Useful links: How to Import/export assets and bake AO maps in Blender3D Blender 3D UV unwrapping tips How to export animations from Blender3D to 0AD Tips & requirements of the engine: - Approx triangle count for buildings: small 2k-5k, mid 4k-6k, big 6k-8k, wonders 8k-12k. - The engine uses .DAE (Collada) format for models and animations. - The engine does not render double-faced polys, so if you want a polygon with both faces rendered, you need to duplicate it and flip the normals. - The engine does not tile the textures like blender does, so when UV mapping, keep the UV islands within the texture space. - We use two UV coordinates, one with overlapping UVs for diffuse, normal/parallax and specularity and another non-overlapping for AO maps. - Building models need to extend below the ground (-Z axis) because it can be visible when the building is constructed in uneven terrain. - To get the correct scale it is very useful to import a building from the game into blender as a reference.   2. btw -- I wish we could get rid of the blackness that reflects in the ocean when we zoom out for screenshots. Also, need to do something to prevent the map from disappearing behind the skybox.

  3. Macedonians used many units of different native and allied/vassal/mercenary cavalry. However most of them were either using javelins or lances (sometimes even shorter sarissas) as their main weapon, so gameplay - wise it would be kinda pointless to represent all of them.

  4. Normal infantry shouldn't be able to attack walls in the future. Next to that, wall towers are way cheaper. I dare you to build a number of wall towers for the same price as a castle, garrison them, and see what's stronger.

  5. I can point you to more 3dmax youtube tutorials and videos. I think I even have a dvd somewhere (or used too). I'd like to get you to successfully export a .dae file. Why don't you try exporting a .dae from that ox cart max file I sent you and try to replace the chariot file again. Let see what breaks Enrique would like to try exporting a humanoid .dae file as well. I think you could help us with that If we can get the ox cart working. Lets try this next. How is your documentation of all this going? EDIT: Nevermind - you and Enrique are already on it!

Some parts are older than others, I've found (several references to Pentium 4 processors, but it also mentions Sandy bridge in the next paragraph…) Anyhow I'm about 70% through reading it and I'm finding it really amazing so far, particularly about optimizations that the compiler does on its own, which really highlights how clever modern compilers are. edit: there also are some assembly guidelines later on which I haven't yet looked at but might be interesting for performance critical code.

  7. Perhaps the mayor can calc the favored gathering rates. The group then should automatically determine how to achieve these rates for example by checking available technologies, check which resources to gather (and also bushes vs farms etc) and finally check whether the storehouse is effectively placed and if not than build a better placed one. The third point should also be kept in mind whilst deciding the second.

  8. Have you ever try purchasing Agoge tech? If you do, they are the best hoplite in the game. Now here's some picture: Plus with some martial skill, weapon and armor research and you'll get the best Elite hoplite in the game. Oh, here's more picture but this time it is the citizen hoplite not the full blooded SPARTANS!
