  1. Campaigns and scenarios are something communities just love doing :-) So it's most definitely an important thing to have! (it also allows people to make new game modes like 'Castle Wars' where units are spawned automatically at a castle/fortress, and 'Defend' games where invasion forces are sent every so often)

  2. Umm...I live in India, so I know what I'm talking about, believe me. Heavily populated areas are terrible, hygiene, if you don't count the upper castes, is not anything great. People spit in open public places, like here or here. A walk through an Indian city will tell you everything. If we're healthy its because our immune systems have learnt to adapt to extreme circumstances

  3. like i said before, i think this is a brillaint idea for the Macedonians, and is a great compromise between all the iconic buildings that they had historically, especially since this one was so important to Alexander himself. 'cuz lets be honest, he's pretty much the only real pan-Macedonian ruler that there ever was and everything went to pot after he died

  4. i see. that certainly WOULD help the Germanics and some other factions stand out more. perhaps there could be an Anglo-Saxon one which "diverges" into a more Saxon or Angle path? or, if you will, become Saxo-Angles as opposed to Anglo-Saxons

  5. Mythos, I wasn't saying you were wrong. I don't see anything wrong there (though I don't know a lot about HIV specifically). Romulus, I suggest you read this article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_common_misconceptions

  6. A (relatively) easy way to do so is by creating a (very) high poly mesh and then bake a normal map (=bump) from it. That normal map is used for the low poly model. Some basic info: http://www.chrisalbeluhn.com/Normal_Map_Tutorial.html

  7. If any culture could include divergent factions, it's the German one. Soooo many tribes and confederations that were powerhouses and split off from each other. Could easily have a Goths faction that splits into Ostrogoths and Visigoths at the City Phase in some way or another.

  8. If part 1 of 0 A.D. will just be a skirmish/multiplayer game where you can also make new units/maps in the editor, not many people will start modding. Triggers will attract many scenario designers... So many historical scenarios to recreate.... In my opinion, triggers should be part of part 1. I for one want to start making scenarios with triggers.

  9. Many fans are asking about campaigns (or scenarios with triggers). I myself am also a big single player fan,I don't enjoy multiplayer games that much. But if I can 'relive' history, instead of random deathmatches I'm excited. I wish that triggers make it into part 1. I think people expect it. If we don't add campaigns, at least allow the community to start working on them.

  10. Divergent factions technically did survive in the form of a tech pair choice to the City Phase between the Britons or the Gauls for the Celts, and the Seleucids are able to chose from two different pairs of champions in the City Phase, so divergent factions aren't exactly gone, but the concept should be used sparingly if at all.

  12. I just noticed that I haven't answered to this yet. Spending too much time fine-tuning the GC doesn't make sense at the moment in my opinion. Maybe there's some more API functionality in the next SpiderMonkey versions or we change our code to produce less or (hopefully not) more garbage. Btw. I've attached the current WIP patch with incremental GC to ticket #1886.

  13. Hi guys, hope you are doing fine, i finally found time to visit forum and post at least something new, but it will deserve more patience and time to browse around to keep up the pace with you. Here, to present you something new. I plan to make this serie of artworks for you, since now there is only one, but next one are slowly prepared to be on paper. And first of the sketches mentioned. Greek fleet standing face to Persian storm at Salamis, decisive victory that influenced even the present times. Coloring deserves many details and strong contrast, to underiline all the circumstances. Now I go to take a round across forum, to see what is new. Stand by!

  14. I think that three Germanic factions would be enough at first : Rhine-Weser Germans (in two main leagues, Franks and Saxons)Oder (Suevus) Germans (in two main leagues, Suevan then Alemanni, plus Marcomanni, Quades, Longobardi)Eastern Germans (in two then four branches: Goths, and Vandales/Burgundians).Also, let's not mistake 3rd-5th century Germans for 8th-11th century Germans : sometimes not the same technology and warfare.

  15. You guys should check out Mount&Blade: Warband. The original game itself is a medieval combat simulator (using your mouse to do both controlled attacks and blocks with your character using mouse movements). But there are really cool historically-based mods that do date around 0 A.D. and other locations and dates of history.
