Thanks Sighvatr !

I believe you mean "plants" ! "Vegetables" are what we grow in the kitchen garden -I love the 1st set, very credible, feeling natural. Perfect work! -The second has a very good shape but I find the texture can be improved. We see a texture connection on a side, and over all, I find that the texture makes too much parallel repetitions. Don't know if I'm clear. It just don't feel random/natural enough to me. -And the third set : same remark as above about the too visible texturing, but more important, I'd say that this shape of rock formation is extremely rare in real life and IMO would look more natural if less vertical, not looking that much like a column or a tower. Also, the slabs on the side feel like left here by humans. I think it should be more messy. But basically all that is very cool. Good work !

4 shots that I made these days : (in JPG, but I have them in PNG)

Hello everybody! As contributor on the visual communication of the game, I notice we need recent and good looking screenshots. I suggest this thread to post your best ones. And great if they can show the variety of landscapes and factions. Screenshots of battles and well-developed cities are particulary wanted ! Here's the kind of use I have with screenshots these days :
-
I repost the box-art updated with the new Windows logo and cleaner Tux and Apple logos. The large size is a simple JPG for you to enjoy and use. The small size is a PNG scaled as Gameolith's request (180x272).

Rome 2 Total War gameplay
Ludo38 replied to Mythos_Ruler's topic in Introductions & Off-Topic Discussion
That video impressed me much, especially the part inside the city in fire and smoke. But as LionKanzen, I love 0AD more, whitout knowing why exactly... Well, 0AD is special ! -
Just a remark : The sun would surely enjoy to be centered on the axis of the shield! For now it is a bit too much on the right. A little bit of "transformation box" in Gimp will fix that, keeping the white bottom detail at its place while you move the sun.
-
Cool report as usual ! @Lion : your shields rock!! I agree with Fabio that a in-game menu for the graphics would be great. I'm interested in trying options in the game that way.
-
Enrique, very nice work on rubbles ! I just would say that on the first picture (the Mauryan ruin), there are 2 shapes that look like 2 huge rocks, and they don't feel like ruins at all, they look like huge natural rocks. Better remove them.. What do you think ?

Hi everybody, Unless it has already been shown in this thread, or unless it is not considered a good source of inspiration, I post here a selection of screencaps from the India scenes in the movie "Alexander". As you may all know here, it depicts India just before the Mauryan Empire. So though it's not exactly Maurya, it should be rather close to what is being designed for 0AD now. Unfortunately, almost no architecture featured here, but some interesting details in the soldiers, bowmen and elephants. I made 4 groups of caps : -palace -foot soldiers -elephant soldiers -elephants Here below are small versions, but by clicking in the links above you'll access the original versions (1500px large). I hope it helps !

Hello Mirek, and welcome ! Your english is rather good, seriously no worry here. Have a good time making your first steps in the work on 0AD. There are here many good advisers!
-
Waow, superb work LionKanzen !! I love your shields!! Can't wait to see them in the game !
-
Waiting for approval of Gameolith, I wanted to try a simple gathering of the factions emblems, just for fun : The Mauryan one is missing, considering what said Mythos_Ruler just above.
-
Ok. Mythos_Ruler, great great work!! I wonder : the first emblem of the macedonians have an almost fluo purple color. Is it accurate ? It's surprising to me. And the Mauryan emblem, I think it lacks some lisbility. We don't really guess the 3 lions of the pillar... So, maybe a single lion, or a different graphic style for the trio would help having it clearer. Just a thought. Did you made all that on Gimp ? For the information, I did the box-art on Inkscape, with a little work on Gimp for the background that links game screenshot and greek pottery photo.
-
Thanks a lot Brynn! Sure, having the emblems in higher quality could be very useful for visual communication. Someone have them available in the network ?..
-
Are we going to enjoy a Weekly Report this week ? That would be cool.
-
Thanks everybody for the feedback! A question : I'd like to have access to good quality versions of the civilizations logos (like the greek owl for example) we see in the top of the game window. Where can I find them all ? Thanks a lot by advance.
-
Thank you Jeru!
-
Hi folks ! Here are the 3 requested PNG elements for Gameolith, plus a large version of the box art in jpg. For the banners, as you can see, I alternate the background to use 2 interesting horizontal parts of the box art. I can provide the sources when needed.
-
Yes, I work on it now and post ASAP today.
-
Enrique, that's a very good start !! I love how they look... You make that on Gimp ?
-
Thank you everybody for the feeback, thanks Pedro for the font, thanks Jeru for your detailed help. Brynn, that all makes me wonder : Maybe it could be great to have a forum thread dedicated to screenshots ! Just the way there's the thread "0 A.D. on Youtube", there could be "Users Screenshots" ! I personally don't have time (or so few..) to play the game, so I can't produce screenshots. But I guess others in here would be productive at it and with very good looking scenes of battle of city building ! That would greatly contribute to the making of communication material like the box-art. I will surely send an update of the box-art by tomorrow.
-
Thanks Pedro for the suggestion about stone background with the title ! I've re-used my rock background in these 2 new vesions. It's slightly visible on the duelling soldiers.
-
And yet an alternative version with a bit of 0AD palms landscape (recent screenshot !)
-
Another version : The soldiers picture is a photo I took this summer in Greece of an Ancient pottery. Can someone confirm me if 0AD can include exterior pictures, as long as these are public domain (this is the case here) ? I'm not very happy with the catch sentence in the upper part. Probably too big, or needing some stuffs around it. I'll see how I can improve that. Are there other logos or informations to include in the bottom ? Thanks
