  1. Hm, you guys were right, the code was completely bonkers. I should have fixed it by now, let me know after the auto build if you find bugs New format if you want props to sync with a main actor: <animations> <animation file="infantry/general/inf_02.psa" name="Death" id="death1" speed="250"/> <animation file="infantry/general/inf_03.psa" name="Death" id="anotherdeath" speed="250"/> <!-- ... --> </animations> To clarify: -no need to use named variants, just put all your animations inside one <animations> block. -"name" now must refer to an animation type (e.g. "walk", "death", "idle"). -You can use frequencies as before. -"id" is now the parameter used to sync across props. If an animation has an ID, all props will try using an animation with the same name and ID. You may have several animations with the same ID. I'll try adding tests for this later because it's quite annoying to check manually.

  3. I finally got it installed, the AI doesn't seem that tough to me. Against medium difficulty, I had plenty of time to set up a line of defense towers before they attacked. I was out of practice, my efficiency not that good, I was expecting it to be worse. If a new player didn't think to build towers they might have a rough time, but it's not hard to figure out. Decent tutorials would be a nice improvement, though.

  4. To make life easier and prevent waste, I would like the Treasury Committee's approval to take the following steps: to consolidate all of the Flattr funds into our SPI funds, to cancel the Flattr account, to ask Jason to consolidate all of the legacy PayPal funds into our SPI funds, and to let Jason know that once the funds are transferred, he can close the legacy account if he wants to. We currently have EUR 805.18 in the Flattr "wallet balance", up from EUR 619.75 in November 2015. I am attaching a month-by-month transaction log of the last year or so. Based on 2014-2015 data, the legacy PayPal account probably has something like USD 300-400. This is money that legally belongs to Jason and he can be taxed for any extra income that goes into the account. @MishFTW and @feneur, what say you?

  5. Far over the misty ponds cold... Update There is a small chance that this map can be playable , guess it would have to be 7vs1, nah, just kidding, 3vs1 would be okay. What would be most possible its to use the cinematics, i hope i can. Im running out of ideas in this map, don't know if to make more larger the city or just fill it with fauna/flora. If someone wants to give me an idea, i'll glady accept it. The city and the docks needs details. Enjoy it

  6. I have changed the donation page. The edgy Network for Good thingo is gone and a nice standard PayPal button has replaced it. It is also at the top of the page. I would like the Treasury Committee's approval to consolidate all of the Flattr funds and all of the legacy PayPal funds into our SPI funds and to cancel the Flattr account. I'll conduct that discussion in a separate thread.

  7. Actually, I would personally think that Glory or something like that seems like a perfect candidate for being tributable but not bartered/traded I mean you could see it as giving up a bit of your prestige in exchange for other benefits. And I guess you could envision a system where you could have e.g. gold given for trade, but have barter as a simple exchange of resources, without gold. Not sure how realistic/useful that would be, but I think that as long as something isn't making things too complex it's probably beneficial to give future modders as much freedom as possible

  9. I don't have any specific suggestion, but I think it might be nice if we could find something related to the new unit meshes which are likely to be introduced in the next Alpha. It would also be nice to have something that's not related to Rome as we've had plenty of those =)

  10. Thank you for the fast replies! Good to hear most of these things are already on your mind wraitii looking forward to that Unit/mapsize things will probably made by modders anyway so nothing really the game needs most atm anyway i guess was just general questions. Like i said it didnt felt like the units had an advantage while beeing on the walls. Tested it agaisnt AI and it was even champion archers and if i instead send same amount of spear inf out instead of manning the walls i tend to lose way less even tho they were just builder-citizen-inf. I will keep an eye on that maybe it was a false observation. Will probably see if i get some friends to test this out aswell also the DE mod. I already took a fast look into DE and it also looks like it has some really interesting features ! GJ getofyourcellphone

  12. I have for quite some time felt that 0 A.D. deserves a more passionate and active project leader than me. I still care for the project and its progress, but I don't have the same interest in it any more. That might be fine for a semi-regular contributor, but it's not ideal when you're the project leader. Now I've found the perfect replacement: Nicolas Auvray, also known as Itms on the forums and in the IRC channels. He has been a part of the project for several years now, and has proved to be a valuable contributor, a sensible and thoughtful leader, and a good friend. I asked him whether he wanted to take over the leadership, after careful consideration he said yes and we presented the possibility to the team who agreed it was a good choice to move forward with Nicolas as the leader. I have confidence he will revitalize the team and work to guide 0 A.D. through the Alpha process and into Beta and beyond. I will still be around to help out with administrative tasks, being a part of Wildfire Games is too great to miss out on completely. Please also welcome Imarok who just became a part of the team! He's been an active and skillful contributor for quite some time now, so it's nice to be able to encourage that by welcoming him into the team.

  13. @Radagast. Either you use the word quarrel to refer to disagreements or we have different views of the past. I do remember us having differences of opinion in the past if that is what you mean, but if you think of it as quarrels I can't fit that to the memories of the past I have. We do ask people who have shown that they have talent (combined with an understanding of the limits to their talents, one needs to be able to see when one needs to ask for help/testing/someone elses opinion or we will have a lot of unnecessary bugs committed), a will to keep on working and a good attitude to join the team. As far as I know there has not been anything other than that involved in any of those decisions. Speaking of hierarchy/authority I personally feel as if one of the main weaknesses of my leadership is a lack of it, and that we could have been better off if we had had a project leader who would have been prepared to make some more tough decisions. Committees and discussions and trying to get everyone to agree on things are useful to a degree, but in some cases they can be a burden and most certainly slow progress. About reviews: If someone feels as if they have been treated disrespectfully I encourage them to let us know, as that is not something we want to stand for. We do not want the game to become too unstable either though, so thorough reviews are needed, even if it can feel a bit hard to have the things you have worked on be criticized. (There actually has been some in-team controversy suggesting that we are too relaxed in our review process, so there is more than one side to things )

  14. If we have a direct PayPal link removing the legacy PayPal would be fine, I'm not sure what to think about Flattr though. We mainly had it as a way to receive donations via Bitcoin iirc, but that was removed years ago. But on the other hand, if we still receive some donations via them it would probably be less hassle to keep it than trying to get the money to SPI instead. Especially since IIRC the fees connected with getting money from them at least to some degree were/at some stage were fixed, so it would be worth getting more before doing a transfer. Not sure how much we get from them, I remember getting emails with donation info from them, but that was quite some time ago now.

  15. I am deeply honored to become the new Project Leader after Erik, who has been an incredible source of motivation since I first started to contribute to 0 A.D. As a programmer of the game, you should expect my first objectives to be related to the technical side of things. I would like to improve the environment of the programming team, in order to make the development less difficult and stressful; and I also plan to focus my programming activity on the libraries we use, and on communicating with the teams who create those. If we improve that environment, we can recruit new people and have more workforce to push the game towards Beta. However, I also want to be an actual leader for the project and its community as a whole, so feel free to contact me if you think something is needed in some area. I will be far more active in the forums than before, and I'm eager to discuss with you all! Finally, I would like to thank everyone for being part of such a great community. The game would be nowhere near its current state without you, and we can accomplish even more great things together!

  17. According to the design documents, yes. But these things are not set in stone, we're not a big company cutting features to save money/time. I guess if someone would insist on working on triggers, it would be hard to stop him/her ;p (some wishful thinking on my part there).
