  1. I can't believe i fell on this trap! I was never expecting one of these here in the forums!
  2. I only change keybinds when i use constantly some buttons, then i adapt the most used shortcuts to my preferred buttons: Q,W,E,A,S,D, Z, X, C, Ctrl, Shift, Alt, Tab, Space and the numbers 1-4. In some cases, i need even more keybinds, then abuse the mouse wheel (Shift/Ctrl/Alt + mouse wheel rules!) to have +9 available "keys". I know most people already know, but the conclusion is: for actions that need to be fast, the closer to the hands' idle position, the better, while for actions while "out of danger" (like building), i wouldn't mind having the keys far away.
  3. Michael nerfed the elephants' speed because they were too fast, already, i don't think it's likely that their walking speed will be raised. They were not made to take down (ranged) cavalry, but to run amok slow infantry, breaking their formation more through fear than through actual damage. The cavalry couldn't stand a direct confrontation with elephants because they lacked their brute strength and enough agility to dodge their attacks. To deal with the elephants a combination of archers (to take down the riders) and spearmen (to take down the elephants) was used, but only after their initial charge, when the beasts were scattered around and far from their allies, then they could finally be surrounded, and even then it was no easy task (the elephants still had the advantage of their speed and brute force).
  4. While this may be true in most cases, there are some exceptions. For example: Celts and Iberians were experts at ambushing roman armies along the roads. I agree that it would simplify things, for now, but someone eventually will have to do the hard work of accelerating the pathfinder, since not everyone wants/likes/needs to walk on the roads and some modders may not like the idea of roads. Walking on roads could be encouraged, though, by decreasing stamina expense of actions and increasing moving speed considerably. And maybe a simple button to alternate between walking only in roads and walking through the woods. I agree with you too about the unexplored territory, but this shouldn't be implemented before the auto-explore feature, else it will be a pain.
  5. An Italian Gothic Metal Band, called "Lacuna Coil"
  6. A note: It might be my contact (or lack of it) with the accent, but i find it difficult, sometimes, to understand the European English "standard" accent. So if I were to choose one over the other, I'd prefer the American English "standard" accent, which is almost always pretty clear, to me.
  7. Aren't Aztecs a medieval/modern ages civ?
  8. Currently, no one is working in a Campaign and the only scenario being made, as far as i know, is this one: http://www.wildfiregames.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=16913 (which is also a bit slow) The reason behind this is that the team is really focused in implementing and improving the features of the game before developing content. The team has no plans of releasing any content before the final version of the game, though. But there are good news, too. The trigger system is being developed for part 1, and there are a couple fans already waiting for the system to finally start designing Scenarios and Campaigns. The Scion Development team, of the Rise of the East mod is also planning to do campaigns, after the other main features of the mod are complete.
  9. You may want to get in touch with this guy, too: http://www.wildfiregames.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=17110
  10. IMO, 1024p is enough for gameplay videos, but I'd rather have better quality for cinematics, since they are the game's "presentation" to the player. Cinematic videos most commonly abuse of graphical resources while the game doesn't get a glimpse of that, so there is freedom to do as much as you feel like doing, in terms of fanciful stuff. Starcraft 2's expansion's trailer (which reminds me of Matrix's invasion of Zion, btw)
  11. I was talking about a frozen scene, Enrique, it would be pretty cool to have a peace track on the background, while you watch the frozen syntagma rows, a cavalry charging in wedge formation and end up closing in to the leading horseman's eye. And there could be a narrator, too. Didn't someone record the "0 A.D.: History is yours for the taking"? People generally prefer women narrating stories, but it is acceptable if the narrator is a character of the story himself.
  12. I suggest the battle of Plataea instead of Thermopylae. Plataea had Spartans, Corinthians, Athenians and Megarians fighting together and was a decisive battle against Xerxes, even though not as famous as Thermopylae (for obvious reasons).
  13. Well, i guess your city isn't an oasis in a semi-desertic region. My city is a small city of 340k inhabitants, the biggest city of the interior of Brasil's northeastern region (besides each states' capitals), and is only 149 years old. The only interesting (read funny) point is the paranoid theory of why it isn't a major cotton power in the world (was, back in 1919), along with Liverpool and New Orleans: according to some dubious (and paranoid) sources, our New Orleans' friends introduced a plague that consumed the whole cotton crop.
  14. I see Mythos's point that you need to scroll the vision without changing our mouse position, Feneur, but i confess these situations are so rare with me that i wouldn't mind if the camera controls were all set to the mouse wheel (with Ctrl and Alt for the other 4 commands). Instead, i prefer to have the command buttons as close as possible to my left hand's idle position (attack, attack-move, patrol, build, etc.)
  15. To get it to work, i get the video's share link (the one the youtube offers when you click the button "share") and encase it within a "[ media]" (without the space inside)
  16. You're most welcome here, Alban. If you're talking about the Ptolemies, they're an incoming official faction, AFAIK, and the team will start working on them after the Mauryans are completed (Mauryans' official release planned for this summer). If you're talking about the Nubians/Nabateans, they're a mod project of Fallen Empire Studio's (a modding team composed of 0 A.D. fans). If you're interested in collaborating to any of them, i'm sure both will appreciate, since they have only some couple models designed. Thread links below: Ptolemies Nubians
  17. IIRC, hotkeys can already be manually changed, Lion.
  18. The roofs of the Greek temples are full of drawings, why not draw some easter egg tuxes there? hehe! We could also include other symbols on some soldiers' shields... Of course all the fun lies in making them really subtle, so that who is watching just to see the intro will not notice them, but who is really searching for it will. There are already some examples of these things in big commercial games and the fans loved it.
  19. Try exploring the camera buttons (Q,W,E,A,S,D) along with the zooming and you'll get splendid perspectives!
  20. You know what happens when it rains in your disc? I found out the hard way... Now i have to use a crack and all that's left of my AoK is the case.... which i use for my AoE1 (i bought with a magazine, Full Games, so it didn't have a 'proper' case).
  21. Good job guys, the site seems very friendly. And congratulations for the strong initiative.
  22. I seriously don't mind the lil' stretching of my widescreen and the graphic glitches i solved by simply using a .cmd file with this written: taskkill /F /IM Explorer.exe age2_x1.exe Start explorer.exe Well, not sure if by only terminating the explorer solves every glitch, but at least i didn't notice any.
  23. I agree. People communicate better with minimap pings, anyways. Also, "friend or foe colors" would help with this matter.
  24. Have you heard about windows blue already? Ha ha! Here they come again. But i must agree with Enrique, for i still play AoK from time to time.
