Agreed.

I like the IPB style the most, except for these smileys: :P BTW, the "Other" style is from Trillian.

Ah, I see. I thought Paul must've gotten confused or something - the joke's on me!

What are ya'll doing for Christmas?
CodeOptimist replied to Uppy's topic in Introductions & Off-Topic Discussion
Our family almost always has a nice, quiet Christmas together. We'll probably just sleep in, open some presents, eat a special breakfast (either homemade pancakes or homemade waffles, mmm!) and relax for the day. -
Me? How'd you know I'd post in this thread?! LOL, that is hilarious. Great find

I found out about 0 A.D. because of the Rome at War project and the PR surrounding it. Thus, I voted for "From a website (gaming)" as I probably found out about RaW from Age of Kings Heaven.

Yes, larger textures require more storage space, and video/system RAM when loaded in-game (IIRC).

It matters to Tolkien fans (er, freaks)

So, Silenril, what does your name mean exactly? I think Jordan's guess is probably closer than mine.

I believe he meant to ask what the solution was.

I Finished it this week!

No, it's not hard. It's actually quite simple, in my opinion. Here is an excellent guide aimed at someone who has never built a PC before. It breaks it down step-by-step and explains everything thoroughly. In fact, I think that choosing which parts to buy is harder than assembling the components themselves - seriously! What's great about building your own PC is that you can customize it exactly the way you want, and you often save a good amount of money over retail stores. I've never bought a PC at a retail store or online retail store - my current PC was a barebones system I got at a local shop and upgraded through the years. Not quite as good as building one myself, but still way better than buying it retail. If and when I get a completely new PC, I'll build it completely from scratch. Nice rig, Brian! That should last you for quite a few years to come. -
Pacers vs. Pistons/Fans Brawl
CodeOptimist replied to Natedog's topic in Introductions & Off-Topic Discussion
I agree with this one hundred percent. I voted "Other" because I think that it's both the fans' AND the players' faults that this happened. Throwing beer and other items at the players is completely unacceptable, as is losing your mind and going into a blind rage. Artest could have kept his cool, acted like a professional, and let the fan get in trouble for what he did. Instead, he did just the opposite and acted extremely immaturely and extremely unprofessionally. In my book, both sides are equally to blame for this. Furthermore, all these complaints by Artest, the "Player's Union", and other entities that the punishments were too strict is completely baseless. Brace yourselves, here come the lawsuits. (groan) I would be fully in favor of this, as well -- in fact, I think that some stadiums do this already. -
Hello, Silenril! We've been getting quite a few new members who are Tolkien fans lately I assume your name is in Quenya/Sindarin? With my (very) rough memory of Elvish, I would guess that it means something to the effect of "Star of the West", or "<Something> of the West"?

This is a known issue; Tim will be fixing it soon.

I had turkey, stuffing, gravy (mmm, my Dad's recipe), mashed potatoes, vegetables... and of course, pumpkin pie. The pecan pie was good as well.

Welcome to the community, Michael! I'm sure you will enjoy your stay here. -
Praveen (aka Childhood Trauma) is a "retired" WFG artist. His posts were always goofy, which is what Josh is referring to.

Happy Thanksgiving, all! We're having some people over at our house tonight for a nice dinner (and dessert ).

This probably has been asked before but..

Very well said. A hybrid engine opens a whole new "can of worms"! Plus, a full 3D engine looks better. -
Yes, flame wars are funny, but they tend to ruin the quality of the community IMHO. I'd rather be in a community like this one where the guidelines are enforced and everyone contributes meaningful thoughts and ideas. That's not to say it's not funny though

A typical flame round looks something like:

LOL We've all got flame-retardant suits on around here - don't bother wasting flamethrower cartridges.

Wow, we're getting the whole crew of people that know Dnas (or are related to him )! Welcome! What are your interests, hobbies, and so on?

Welcome, Sirindu! I'm sure you'll have a great time here as part of our community.
