Two-Gendered Citizens Mod (Please Test!)
Deicide4u replied to wowgetoffyourcellphone's topic in Game Modification
Bumping this to ask is it possible to make this compatible for A27? For all of us who like to use only economic units for...well, economy. EDIT: This mod can very well check some of the boxes from this thread: -
Roman counter to Selucid elite cavarly?
Deicide4u replied to Casaul player's topic in Gameplay Discussion
Yes, it is. But, has your friend tried Silver Shield Pikemen with Chariots yet? Pikes hold the line while Chariots destroy everything from afar. Each civ has some OP units. Roman infantry is very OP when used effectively. Try using the Testudo formation (switch formation usage from "Walk/Patrol only" to "No override"). Testudo keeps all your infantry swordsmen in a very packed formation, slicing and dicing any nearby enemies in seconds. Add some Centurions to the mix for extra DPS. Centurions can be upgraded from Elite swordsmen and spearmen, or trained at Forts once Marian Reforms are researched. -
Release Preparation of A27.1
Deicide4u replied to Itms's topic in Game Development & Technical Discussion
@ffm2 You both should just test the RC without mods, instead of constantly trying to prove that mods weren't at fault for it. Replaying the game without mods is not the same as playing the game without mods. -
Release Preparation of A27.1
Deicide4u replied to Itms's topic in Game Development & Technical Discussion
Regardless, testing of new software should be done in a blank-slate state, without any additional code. This is an established practice in software development, to better detect and isolate buggy code. Doing it any other way is just a waste of time, as you're all finding out now. -
Roman counter to Selucid elite cavarly?

Town phase - Mass Triarius (Veteran Spearman) City phase - Consul Bodyguard cavalry/Marian Reforms spearmen/Marian Legionaries. Make sure you have Centurions nearby. -
How is that working out for you? This is a real, honest question, btw.

Move champion units back to Forts / Special Buildings?
Deicide4u replied to Seleucids's topic in Gameplay Discussion
Other games do this effectively by increasing the population cost of more powerful units. To be honest, I'm not sure why 0 A.D. doesn't do this. For example, making Seleucid Cataphracts take up 3 population slots is a sensible solution to what's the most broken unit of the game at the moment. Just see my match against Rome, where I didn't lose a single one out of 41 (!) Cataphracts. Also, making other champion units take up at least 2 slots is a better option than re-purposing Forts. -
Move champion units back to Forts / Special Buildings?

As usual, @real_tabasco_sauce talking some sense -
Change for the sake of change is useless. 0 A.D. is already unique in other ways.

Move champion units back to Forts / Special Buildings?
Deicide4u replied to Seleucids's topic in Gameplay Discussion
If you want to be aggressive, you can be aggressive with CS army. However, you shouldn't be allowed to mass OP army and stay aggressive. OP army is a late game army. This has nothing to do with the build. If you want OP units, you'd have to build an OP building. -
Move champion units back to Forts / Special Buildings?

I agree 100%. This will also need to be adjusted for the AI, and it will allow it to use the champions earlier (as soon as it builds a Fort). The change is good for historical accuracy. Most soldiers were pretty average and 80% of them had lower-tier equipment. Elite soldiers were kept as a part of separate battalions/legions. Also, new players will adjust better to the gameplay, as the mental image will be: 1) Barracks/Stables are used for citizen soldiers, 2) Forts and other special buildings train champions. I support this for Release 28. -
The meat food icon is how the food is being represented in other similar, historical RTS games.

Civ: Germans (Cimbri, Suebians, Goths)
Deicide4u replied to wowgetoffyourcellphone's topic in Delenda Est
100% this. Looks perfect. -
If you want the best graphics, play with the settings options. Keep everything on "High". I would advise to keep Shadows on Medium, unless you really have good specs. Playing on massive maps with high graphics settings is a good way to play the slide shows game, at least.

Nah, makes no sense. I guess we can boost a female gather rate of minerals by 0.05 points per second. The point is not in the removal of CS concept, the point is to promote diverse and viable strategies.
-
This is a great suggestion, and it's not the first time I see it proposed. I wouldn't make it 30 seconds, 10 seconds is already enough. 15 seconds max.

Some of the comments: "We have not decided on a set number. We are aiming for a beta in late 2012 or early 2013." "We're hoping to include an easier version of the AI with Alpha 13. Glad you like the game so far." "Thanks, but sorry, we will not have people on the walls, only garrisonned in towers and other buildings. (We thought about it initially, but found out it would take too much time to implement.)" (commenting on a beta timeline) "Hopefully within a year. The number of large features left is steadily dropping " In conclusion, the game was set to have a lot less features before the beta release. I've installed it to try and see if I can beat the supposedly tough AI. If I like this release, I will keep it and move on. Hopefully you guys release a final version soon.

Filter by compatible replays. Those 2 are for solo play. Borg played multi player. Please see the FAQ for the forum.
-
@Ludwik, if you still don't see them after going into the Replays section in game, move all subfolders into the "0.27.0" folder.
-
@Ludwik, that is a link to the forum thread. You need to go to a post in that thread and download the ZIP files. Once you do that, place them in your replays folder inside a separate folder. The subfolder's name should relate to the game (who fought, is it a team game, free for all or 1v1, etc.). Then, in game, you go to Single Player -> Replays There, you should find your replay.
-
They should be. Smaller army for the player is both easier to control and means less lag when moving it. The AI doesn't know how to keep its army alive, so smaller armies are also easier to destroy.

Deicide4u replied to Determina's topic in Gameplay Discussion
@Seleucids see, I told you that slingers are OP. -
