age-of-0ad mega fork that will focus on the tastes of more hardcore rts gamers with supply lines, more combat support units such as engineers, etc1 point

I would say Amadeus that the Gauls have faster speed infantry (Skirmishers) and the Naked fantasy ( Sorry for spelling) for attacking .which are more faster which give you faster gathering of wood. So it would be easy to Boom with Gauls rather than Briton.1 point

Thank you Joursloft for the recap between them. I would also like to know because both have same Health for forts 3340 and even though the Gaulish Infantry is very fast there is a time gap to rush ( as Britons are good in rushing against very new players). And would also like you if you could show us a video As Booming with Gauls. Thank you again.1 point

@Altrine There are many big differences: As Thankforpie said the heroes are different, cause Gauls have a very good hero for the fight (+25% damage for soldiers) and a good one for eco (+15 metal every enemy unit killed). On the other hand, britons too have two hero for the fight: Cunobellio (+0.8 life points every second for nearby units) and Caratacos (+15% speed and +1 armor for soldiers and engines). I personally think that Gauls heroes are better gauls have skirmishers instead of slingers at beginning, that are faster in moving. This causes less time to go to bring the wood to the storehouse. gauls have naked fanatics (very fast unit good for rush in early game trainable in P2), while Britons have war dogs (good to kill the alone enemy women, but weak in the frontal fight against the men) Britons have the Crannog, that is very useful in naval maps, while gauls not All eco and about all fight upgrades are the same for EVERY civilization in 0ad You made a mistake: Gauls are better for the late game, because they are faster in booming and they have better heroes. Britons, instead, are better in early game, for a rush for example (I said they are op in late game respect to other civilizations)1 point

So, According to you there are No more Differences??1 point

I don't want to be rude, but I'd like to know if there is progress being made on this topic, or if I could possibly help somehow.1 point

Thanks Jofursloft , it was nice video . It showed practically how to boom with Britons . If someone could show a same video like this in Gauls, it would be more nice1 point

Thanks, Amadus that was really Helpful Guide if playing British , i will also like to know what upgrades in blacksmiths and barracks you should do. . But Gauls are more faster than British if someone could do the same with Gauls it would be more helpful.1 point

Is this the right place to report leavers? Now, this happens quite often, people refuse to resign, pretend net problems or being afk (while still moving units on map running from you in various directions and not replying to you on chat), of course thats after destroying their base.. before they reply no idea how can I win such game, i checked whole map for his units but nothing was found, i also waited 10min or more his nick: Tony921 I have replay but not sure how where is the file or something to attach it (okay i found replay, attached) commands.txt metadata.json1 point

Smiley is right. I agree that defending ram spam can be hard though. Melee units are generally good against them but they also get killed first in a fight because they are in the front line. You would ideally want to have swordsmen ready in advance near important buildings and then keep resupplying during the fight. You can then use the ram trolling trick where you garrison up to 20 swordsmen in a CC or fortress, set the rally point to the incoming ram and then ungarrison all at once to destroy a ram fast. Keeping soldiers garrisoned in a CC or fortress for longer makes it more expensive for the enemy to protect their rams because their support loses health fast. When the attack is too big and it's clear you aren't able to save the building, it might be better to just focus on weakening the support and only getting to rams later when they aren't well protected. Sending women to kill rams when there are skirmishers near is usually a waste. Instead I'd suggest to keep them at the opposite side of the building repairing the building as soon as possible (use the J + Right Click shortcut to request repairing even when the workers carry resources). The same holds for ranged units if there is no support nearby to kill (otherwise you probably want to focus on killing the support units first). Smiley had a good point when he said that losing a CC doesn't equal the end. You probably want to prevent all your buildings from converting to Gaia, which can be achieved not only by having another CC; a military colony, Iberian monument or a Persian palace are cheaper buildings that save you from getting Gaiaed. Keep in mind that rams are premium in price, so if the enemy loses four rams to destroy a CC, it might no longer be worth for him. Don't let losing a CC stop your military plans. Usually a good counter-attack is possible if the enemy sends all soldiers to your base. On a final note, I think we haven't mentioned heroes in the list of ram counter options. Hero cavalry swordsmen are one of the best units to use against rams. I'd even suggest trying to seek and destroy unprotected rams before the enemy sends them into an attack. While you don't let the enemy have too many rams at once, he won't be able to make a decisive push.1 point

Hi, OK, that's what I suspected. Of course, as long as it's still possible to do otherwise, I have nothing against it. I agree. It's a design issue, and for myself, I think rmgen would benefit to have a unique cell object collecting most tile information in it. It would make many things easier and faster, but it's not a ten minutes task. In the mean time, I updated the library to add a warning and a possible workaround. Instead of giving a Cell objects array to Area constructor, gives a Vector2D array holding the same coordinates. There is a zoneToPoints() function to do that (already used in the YPatchPlacer place() method). Instead of: new Area(some_Cell_Array); use: new Area(zoneToPoints(some_Cell_Array)); Friendly,1 point
