With recent games such as Red Dead Redemption, Left 4 Dead 2, and The Last of Us being hugely successful, we have decided to change the overall direction of 0 A.D. so that it can appeal to a wider audience. We have many gameplay changes planned, such as removing the Roman faction and replacing it with an AI controlled horde of zombies. This transformation will probably take a few weeks to complete. The name Apocalypse of the Dead works well with our current title 0 A.D. because it means we don’t have to purchase new domain names. The ‘0’ therefore signifies the start of the apocalypse.   3. Just to add my tuppenceworth to the discussion on German tribes. I agree that the Visigoths and Ostrogoths had enough of a different impact on history that they should be seperate factions. Also just on the general numerousness of German tribes, I'm fine with this as I think that is one of the things that characterised that period. The game just wouldn't be the same with only one or two German tribes marauding around, now 4 or 5 different German tribes, each going off in different areas and fighting Romans, Byzantines, each other

  7. At a later point we could divide into horror-fantasy and magic-fantasy. As to which monsters are horror and which not is a difficult question though. Would be useful to join our list in the first post - can you copy it in there? Converting animals, you are right. Shapechanger.Flying carpet.Magic items.Portals.Alchemists. (though they might fit into the historically accurate mods too)

  9. If you wish to join forces, Veridagorin and my humble self also have plans for a fantasy mod. May you join our Council of Modders? Do you have GitHub already? We can setup a repository to keep things modular. The repository can be called repository, can't it? Any wish? (theoretically multiple fantasy repositories are thinkable, e.g. for different settings/timeframes just like for 0AD. e.g. Harry Potter like, LoTR-like, or general magic.) At first I think a general fantasy repository would be fine. The planned mod manager should allow to define mod packs out of all our assets on the fly. (to avoid redundancy) So if you are fine with fantasy or magic or have any other idea, then we will arrange. Do you wish to join our group PM too? (notifications can be turned off)

  10. 0 A.D. is there to mod (at least for me) and therefore you're welcome to mod. There are people around who have some similar ideas, av93 for example is working on a battle for wesnoth mod.

  12. I'm from Athens, Greece, which means I'm at gmt +2/+3 I believe, depending on the time of year (with the changes applied to save electricity). My nickname comes from the Bad Religion song of the same name, not directly from the bible. I've always been lazy/weak at finding good short names, such as usernames and song titles, while on the other hand I've got no issues writing long texts or several songs a day.

  14. As promised here is the blend template with a basic IK rig. Just animate in a new "action" in action editor, and export! Here's a small video showcasing how the armature works (pretty basic and straightforward). For more information on how to export animations to 0AD go to this tutorial For anyone interested, the solution to get the armature working was to export the original MAX armature to SMD, and then import back to blender with an Import SMD addon.   15. Ah, you sum up the ideas very good. I agree that in everything the team will make, it's better for all to be flexible rather than hard-coded. That way, people can modify these values as they see fit, when doing their own mod or just messing around with the variables. Let me add on the mercenaries - if a map will have infinite mercenaries, then in time, there should be a sort - of either an assimilation of cultures or total rebellion/ defeat of the culture who hired the mercenaries (something akin to what happened with the Late Western Roman Empire). On overreproduction, may I suggest though that the children spawning be tied up to a certain number of houses so that if like, 20 houses are reached with 20 children, no more children is spawned. Something like that.
