niektb
I made a new texture for the Han Elite Infantry Archer and would like to get some feedback. The white archers are for comparison :This is what I used as reference:I didn't add the helmet in the reference as I can't model. Enrique
Niektb that's looking awesome, man. You're getting really good at texturing! Very sharp and clear details, the only thing I can think of to improve them is adding a little stronger wrinkle shadowing, it's a bit soft right now.Keep it up!
niektb
Oh wow, didn't expect to get such positive feedback! You mean some wrinkles at the legs or in general?
Enrique
Yeah, a bit on the pants (they do not seem to have any right now) and darkening (or lighten the outward wrinkles) of the top part. But be subtle, don't go crazy with it
auron2401
I'm not sure, but that reference is probably the attire for hunting?
wolflance
Superbly done! The leather helmet can be transplanted from melee infantry (i think), but those long feathers....Speaking of which, the reconstructor Jing Ming call this outfit hǔ bēn (虎贲), which is one of the Palace Guard unit during late Western Han Dynasty (They are simply renamed Qi Men guard). That's why I said before they *could* be mounted. Edited October 9, 2014 by wolflance
wolflance
If you want to go for a "heavy armoured archer", you can use this design as a reference. Right shoulder guard is purposely removed to not interfere with the bow-drawing movement.(Although I think the fish-scale body armour pictured above is reserved for officer, while normal soldiers use lamellar armour)
niektb
An update from my texturing businesses. I made the blue somewhat darker to better match the reference and emphasized the shadows a little more:
Le Druide Gaulois
Looking great so far. I like the fact they have different faces, also.
Stan`
An update from my texturing businesses. niektb
An update:I roughened the legs by adding more wrinkles and reworked the underclothing (visible near the neck). Is it better?
Stan`
I can't see from here but did you add some on the trousers ? Also I'm curious on how you did it for the neck
niektb
Yes, I did add some on the trousers.Actually I just copied that over from another chinese infatry texture and modified it to fit my needs.
niektb
Does anybody has suggestions to improve it or should I go ahead and implement it?
Stan`
It looks fine by me maybe a bit too much saturated on the legs but I believe it´s intended.
niektb
Could it be related to the stance of the sun (if you compare to the first image of this topic)?
Stan`
Maybe could you launch a skirmish and recruit them aside of other units ?
niektb
You mean that I should take a comparison shot?

wackyserious
Attempt to upgrade the Han clothing textures to have proper UV dimensions with the new mesh, this is using the m_tunic_short.dae mesh. @Stan` @wowgetoffyourcellphone @wolflance As seen in the interpretation below, the loosening of the pants starts above the footwraps Planning to: change footwrap to white and pants to a dark tone just like below
