  1. You haven't played with these bad boys, I see.
  2. There are some skirmish maps with hostile Gaia camps spawning units 20 meters near your starting base. They are quite annoying, and you should avoid these maps.
  3. CS archers are indeed pretty bad. Archer civs are having a really bad time before they get access to better ranged units. Champion archers are good, but expensive. To use archers effectively, you need to create and maintain distance with the enemy. This can be taxing on APM and ultimately useless, as infantry archers are slow.
  4. https://mod.io/g/0ad/m/delenda-est#description The above mod is for when you get bored of the vanilla game, and want to try something different. Otherwise, to know which mod is good, you need to play the base game first for a while and figure out what you like, or don't like about it.
  5. See that house on the middle left of the CC? What if I had a couple of builders right where that house portrait covers the house? How annoying it would be if I had to bring the camera down, just to see those builders?
  6. Hasn't this blur been fixed in R28? It's one of the new features of the latest release.
  7. https://gitea.wildfiregames.com/0ad/0ad/ The above page throws "500 Internal Server Error" response.
  8. @BeTe I'm bit biased here, as it is my mod and all, but you could try installing the Imperia Vetera mod for alpha 9. Just to see if that old "look" will suit your eyes. It's there in my signature, or here if you aren't logged in. You'd need the Alpha 9 exe in order to install it. I'm assuming you have Wine installed if you're playing Brood War on Linux. https://releases.wildfiregames.com/0ad-r11339-alpha-win32.exe Of course, there is no Multiplayer, and the features are pretty bare-bones. Nevertheless, the game did look different at one point in time.
  9. My honest advice is to seek assistance of a medical professional. This might not be related to the game.
  10. As far as I know, there isn't. I keep my settings at Medium (with shadows at Low) and there isn't any lag with R28, except in extreme late game with hundreds of units on the screen.
  11. I prefer looking at original AoE2 and AoM era graphics, as those just work for a RTS. Too much detail, and you get washed out or saturated assets that are hard to look at. Sometimes, it takes too long to recognize which structure you're looking at, which only amplifies the eye strain. Just take a look at old AoM videos. The art style was amazing for its time.
  12. My personal choice would be the Romans. Reason being that they have strong melee unit base, and solid cavalry. Their ranged units are lacking, for the lack of a better word. Marian Reforms unique tech can be powerful when timed correctly. I prefer their playstyle the most, and their units are very detailed. If I were more objective, the choice would be either Seleucids or Athenians.
  13. This would 100% improve single player experience. We can also make the AI focus on certain units in future campaign scenarios, similar to how other RTS games have done it. Example, you would have 3 AI opponents and each opponent will focus on his own unique army. So, the player will have to adjust to 3 different armies at once and choose wisely which army to defeat first.
  14. Releaae March 28th, 2026: - Champions are now stronger and worth the cost. - Two new trainable heroes. Demetrius for the Hellenes and Caratacos for the Celts. - Population cap is back to 300. - The AI is now stronger, with more massive attack waves.
  15. @willbont Have you tried disabling GPU Skinning? What about switching from OpenGL to Vulkan rendering (if your GPU supports it)? Are there any warnings or errors in the game logs? The below can't be true, as mods are not found within the game's root directory. They are installed in your My Documents/My Games/0ad path.
  16. If you don't like the Delenda Est mod, you can disable it in the "Mod Selection" screen. There are currently no official campaigns, only some tutorial mission as a demo campaign. You can play some custom Scenarios, Skirmish maps and Random maps. And multiplayer, but I wouldn't recommend that until you can beat the Very Hard AI first.
  17. I wouldn't say it's very low, but decent. Very low maybe for a player who can be considered a veteran of the game or "pro". But yes, there are still some issues. The AI doesn't counter-react to player's strategy, doesn't heal its units well, and still sends his gatherers to distant resources. Another major issue is the grouping logic, as the AI keeps sending attacking units in a straight line. Oh, and the classic one: it doesn't use Civilians only for gathering food and wood, and CS only for mining.
  18. Even that one cheat is enough, when combined with all-seeing eye of the AI. We don't need more. I am actually fine with the difficulty of AI. Medium AI should play like a half-competent player, that's the point. It's just a fair challenge without any bonuses. People just got used to weak AI in the past releases, so they will have to adjust their strategy. Proper booming is now a hard requirement to beating the Medium AI, and players need to learn how to do that. It should be nearly impossible to beat the AI 1vs2, otherwise the AI is very weak. Honestly, it's boring to always curb-stomp the AI without a challenge. People need good introduction to the meta, and your changes to the AI achieve that well.
  19. 0 A.D. does cosmetic uniqueness well, by making every building and unit of each civilization look different. Champion units are nothing special, they are only stronger versions of basic unit templates. Also, each champion template is the same across civilizations, with some small differences unique to some civs. Again, the game treats uniqueness through special civilization-specific bonuses and upgrades. Every unit template is the same and has identical base stats. If an Elite spearman of your civ looks like he's stronger than an Elite spearman of another civ, he just looks stronger. They are the same unit template, so they have the same stats.
  20. Some Rome vs Rome civil wars It was tough for a while, if the AI managed to get its army together before attacking, it would've won on that first push. Grouping logic needs to be re-implemented. RomeVsRome_M.zip
  21. They are much more unique now than they used to be, the exception being maybe in A23 and before. Some civilization have more unit variety, others have stronger upgrades for fewer units. Analogies being Kushites for the variety and Spartans for stronger, but fewer unit types. Balance is a hard thing to master, so this game tries to offload uniqueness onto civ-specific upgrades and bonuses. If you think civilizations are mostly the same in 0 A.D., then you must believe that civilizations in AoE2 are almost identical.
  22. 1100-1200: Pretty noob plays, always loses, except VS other noobs like him. 1300-1400: Can win if he really, really tries to, but still pretty noob. 1500-1600: Yeah, he is still a noob alright. Will lose a lot of 1v1 games, but win some 4v4s. 1700-1800: Finally starts winning some games, but it's still considered a noob by peers. 1800-2000+: A good player, someone who can be considered regular in 4v4s. 2000+: A literal God of 0 A.D., probably played the game since A17. As you can see, there is a fine line between being good and being a God here
