  2. Hi @Euclid, welcome to the forums. Nah, that's easy (or medium difficult). There's vids on youtube where they try to beat 1v5 very hard AIs. I'm a casual player and usually go with one ally against four medium enemies (putting them in two teams spiked the difficulty, haven't tried with one enemy team of four). With random behaviors that can play out very differently, from everyone waiting at their base for you to all four attacking you simultaneously... The AI also doesn't play optimally, they sometimes have idle units and often go very long, inefficient ways with their units; so one doesn't have to play perfectly, either. I guess you're not at your peak yet. Have you noticed the different gathering rates of the units? Knowing that helps your eco. There's plenty of guides for build order, eco... Or just ask here. Maybe this thread gives you ideas of how to counter eles:
  3. After playing for about 200 hours, and assuming one is not using cheats (which I don't enjoy because they make the game boring - in my opinion), I feel there are two overall improvements that could be easily made to the game play (no major mods required): (1) the difficulty rating is skewed toward being too difficult (based primarily on how fast AI civs gather resources relative to the human). I have gotten pretty good at playing and I really enjoy the challenge but I don't think a human being can beat the AI players at "medium difficulty." In order to beat AI at that level, it seems like one must also be a computer and play the game "perfectly." Shouldn't that challenge be relegated to the most difficult level of game-play? (2) Any civilization with war elephants has a lopsided advantage over any civilization that doesn't. If I don't have war elephants and the other side does then I figure it's not worth playing against them since my chances are slim to none over beating them. Overall however, this is by far the best builder/empire battle game I have ever played. Setting the game on random for everything creates so many interesting possibilities that I never get tired of playing it (which is a first for me at the age of 60!). If the two previous concerns were addressed, that would make this game the best ever in its genera.

  5. A few things to point out: I came back 5 days ago to 0AD, and as kun0 correctly says, I am using a new account, but I have not misrespresented my level to anyone. The game in question was balanced by SaidRdz, who knows who I am. Kun0 and aronramirez attacked my ally 'Sabloku' who held 2v1 like a champ for a while, and then I came a whole minute or two late. Kun0 was already not happy at that point. He and his ally had failed a 2v1, they were low on pop, and were defeated easily afterwards by my ally and me. He was so angry that he asked in open chat if I was DoctorOrgans (as a type of insult, I suppose). After the game ended it was me and not others who told kun0 that I was Acero. I apologized to kun0 if the confusion about my identity made him angry, I even offered him my spot on the next game to make it right. I also told him that it was in part his fault to just assume my level without asking me who I was before the game or during the game. I still think kun0 is one of the coolest players in 0ad and like him very much. Greetings.
  6. Our friend is now 18 years old! In most countries that means voting, driving, drinking...
  7. Yes, my friend, I'm certain your enemies tremble with fear.
  8. Yes, I had enemies just walk/ride by. And no, if you fully garrison it. Of course then it's not an unforeseen attack...
  9. But 20 cavalry javelineers with just one (1) defensive upgrade (or 15 with all three upgrades) can capture up to 6 barracks right under a fortress without one of them dying... So the fortress is pretty much useless against unforeseen attacks, no? I don't mean to say that the fortress itself can't be utilized in a great way. But often times it seems like a waste of resources, since it doesn't provide enough value for the effort you have to put into building it... (Well, maybe I'm just bad at the game and still need to learn how to use it, idk)
  10. What tecs? They got removed, so should that part of the description.
  11. Someone said "you have to give time to time"
  12. There will be another RC when we are in the release process. The release process from which 0ad-0.0.27-rc1-27645 originates got halted.
  13. Will to fight gives ships +25% damage, I feel the Han are lacking in that department.

    Team?

I want to make a late antique mod for 0ad, but I DON'T know how to model and I'm a bit reluctant to learn, so I want to make the mod so I plan to make a discord server to make a modding team, so , make a group, add members and do it. What do you think?
  15. Probably see my inline comment: https://code.wildfiregames.com/D5227#inline-101992
  16. As it is commonly known, @JC (naval supremacist) is the strongest player in 0 AD who only ever loses due to incompetent teammates or due to too much honour to be an ecobot. We can logically derrive from that, that he wins all 1v1s in which his enemy makes a significant number of cavs. Noone has believed him, but now there is a dedicated youtube channel that provides the empirical proof.
  17. Weird I thought there was a more recent update of spir-v @vladislavbelov
  18. A year has passed since the release of 0ad-0.0.27-rc1-27645. https://releases.wildfiregames.com/rc/ Currently (May 13, 2024) it is rev. 28088 (+443). Wouldn't it be worth releasing rc2? Regards PS. The last update of 0ad-spirv.zip was in August 2023. The currently running game (rev. 28088, Debian, Vulkan, NVidia 1660, driver 550.76, map: Elephantine, 0ad-spirv: 0.27.21) displays harmless (in my opinion) errors: ERROR: CCacheLoader failed to find archived or source file for: "shaders/spirv/compute_upscale_fsr.xml" ERROR: Program 'spirv/compute_upscale_fsr' with required defines not found. ERROR: "USE_DESCRIPTOR_INDEXING": "1" ERROR: Failed to load shader 'spirv/compute_upscale_fsr' ERROR: CCacheLoader failed to find archived or source file for: "shaders/spirv/compute_rcas.xml" ERROR: Program 'spirv/compute_rcas' with required defines not found.
