  1. Yes, but texture art isn't always associated with 3D. For example, you need texture artists for making a 2D game. Also, these sections are never very extensive, and are often flooded with requests related to normal mapping in 3D software etc. As for the style problems, I'm working on figuring them out, but they came with the original style. The only thing I really did was change all the colors and some of the images. I plan to do more, but that's what's been done atm. You can visit the original style demo here to see that most of the problems were not originally my doing. I've got the PSD for that very reason. The name is sorta in limbo right now until we find one that fits. I'll change it now if you like.
  2. Launched! http://www.purpledesignstudios.com/textures
  3. LMAO! Glen & Gary.. & Glen.. & Ross. Two thumbs up.. The first one was okay.
  4. Having trouble with a name for this place, so any suggestions are welcome.
  5. I've written quite a few mini tutorials, most of which are hidden to the general public. I'll post some of these. The good news is, I've decided to start this up after some of the feedback from other sites.
  6. I've been posting this around on every forum I can think of that it would apply to, and I've been wondering. How much interest would there be in a forum dedicated to a texture artist's trade? It'd be hosted on purpledesignstudios.com, likely with a co.nr domain tacked on for looks. I searched Google backwards for a texture artist's forum and they just don't exist. Plenty of 3D forums to go around, and graphic art forums are a popular topic, but ours is a delicate industry, being able to think of how to convert a 3D model into a 2D image. Not a lot of graphic artists can do that, and most 3D artists use unwrapping tools to accomplish that. Possible Forum Structure GeneralAnnouncements - for news and the like Community Forums [*]Texture Art Tutorials Work in Progress C&C UV Mapping Technique - for inquiring about how certain things are done by different artists [*]Category name? Character Art Environment Art [*]Program Specific Photoshop Gimp Fireworks PSP Paint.NET [*]The Billboard - for ad space Hiring Artists Artists for Hire Showcases - for game/mod showcases and whatever else Portfolios - posting links to your site and all And then of course staff forums. We'd use phpBB 3 for this hypothetical forum because it's my favorite, so lemme just dictate that right now. Any comments, concerns, ideas?
  7. Oh I know. I just don't like the fact that someone felt the need to try and change it, regardless of just how well that worked. AD: Anno Dominius, the year of our Lord. I've got nothing against you or Alemanus, or anyone who prefers to use CE over AD. I've just recently grown to become more annoyed by all this political correctness stuff.
  8. CE and BCE are the most ridiculous interventions I've ever heard. What was wrong with mentioning a specific person on whom we happen to base the calendar switch anyway? If you don't believe he was the son of God, at least recognize that he was a genius, and an incredible public speaker, very much deserving of such a title. And to be most accurate, you'd call it 0 AD. because that's the name of the game. AD. 0 or anything of the like doesn't sound quite as compelling.
  9. I've recently started up blogging. Yes, that's right, the age old hobby of general internet nerds has finally reached my doorstep. I had a blog that was integrated into a forum I occasionally visited, but that wasn't enough, so I decided to set up WordPress. I used to hate WordPress, but it's not all bad. Anyway, http://purpledesignstudios.com/blog/ Keep up to date with my daily life and other stuff I'm working on, all the time.
  10. Two Romes would be interesting. It might be difficult to find people interested in developing such a mod however, considering that our current Rome is Pre-Imperial, and the differences would be few in number. Personally, I'd love to see a rendition of an asian civilization from the given parameters (the "prime" point of the said civilization from 500 BC. to 500 AD.). The medieval mod series' are all fine and dandy, but I'm personally an enthusiast of this particular era.
  11. Although I understand the simplicity behind the process (and I've seen it it use at AoE3H), it might be difficult to sum up everything that can be done. While it may give the community a better scale of progress, I don't think it's a good idea to gauge our work like that.
  12. Welcome Dominius. He's also a PDS member, so the AoM community is likely how he got here.
  13. That is where California normally is, yes.
  14. My family attends night service church on Christmas eve, usually around 6pm. Dinner is special, but not always consistent in terms of what we eat. We normally open one or two gifts on Christmas Eve, and on Christmas Day is when all the "action" happens. We just took down decorations today, such as the tree and stuff, with some still left up because we just haven't gotten around to it, lol.
  15. There will definitely be a limit on the number of beta testers we choose to include in the process, and it is likely that those few will be chosen based on community activity and input. How soon? It's hard to say. It all depends on how quickly things go in the next few months, but I wouldn't expect it before this summer or even this coming winter.
  16. Nope. Mostly making videos and hanging around YouTube too much. He started music composition, but he's still 'learning' I suppose, but he's good at it so far.
  17. I still talk to Cirrow a lot. He's not all bad.
