After some discussion in IRC, we conclude some time ago to use hand-made portraits only for heroes and use in-game shots for normal units. It makes easier to identify which type of unit you are going to train & 1 portrait for each unit is too much work. @JustinOperable: Keep them coming man! those portraits look sexy!

Good things I noticed playing against 2 AIs, random map Persian highlands 3 player size: -Less lag -Faster at building economy (both had nice stats even defeated) -Much more units trained -Fast phase upgrading. -Frequent attacks. -Dropsite placement with defense tower to defend resources. Not so good things: -Didn't care much of defending "not-main" CCs (if you try to attack main CC you get a response) -Didn't use cav against my siege units (it would be great if he tries to prioritize siege attacking with cav, don't know if this is possible yet) -After killing all units of the last AI, I didn't win until I destroyed a CC foundation that obviously wasn't being constructed (I think this is not AI problem though ) -After taking down first AI CC, I received the following errors and he didn't try to build a new one: No more errors, just some warnings about the plans, phasing, and some resources not found (but I think they're normal) Overall a nice step forward, It was a fun match Good work Wraitii!

My vote here goes to percentage armour because: Fixes current system problems Easy to grasp for new players Will help balancing units and techs

Looks good Maybe some variation on the crates color (add a little red to get more brownish), or leave some of them open showing some goods inside (you can find fruits and other food textures in almost every struct texture). This will give plenty of color variation on the deck and give the impression that has a lot of different goods reinforcing the "merchant" aspect Other than that I think it's ready to sail

Hello zaphzaph, I'm not an expert in the animation area, but I think the blender addon for .psa relates to UDK animation armatures. I don't know if it's the same .psa format exported by Max3D (which I think our psa animations are from Max) I'll try to investigate more on this (I didn't know that blender had .psa importer addon). Coincidentally, I'm downloading the last UDK version to get started with it... I'll make some tests and see if UDK is able to import our .psa animations and if they can be tweaked further from there.

That concept is badass Female ponytails are a prop? or it should be modeled with the head? (sorry if there aren't females with ponytails, but I think I saw them)

Hey Nick! Sorry, I should have explained better. Those are texture examples of existing units, so you can see the layout that the unit textures has. I also pointed you to the meshes if you want to see them applied to the body and how they're UV unwrapped. I pointed you to those files in order to try your hand at doing the Mauryan hero textures. Anyone else noticed how fast the mauryan archers were killed by skirmishers around 15:20 mark?

Thanks LordGood! I don't know, every building except military ones and CC has some plaster in it. Initially I thought that plaster on military buildings would look "weak", or not so "menacing" from an artist viewpoint, or they doesn't have the need to be plastered because of its function. I can understand the complaint about the lack of plaster in the outside of the CC, but I was following the general look of Eggbird's CC, maybe I could try to add some more in it before resuming the Stupa work. -

Correct me if I'm wrong, but early Mauryans did carve incredible stone caves, didn't they? So I guess they had some ability with stone. -

Man, I'm doing both. Wood and stone. There seems to be no consensus. Documents depicting wooden walls, references of brick walls. Comments saying there're already too much bricks, and now that seems to be incoherent. So I'm going to make some variations and I'll let the community decide. -

Ships and moving units do not use any lightmaps or AO maps. We only use AO maps on buildings right now. You can fake some shadows in the diffuse texture if possible (like you already did in the hull interior) so don't worry about lightmaps.

I also thought in this option, but I figured that it sounds kind of a cheat to use wood to build your walls to convert them to a more strong ones just with a technology, thus saving all the stone other civs would need to make them. -

lol. Actually I was working in both the stone and the wood variations, just in case expect screens soon. -
Thanks for the info Kopesh. I might go with solid colours in the whole sheet. This will make easier to identify the playercolour (and single playercolor stripes are already used by persians)

I'm speaking here of results in experienced player vs player matches. There's no point in judging the strength of a civ based on a match against AIs, they're not even close as challenging as a human player (yet).
