  1. Hi Brynn! I like the atmosphere of your banners, and I'd like to go quite a similar way with them. You seem to have stock of nice screenshots. Do you ? I need recent screenshots (best with armies and buildings) to have the most updates look for the game on the box art. Quantumstate already suggested me ModDB but the screens there are not exactly what I need. Cool if you have that!
  2. As you say, there's a nice natural split between the screenshots, and I'd like to keep that if possible with recent screenshots. By the way, where is the best spot to find recent and good quality screenshots ? I could make screenshots myself into the game, but it would took hours of gaming to reach the accurate scene.
  3. Here is my second proposal. I haven't had much time yesterday and today so I have not explored a lot. Later this week I will try other possibilities. I'd love something between this and my first idea. I'd like to reach something quite minimalist. Thanks Geek377! I've then used this font for the sentence at the top.
  4. Hi everybody! Thanks for the feedback. I'm working on an update.
  5. Hi everybody ! here's my first proposal for the box art adapted to Gameolith's request : I will soon work on the 2 banners also requested. I'd first like to have feedback on this first try.
  6. Noticed for the resolution of 1800x2720. Appart from the hi res logo, what other elements do we have to build high quality communication material ? (.svg will be helpful) Is there a specific font to use for 0AD ?
  7. I can handle that ! I have time these days.
  8. I'm glad the Weekly Reports are back ! Congratulations to all the contributers on these new stuffs!
  9. lilstewie, these are very good pictures, inspirational. Thanks for posting them.
  10. Superb work Enrique !.. I love how you make that.
  11. I have a problem with putting Stonehenge as a constructible wonder in the game. This is not going to be realistic. If Stonehenge (or any other stone circle) would have to appear in the game, I'd prefer them to be part of the map instead of being wonders that you'd build. Stonehenge (between -2800 and -1100) is much older than the time period of 0AD (-500 to +500). I would personally love 0A.D. to propose a much more original wonder for this civilization, something less cliché and more accurate. I actually have no idea of what could it be, but I think we can find something. I imagine that it could be a wooden building, a very good looking one... But I am wondering if Celts where the kind of culture demonstrating its beauty with a building... From what I know of them, they expressed through the art of horse-riding and warfare craftmanship, and they loved trees. Maybe a huge Oak would be their kind of "wonder" ?... To be discussed...
  12. Waow, great sound indeed in Shogun2's melees ! I understand how much it would had to the game. Cool if that is possible to add ! Recently I watched excerpts from the movie Alexander (Oliver Stone), and the huge battle of Gaugamela has some impressive army crowd noises. I like that
  13. That's awesome! I love all 4 icons. Waow, that must be so cool to test egyptian models! Raaah, I really must end my training on Blender (too busy these days...) so that I can start too building those little "wonders" !
  14. Welcome Alexandros! What 3D program do you use ? Oh, and I visited your country this summer and loved both the food and the landscapes. Very inspiring for a game like 0.A.D !
  15. Hello Austin ! Welcome to the forum! I enjoy your motivation and totally agree on how much good sound contributes to immersion for a game. For me, 0AD already has a very good sound work, but I am curious what can be explored further, so glad to see your skills and tools available for the game. In filmmaking too, a great sound design can give terrific immersion and realism, though we might not realize it consciously in the first place.
  16. Enrique, congratulations for you first 3 egyptian buildings, they are excellent and a very inspiring basis for this civilization. I'm glad the Egyptians are on their way to be part of the game. Good work too Idanwin! Good luck for finding the time you want. I know that well. About the pyramid : I imagine the golden summit not shining anymore, but on the contrary, darkened and affected by centuries of non-maintenance, under the effects of winds full of sand. I imagine maintaining such building may have seem a waste of energy for late Egyptians, and that this decoration up there would have turned almost invisible, at least reaching a color close to that of the stones beneath. Basically, if it is 2000 years older than the buildings the gamer places himself, then the pyramid should look 2000 years old. The Khephren pyramid has an interesting summit "texture" :
  17. Hello eveybody, I'm a recent new member and am discovering things step by step. What do you mean by part1 and part 2 ? Does it relate to Alpha and Beta, or something else ?.. About the wonder of Macedonians : if we end up choosing the Lighthouse, the map will always need a seashore to place the lighthouse with sense then we will need a Night time to see it in its real glory, bringing light to the night sailors ! (which would surely look extremely cool...) But yet, like Oshron, I think the Library is indeed another interesting choice too for the Macedonian wonder. This building is as legendary as the Lighthouse, and its burning is as famous as the submersion of Atlantis ! To rebuild the Library (wonder or not), the movie "Agora" might be a very useful reference : http://swordsandals.blogspot.fr/2010/12/agora.html
  18. On this page there is an excellent video showing the FX work (by BUF Compagnie) on Alexander, the movie of Oliver Stone in 2004 : http://www.buf.com/v...d=548&year=2004 The work made is incredibly detailed, as much as on the recreation on places as on the huge battle of Gaugamela. These shots are definitely inspiring for the work on 0 A.D. !
