  1. We're scheduled for an open source release very soon. The final release will likely compete with AoEV if ES follows through with their plans, although the time periods would be complete opposites..
  2. Source photos, photo manipulation and pattern making skills.
  3. I agree that WWII is ridiculously overdone, but WWI has barely been touched.
  4. Converting and compiling your mods will never have been easier than when you begin modding for 0 A.D.
  5. Atlas, our trusty scenario editor, will be available as a user-friendly solution to customized scenarios and campaigns, comparable to the editors of the 'Age of' series (except maybe with less bugs than AoEIII's ). New units and other aspects of gameplay will require modding, which we've made as easy as we possibly can - made by modders for modders. That's not to say, though, that some nice person won't come along and develop a generator for things like random maps and AIs.
  6. It's a little of both. Invite your friends.
  7. The difference is the programming of the gadget/widget itself. Performance would be the same, but I'd end up redesigning the layout to fit in Vista's gadget sidebar, which is more linear. The difference here was my ability to develop and test a widget, since Mac is my primary OS.
  8. Like I said, if I learn how to develop widgets and gadgets for other operating systems and find a way to test them, I'll release additional feed-based devices. Check out the Apple.com Mirror
  9. I'm considering finding ways to port this to be available for Windows Vista as a gadget.
  10. I'm pretty sure you've dropped in before. Anyway, welcome. On a side note, I gotta get that tower model from you.
  11. Mac OS X users now have an easy way to keep up-to-date with 0 A.D. news and forum updates with the release of the 0 A.D. Widget! The application features a simple, user-friendly interface and dual-RSS feed support, displaying both new forum posts (listed as topics) and all news updates posted to the 0 A.D. homepage. Download the 0 A.D. Widget421 kb | Mac OSX 10.4 or higher required More info...
  12. Ah, a much more enthusiastic showcase. Well done.
  13. TJ (GoM) is around often, but doesn't visit here much anymore. Regardless, Gmax only doesn't work because we don't have a direct export script, however you can export to another format from Gmax, import in say, Blender, and then export out of Blender.
  14. Sort of, except the 'phasing up' is automated. It's not like in AoM where you physically have to buy an advancement upgrade.
  15. There are no ages, in that each civilization is 'frozen' in time. There are phases, however, that are based on the size and age of your city rather than the age of your civilization. The larger the city, the more it is capable of.
  16. The problem I see with the whole 'conqueror the world' thing is that we'd end up with a massive dominating alliance of elite players that conqueror everybody and don't allow newcomers to succeed. Instead, let's cater to clans. Through negotiations with our matchmaking host, whoever that may be, we'd develop a clan registration window. Leaders would be able to register clans (a minimum of 3 other members registered to the matchmaking service), define username prefix/suffixes to specify clan membership (or maybe even a little icon that appears next to a member's name), and a clan page could be generated where members could choose to enlist.
  17. I think an option allowing a pre-built day/night cycle would be great for random map play. Maybe it also has effects on unit visibility, but of course that would require some extra parameters to be added to unit definitions, which means more work and a slightly longer wait for release.
  18. And trust me, you'll know when it's done. We'll make sure you know.
  19. Click here for an accurate demonstration of a Greek phalanx and lots of units formed up.
  20. There will very likely be improvements before we officially release the game.
  21. I agree. Micromanagement can only go so far, even in an RPG. Like if you forget to brush your teeth they'll rot and you'll always have mouth pain. More realistic, yes, but terrible for gameplay.
  22. Not exactly sure what you mean by a point system. Elaborate?
  23. It'd be a fun mod for units to carry their dead into a pile and then set fire to it after a battle is over.
