  1. 'apropos' - regarding to, connected with, or suitable for; 'taciturn' - reserved, quiet; 'verbiage' - unnecessarily complex words (or use thereof); 'alacrity' - (cheerful) readiness; and, especially, the pronoun 'one'.
  2. PE. I really don't see the point of it. I thought the idea was to pick up academic qualifications...
  3. Does the solution in any way involve a mirror?
  4. Taking a slightly different approach: The third error is that the word 'three' should actually be 'two'
  5. It's easy enough in your head: To get Farenheit from Celcius, divide by 5, multiply by 9 and add 32. (F=(9/5)C + 32)
  6. Erik: Yes. Tim: Well. I've been playing with PHP a while, but haven't really had much need to use it very often, seeing as I don't really have a web presence. About a year, perhaps. Used ASP for a couple of years, too.
  7. I'll have a go, as long as it doesn't take too much time (or Stuart will have my head). I'm curious, though, why was the task code all wrapped up in a class? Personal style considerations, or is it actually easier that way?
  8. How many posts have there been in contravention of the CGs, anyway?
  9. Tim: @Mark? Did you mean that? I did send one, but it seemed to get delivered OK. Do you have it?
  10. Word Association, but they were all good
  11. Ah, you all make a native English-speaker like me feel so proud Helping to bring knowledge of my fine language to the world...
  12. Someone who spends as little time in front of the camera as possible. I've just about established now that acting is something I really can't do.
  13. Put it this way - I wouldn't touch COBOL with a ten foot barge pole. Used in business still, and you can get fairly well paid for using it, but not so much used for new development. Also, the syntax is worse than Perl. As for the rest, VB and Java are useful both generally and for dynamic webpages, C++ is good for performance software (games). I'd also recommend considering Pascal for a first language. It's supposedly easier to 'get' than C++ and it enforces programming good-practice more strictly than Basic. [ASIDE]Have you heard about the new OO-version of COBOL? It's called 'ADD ONE TO COBOL GIVING COBOL'[/ASIDE]
  14. Civilization II. Anyone here play? It's been quite some time since I've played that against a human
  15. On the other hand, K-Lite is illegal. It is in direct violation of the terms of use of the original Kazaa and the network it runs on, which disallow modification of the Kazaa code and, specifically, the media desktop. Altering Kazaa (or using a altered version) to remove the legally-dubious spyware is, in fact, forbidden by law. How about that.
  16. Rich: Money is a form of power, too I'm young. I'm exercising my right to be idealistic.
  17. I love the way snow looks on the ground, but people will insist on walking through it and spoiling it all. Grr. I live a little too far south for it to snow much in a year, maybe two or three times. Frost is good too, though, and much more frequent
  18. Let's see... In a nutshell, the acquisition of knowledge, friends and power (over my life; I'm not going in for politics )
