If there's no clear tendency then I suggest to provide both options and leave it too up to campaign makers how and when to use them.
Offhand, do both.

I think the concepts are pretty cool.
My only suggestion is don't lock down how the campaign's narration works, it would be kind of cool to have room to have the campaign designers to have some artistic difference.

This is really cool-- I wonder if we could get it as a setting in the game proper though.

Yeah usually it takes a few tries :/

For a few tries, it's been a lot. It has pretty consistently refused to fork for me.

Honestly, if we can just require the first forum post to have to be approved by a moderator, that would work.
Another idea is to get proper privileges on the Ubuntu discourse forum I had to click through a MASSIVE tutorial-- something like that might help too.

Sounds like your gripe isn’t with the game pacing but with difficulty.
Well I don't play multiplayer so they're kind of the same thing...

One possible way out is to reduce the game speed to 0.75 or lower - this leaves more time to organise your own strategy.
I think I played that once, and it did get pretty slow. So slow, I got bored and sped it back up. I will give it another try though and let you know.

Great. I always find these stats interesting.
It would be amazing if we can consistently retain these users.
If you like stats we also have the flatpak ones
https://flathub.org/apps/com.play0ad.zeroad
(Scroll down they're there. The graph is too big to screenshot on this system.)
Also in regard to the pacing thing-- I always do end up dying pretty fast in 0 A.D medium. because I can't move fast enough, and easy and very easy are too easy. I would appreciate it if the game could be tweaked have a little slower of an entry curve for newer players.

random maps are also handcrafted. Just programmatically.
I didn't know that. I'll have to try those out!

Skirmish maps?
Do you mean the random maps? I don't play those -- I guess I should, though. I like the handcrafted maps.

One request I have is could we have some more naval maps or maybe some AI changes? The only kind of sea map is Barciana and still the AI just decades to hoof it over land to attack me. i'd love to play Athenian navy and go sink Persian ships but I can't find a map to do it.

I like Athens, Sparta, and Britons though I haven't played the latest update other testing

Hopefully in the next few alphas we can get some of that historical stuff into the game so you all can learn more.

You can now edit the wiki
Edited!

The flatpak is in its very last steps of being good. I don't have edit control to the wiki so could someone real quick edit the wiki so the flatpak doesn't things like "Unsupported" or community maintained, because it isn't now.

A different strategy: download the released .zip file then build from there.
Well to be fair that's kind of hard to do-- I certainly haven't been able to figure it out.

Yeah, WFG now has the flatpak and me and Stan are working hard to get it working perfectly. It is now verified though and A27 is on it.

WFG now has control of the flatpak repo and while we're still working on it behind the scenes we do have A27 on flathub!
The Nix package is pretty cool, by the way, I just wanted to put this here in case someone doesn't want to install Nix. Nix is cool, but it is a lot of work for someone to just play 0 A.D. keep it up with the nix package though.

I like Socrates as a hero because he actually fought in battles as a hoplite before becoming the famous philosopher. He even saved Alcibiades' life, I believe, when the Athenians were routed at the Battle of Delion, and was given a commendation for bravery. His execution was a reactionary blight on the Athenian government, similar in my mind to what they did to all of those poor generals and admirals after that naval battle they won (lol). You wouldn't disqualify Thucydides for having been banished, would you?
Could we do Socrates and Aristotle and give each different bonuses -- something like Socrates makes researching faster and cheaper, and Aristotle increases buildings of sight and units production quicker?

Small correction-- I guess by Plato I do mean Socrates, because Plato says Socrates says X-- I get those confused... e

Right. I was thinking his nearby presence could make a building work faster (productionqueue; training and research).
We also have Plato and Aristotle in Athens too.
Personally, it'd be cool to give an option between Socrates and Aristotle because of their different ways of reasoning and each one does something different.

I think we need to calm down a little, nobody is any adding any faction to the game--Geneva55 is just reviewing archeological books from the time period and keeping track of them in case we ever need them. If you want to discuss why you would potentially want or not want to have a South American civilization, go to the forum post about that. Whatever you do, please be polite. The devs have been putting a lot of work on the game, please don't make them have to stop their work and sort through a fight.