  19. Thanks for the story Om_Rahul ! Waow, that's a whole world to discover for western people like me.. On a purely visual aspect, do you think the architecture, dressings, crafts, etc of the Mauryan Empire did look pretty much the same as during the Indian Empire in the time of Alexander ? If it's just a few years or a century away, that must have look very similar. If we look at Greek art and architecture in a certain year and compare 100 years later, the differences are very few. I guess "historical accuracy" in the game can accomodate itself with this.
  20. HI! Maybe you have talked about that before, but I'd like to point out that in the movie ALEXANDER, by Oliver Stone, we have a nice view on the ancient Indian culture (in the second part of the film) which probably fits more or less to the Indian Mauryan civ we talk about in 0 A.D. The film (that is quite accurate aesthetically I guess..) could then be another source of inspiration for architecture and crafts. I have to see the movie again, but I remember this region to be depicted in a great way, with a lot of details in the palace and an impressive battle with elephants in the forest. According to real History chronology, Alexander is 336–323 BC, and the Mauryan Empire is 322 BC–185 BC (Wikipedia), so the Mauryan civ of 0 A.D apparently refers to the empire that started just after Alexander. But well, maybe visually there is enough likeness to use Stone's Alexander's Indians as a reference ?... By the way, I would love to see in detail how the made the film and how much historical sources they have based their work with.
  21. YEAH!!!!!!! Fantastic, I'm right now going to test it ! Thank you a million times to all those who worked on this new step of 0 A.D! You all rock !
  22. Little waterfalls falling in the surrounding water would surely look good! Actually, I think that is would really look hyper-demonstrative, "à-la Dubaï", as we can consider water (and water raised at the top of a building) a rare ressource in a country like Assyria! It really would be the show-off of Babylon : "Look all the water we've got, look how we make it climb the levels and fall back down !" which fits well to the famous pride of Babylon. In a more realistic way, I imagine small lines of water wandering through the levels, for examples all along the walls, even at the threshold of gates (you would have to step over the water to pass the gate). This water would hydrate each level, work on a horizontal way, which is more technically sensed than a water show of up and down. I see the gardens having both kinds of water ways : vertical, and horizontal.
  23. Enrique, congratulations for the gardens, they look fabulous. I am now learning Blender and take such models as your as examples of what I aim for! I am glad you are bringing us THE gardens ! I have some improvements to suggest : -the flowers are really oversized, which contributes too make the building look smaller than it is. I'm pretty sure having much smaller flowers and more numerous in their tree would change the scale of the whole thing. -the red paintings/human figures on the top part : I have the feeling that a more "babylonian" color (such as blue or white) would increase the global harmony of the building, unless red is known to be a color used in that kind of detail. -the water : I don't know how water integration works in an 0AD building, but I think the water here is much too blue. It will look much more realistic and integrated if it gets closer to a soft blue layer on a ground-color surface. However, apparently-blue water could look realistic in those gardens if we imagine canals and fountains, etc with a bottom made of blue tiles, faking the color of the water (like in a swimming pool). -I guess adding blue-tiles textures+gold parts (such as those of Ishtar gate) to parts of the gardens would make it even more demonstrative (as it must have been) and "wealthy". Maybe it has been discussed here before, but recently, I have learned that the hanging gardens probably haven't been in Babylon but in NINIVE, another big city of Assyria. There appear to be not trace at all of hanging gardens in Babylon (even in the texts), contrary to Ninive that was said to own a sort of special garden like that. Very interesting topic!
