  1. @Klaas yep horses definitely rule my wife lived on a farm when she was young - but her father sold it (that dumb***). so last year i took pity (or better was persuaded) and granted her this big wish of owning her personal horse. the thing is ... the horse was already pregnant - only then no one knew - seems like some enterprising stallion made a romp over some obstacles (fences, streets ...) and visited the farm where our horse-to-be was held and sort of "introduced" himself on her the result was my little colt being born this year on April 12th. so its my job now to teach the young one some manners. i've got a good mentor at the stable where our horses are. he just finished working and educating his 4 year old stallion - did all by himself - and he's now teaching me the way to gain enough trust and respect from the horse, so that we have a fulfilling man-horse relationship. in time my Chirin will come to me by a mere whistle. currently she comes to me (sometimes ) at a mere wave of hand ... but i'm learning - and so is she all in all - a wonderful relaxing hobby suilad -Bernd
  2. whoa ... now i've got to enter my pets into the growing WFG Zoo we've got a cat called Cookie 5 degus (killer-rodents from Chile ) 2 horses (Rain - my wife's horse and her colt named Chirin - which is mine)
  3. Salma Hayek ... now thats a hottie ... and i'll spare you my comments about brit & co ...
  4. Glamdring! all the way ... pure elegance and it was the sword of Turgon (King of Gondolin) ! btw ... i was able to inspect many many swords at a very close range (~ 1 ft distance when i was almost pressing my nose against the glass of the exhibit-showcase) during my visit at the LotR-Exhibit in London the movies DON'T do the props justice ... every piece is crafted w/ extreme love for detail i'll list some of the swords/weapons displayed there * Glamdring * Shards of Narsil * Herugrim * Elronds Sword (later also used by Arwen *ahem*) * Aeglos (Gil-galad's Spear !!!) * Aragorn's (Ranger) Sword * Sting * Gimli's Axes (all 5 of them) * Legolas' Daggers (and Bows) * Boromir's Sword * Saurons Mace * Elven Daggers (given to Merry & Pip) * various Orc-scimitars * Uruk Swords (single hand and the T-Sword w/ a whopping length of 1,5m) * Elven 2Handers (from the Prologue) * Gondorian 2nd & 3rd Age Swords * various Rohirrim Swords and thats just the weapons suilad -Bernd

  7. so there ... i did it and bought my kids a Gamecube bundle along w/ Zelda Windwaker and Finding Nemo for a whopping 160 Euros. now i've gotta get a nice memory card and a second controller ... heh ... now my wallet starts bleeding i gave it a whizz on saturday evening and rather liked it - setup is pretty easy and done in a few minutes ... plus the size is a big bonus for me (us) as my son can easily pack it up in his trolley and venture off to the grandparents so that me and my wifey have some time off anyway ... there is a possibility of connecting up to 8 GC's using the Broadband-Adapter for LAN-play (needing a hub of course). playing over the internet is very under-developed because the only title that currently supports Online Play for the GC is Phantasy Star Online ... but that may change in the near future. @Brian yep - of course you are right - but it frees up MY pc when the kids want to play ... i just send them off into the living room suilad -Bernd
  8. i'm also thinking of buying a GameCube for my kids this XMas ... why ? because (IMO) it has the better gameplay value for them and its easier to take along when they are at their grandparents house. also GC has got Rebel Strike (and the older Rogue Leader) (atleast one GC-title for me) granted Nintendo aims more for the young gamers - but who am i to argue with - being a dad and all suilad -Bernd
  9. i've got to weigh in on this topic ... i successfully quit smoking three weeks ago ... after having smoked (on and off) for almost 12 years. so far i've experienced no withdrawal-symptoms but the temptation in the first week was horrible. i've been planning to quit smoking for the last half year - i've managed to slowly decrease the amount of cigs at first to 5 a day, then 3 a day (morning coffee, lunch, afternoon coffee - all at work - no smoking at home) and then i've stopped smoking in general. i've noticed some patterns when tempted to light up (all influenced by work) * stress * boredom (esp. waiting on something) * meeting in cafeteria after lunch for a cup of coffee * fellow smokers in team i've set myself some strict rules * no smoking at home (at first only the balcony was allowed - later nowhere) * only light up at fixed times during the day (ie. after lunch ...) * just put 3/5 cigs into the pack for each day some tips on fighting the temptation ... get some candy/gum/chocolate to occupy yourself when tempted. it works wonders - maybe so even for your waistline but then i generally noticed an increase in appetite (both food and sexual -> see ... non-smokers get laid more often ), my clothes stopped smelling of the darn cold smoke ... all in all i like it suilad -Bernd
  10. i recently unearthed D2X again - all in all w/ the "new" v1.10 patch ... i'll probably give it a spin tonight ... starting from scratch *again* about WC3 ... i played some months when it came out ... but i was rather bored w/ the endless rushing and falling into cookie-cutter-strategies so i mostly played it over LAN w/ my buddies ... but i stopped playing at the beginning of 2003. btw - my D2-account name is *drum-roll* Enarwaen (Europe Realm) suilad -Bernd

  16. the music in the latter part of the trailer was taken from the movie "Requiem for a Dream" and re-orchestrated for the trailer. it gave me goose-bumps the first time i saw it. btw - if you want a depressing but good movie about drug addicts ... check it out also the music of the first internet preview (was that 1999 or 2000 ?) - called "Gothic Power" is kind of neat (and used now w/ other movie trailers as well e.g. T3)
  17. i read on theonering.net about Joseph Bugman's AoK Mod - especially his screenshot of Meduseld fascinated me and i went to the "old HG forums". after half a year of lurking i was "caught" by a post by Adam looking for people to help the project. and i joined the TLA team back in October of 2002 suilad -Bernd

  23. my spousal overunit was an avid Diablo I & II player a few years back (2 years to be exact). nowadays she mainly surfs the net (shopping, vacation, ...). at first when we got together seven years ago she was very opposed to computers and the internet in general. things changed when we got our cable modem and i set her up her own workstation (we have currently 3 machines at home ... one router for NAT-ing and 2 workstations in an internal network) it's funny how things change over time and my kids (in case you didn't know - i'm a proud father of 6 year old twins: a boy named Julian and a girl named Blanca) are very enthusiastic about computers too ... apart from their gameboys suilad -Bernd
