  1. If the stone cost is going to be raised, i suggest a tech to reduce it, so that later on slingers would still be an alternative, if you want to mass them.
  2. I'm relieved to read that, i was afraid the team would ignore the inconsistencies of the current system. And yeah, i agree that the attack/armor types system isn't flexible enough for the game, it had inconsistencies even for Warcraft 3. I didn't play many games of the Total War series, in fact i just played Medieval 2 and their attack/armor system (with attack/defense skill, charge bonus based on current speed, bonus in woods/snow, morale, stamina) seems pretty solid, so we could adapt some of their ideas into our game.
  3. Try using the drivers in Fabio's signature, above. I can't help you much, since my pcs only run windows, but if Fabio's drivers don't work, you could ask someone with more experience on these matters in Wildfire's developers IRC chat: http://webchat.quakenet.org/ (Channel: #0ad-dev)
  4. I mean historically. Come on, slingers only get a sling and some stones from the ground, which aren't even hard to aim at the enemy's head. What we must do here is to make them vulnerable as they are in real life (due to having no armor), so that they don't become that good of a choice. Gameplay-wise I agree with you, I won some couple of matches against a Persian Aegis Bot using only slingers and rams. So my suggestion is to nerf slingers badly, instead of postponing them.
  5. Slingers are the most basic units. Not being able to train them from the start feels too wrong. Perhaps another solution?
  6. Simple as it may look, it would still give some problems to the pathfinder. They can't be treated as one unit because this would make them stuck in, i.e. a narrow passage. Of course they could then be treated as multiple units, but it'd be what we call a 'hacky solution', and these kind of solutions must be avoided in 99,9% of the cases. Hacky solutions bring weird bugs with them (i.e. what would happen if the formation is attacked right when they're passing through the narrow passage?).
  7. Lion's been doing some research on Basque, but as far as i know, it is being very hard to find any spoken examples for it. Even the Google Translator has a Basque translation, but it lacks the spoken component. If we are to use it, we'll need some further research (maybe someone could go there?).
  8. And you can control a formation with one click, sanderd, you know about Control Groups, right? Well, i may be wrong, but i think the way you're describing will just add complexity to what is already complex: the pathfinder. And, really, formations weren't something exclusive to the Romans.
  9. What version of the game are you playing? I had the same problem for a while, though i'm using an i5 processor and Windows 7, but since Alpha 12 i didn't have any problems.
  10. The civs must have a strong cultural (and military) identity in the 500-1 BC time frame, besides other reasons, to be included in 0 A.D. part 1, Burzum. Part 2 will feature civs in the 1-500 AD time frame, Imperial Romans and Huns are included on the list. The Egyptians were initially not included because the Egyptian golden age was before this frame. But because of fans' requests, as well as from some within the team, the Ptolemies (the closest to Egyptians in our time frame) were included on the list, after the Mauryans' success as a crowd-sourced civ (special thanks here to lilstewie for his searches).
  11. Oh, i didn't really think the team would be officially including another civ, that's great news!
  12. The team can't give you an exact date, yet. Why? Because it's not much of a priority, compared to the other features. To explain better, this feature is kind of related with the Pathfinder of the game, which currently need optimization for it takes too high a toll on the game's performance (didn't notice? Try playing a game against 3 AIs and you'll see what i'm talking about), so the developers thought better to finish working with the pathfinder before making any progress with naval warfare.
  13. If you look at lilstewie's references, you'll see most of them, if not all, do. But weapons are details, will only be added when the model is complete.
  14. You guys are talking as if the Chinese won't be playable at all, which isn't the case. The major problem is that they're not finished yet, so probably it'd be better to let them finish. Also the choice to include their civ isn't ours for us to make, it's their team's choice. I'd, personally, be very flattered to have my mod distributed with the original game, but we must ask them first.
  15. I don't feel it's much of a need right now, Ben, but if you guys really manage to implement the system, I'd gladly compromise myself of translating each alpha version into Portuguese. After all, there is a lot of code behind the game, but not that much info on the player's UI (...yet). I guess in less than a week we'd translate everything.
  16. Very good. The scales are perfect. The howdah is perfect. If anything, i'd only add some border to the cloth under the scales (it's still looking a bit artificial, compared to the other elephants), but yes, it is ready to be put in the game. You guys are really giving special attention to the Mauryans, uh? All the buildings and units are looking amazing!
  17. Don't change the howdah too early, Enrique, it is looking so good i'd feel pity to change it at all... But since it is needed, finish the rest before touching it.
  18. There any records of use of this in our time frame? Just out of curiosity, i never saw any of these in any game...
  19. ...And is default until a tech is researched.
  20. It was a good match! Jonathan risked the game by not paying attention to the backdooring, but he relied in the power of the rams and that the resources he had gathered were enough to give him the victory. If you just managed to hold the rams at bay, you would've won!

  22. Yes, i can program in C++, though it's not my favorite language. I can give you guys some help with it and with the translations, if you want, just don't expect too much of me.
  23. You mean a research to enable promotions?
