  1. Have you tested the performance of having for teams? Does it work? If I recall there's an issue on the gittea where they were hesitant to expand the amount of players because of performance.

I can animate and do a bit of modeling, but I'm a novice (most of my models are made by chopping and screwing other models together).

If you want you can try to finish some of the 70% done new animals

    here are a few

    https://gitea.wildfiregames.com/0ad/0ad/issues/1993

    https://gitea.wildfiregames.com/0ad/0ad/issues/2003

there's most of the info in the forum post that the issue links to.

If you’ll make a list of the non engine related ones, I’ll maybe take a look and see if there’s anything I could work on.

I'll see what there is. If you can animate / model there are a LOT of animal models that are 90% done and then can be added to the game.

I mean that the reason for the closure is in a single summary, for example: "this was closed because nobody was interested".

Basically a list of tasks closed due to lack of interest. Maybe a wiki page.

Oh, that's a good idea. I'll put the reason I close the issue in the issue itself so we have it. I may also compile some of the bigger/ cooler issues here for people if they want to pick up

  5. Looking through old issues there are a lot that are either old and out of date patches, design suggestions that need to be discussed and nobody has for 10 years, or units / creatures that were worked on in the past and haven't been touched for a while.

If nobody objects I propose we make a project for orphaned issues with patches and existing work, that I can put them all in, so people can find them (and maybe eventually pick up). I can also close them if we want.

Also I may start closing older issues that are just gameplay and balance suggestions that nobody seems to want to discuss.

Again if i close something important, let me know and i'll unclose it !

  6. It looks amazing!

I think what would be great is if a feature like this had some kind of knock down effect for foot soldiers. That way an elephant could run into units, know them over and deal them damage. The ones who aren't dead will then be able to get back up like the trample effect in Battle For Middle Earth.

  7. Seeing that the devs seem to be ok with a steam release, what if we opened an issue to keep things up to date with what we need to do, that way when someone else asks questions we can just refer them to the issue where they can see what things are blocking a steam release.

And the things blocking for steam release could be very obscure "figure out mod issues" or add tutorial campaign and stuff like that.

A: Yeah, if you actually take the time to read some of the other topics that are similar to this, the devs who know about code are on the forums, such as @ShadowOfHassen and @Vantha

Just sliding in for a quick qualification. I am not in an official member of the Wildfiregames team. But I've made contributions before, and try to help out where I can, helping with issues, writing tiny PRs, copy editing, history research, helping with the flatpak (when I'm not to stupid to figure out 0 A.D.'s build process and have to have Stan help me) stuff like that. I haven't written a single line of code for 0 A.D. Eventually when I have time I'd love to though!

It really is pretty easy to get involved with 0 A.D. The devs are very patient and friendly, and the GitTea repo is pretty easy to figure out how to open an issue or PR and get that feature you want in the game. 0 A.D. is open source after all. All the devs are volunteers with lives, commitments, and jobs. Yes, they made this amazing game just for fun, and consequently they work on the features that make the game (and their dev work) the most fun for them. If someone else has new idea that would make the game fun for them, they are more than welcome pitch in and try to get it added. In fact, if they have any questions on the process I'll do my best to help!

Did you have vsync on? Cause with my 2021 m1 i have like 200fps with vulkan at the beginning of the match.

I probably had it on. I turned all the settings on pretty indiscriminately (it was late last night)

Cough* I tried to but its not available for me, since its my first contribution, and I don't know github works other then sending report issues.

I'm not a coder.... compiling is too difficult for my brain... commit guideline, I'll be sure to understand it later.

Understandable, thank you for giving me a reality check, I must weep near the ocean. Oh sea swept me away~!

Neither did most of us, but Gitea isn't too hard to figure out especially if you use something like VS code or codium
