I played MTW2. But I don't trust MS to go online with their product and under Linux I don't think, that I can run MTW2 so smoothly.

Yes. If not against history. I think, that While Italian factions cold be done the way they were, Hungarians aren't the case.
-
Problem with Huns is, that their empire disintegrated soon after Atillas death. And that was even before fall of West and thus out of scope of mod.
If you don't like Avars, what about Gepids, Heruli or Rugians? Or confederation of these?
I think, that it would be still better to prefer accuracy before uniqueness. Avars simply lived in large area.
I think, that Hungarians and Vlachs could simply have same units in first period but still be separated nations.

I think, that first period should be Avar instead.

Those Osprey books are your scans?

I've found these articles.

What about add grek fire trowers and/or greek archers?
Greek archers are just Psiloi.
I thought about such machines, but I don't know extent of use and if it wouldn't be too powerful.
-
nice links, especially the powerpoint But I think there were a few spelling mistakes (ie ragained)
That is just detail. It wasn't my work, so I can't do anything with it.
I'm seeking someone who can speak Greek, so he can correct any error or finish translation.

I know. I mean, it would be sufficient if Burgundy were of Frankish origin.
You ordered your Osprey book?
Which it is? I have "Osprey - Men at Arms 144 - Armies of Medieval Burgundy 1364-1477"

Emperror Maurice reformed Byzantine army. He is considered to be writer of Strategikon.
He, for example, used unequal numbers of troops in each group, so enemy couldn't easily calculate size of army by calculating banners.

Hm, I think, that Burgundy along with Grance, Germany .... should be subfaction of Frankish faction.
Actually, Burgundians were independent nation. Hm, then they should differ from Frankish.
-
I don't think so. It would be one model which would be just scaled.
I've read somewhere here message from WFG staff, that this would be possible.
-
Well, I have Osprey books about Byzantine Empire. And I think, that I have quite a knowledge about Byzantine Empire.
Maurices reforms were so good, that it allowed Byzantine Empire to survive without many modifications. That is why their army doesn't change so much.
-
Good idea. I forgot Pronoiai Allagion.
How it is in singular? Proniar?
Well, i 4th period there could be many mercenaries.
-
Ah, I misunderstood it.
There could be better ways how to solve it.
Will it be possible to have something like timed periods? It would fit to For Honour and Glory mod. Each period would last for certain time equally for all civs.
-
Nope. Units are still almost same.
I mean, I was lazy to type them again. So, units from previous periods remain in latter if not said otherwise.
-> means upgrade or rename.

Is this going to be another case of Age II requires 900 food and 300 gold. because that sucks bad
I see no better way how to put strategic thinking into game without making it like Settlers. This style of game could be pretty annoying.

They really are. But these didn't fight for Spanish. Spanish had own ordes like Calatrava, Santiago and Alcántara.
Medieval Total War 2

I prefer Medieval period.
While CA screwed historical accuracy (as typical), MTW2 has lot nicer models as there is no longer war of the clones but soldiers in unit differ.
While it provides new features, it still needs some modders to do their work to polish and further improve it.
MTW compared to some mods like Fall of Rome and Med Mod or RTW compared to RTW: Total Realism and Chivalry: Total War can be considered just demo-versions. Really.
