  1. A good rule of thumb is that if you are the worst player in your team then you should never be the first player to resign and that better players may be more liberal when resigning. If the lowest player in the team is doing poorly then the team may still win. If the highest player in a team is doing poorly then it is very unlikely your team will win. Here, it appears you were the lowest player--you should've waited.

  2. Hello everyone, I think it's time I reveal a "secret project" I've been working on occasionally: a “Grand Strategy” campaign mod for A25. Because our UI is flexible, and because campaign data is just JSON, we can do quite a lot in terms of modding. My intention here is to do something somewhat similar to Rise of Nations' Conquer the World campaign, though with some twists. The code is over at the github repo: https://github.com/wraitii/0ad_grand_strat . If you want to help out, the easiest is to make PRs or issues over there. The end-game is to merge something back for A26 or later, depending on advancement. As you can see, the mod is currently unfinished: it's technically playable, and some of the core mechanics are there, but it needs a ton of polish and quite a few features (& well, testing) before it's properly done. Though at the moment new core code in 0 A.D. itself isn't necessary, some things might be easier to do there. Screenshots: You can download a .pyromod from GitHub. Changelog:

  3. I'm making a few improvements now. Now we have the possibility, when the AI attacks your province, of losing or winning in the auto-resolution. Also, when you lose your last province, a Game Over page appears and we have a button to start a new campaign.

  5. Since so many TGs end without all 4 players resigning I made a classifier for my version of the local ratings mod. This could be made to be used as a victory condition. I am getting also annoyed by mates that resign too early. But some games are already decided long ago and if there is a huge dis-balance in the score and population one could already call it a gg: So for a clear victory condition one could set the score factor to 1.2 and population to 1.8 or so. Just as a suggestion for the game or a mod. I don't have time and the desire to code atm.

  6. @wraitiiHey man, I hope you're doing well. I've always thought this mod was really cool, and today I decided to try and fix it and its compatibility with 0ad 28. Luckily, after a lot of head-banging and nonsensical Chatgpt responses, I managed to get something playable and error-free. I believe now only some provincial localization issues and things like that remain.

  7. Since it is an open source project, all soldiers it employs will have to be a volunteer militia force. Alternatively, it could work with a model in which access to the game requires a certain number of years in its military. Either of these methods could protect the game from its most immediate threats.

  9. The death of this game has been a long time coming and is truly inevitable. First, the heat death of the universe, something difficult to precisely calculate, will happen in roughly 10^106 years, which I doubt 0 AD will survive. Even if we prepare for that, there is the more immediate problem of the sun depleting its hydrogen reserves in approximately 5 billion years. Unless our team develops proper technology to survive in space, I think 0 AD will fail. In a similar vein, the Andromeda Galaxy's collision with the Milky Way in 4.5 billion years may pose a serious risk to the survival of the community. For these reasons, I regret to say that 0 AD is doomed.
