  1. Thanks to all contributors who figured and made this patch! Langbart ultra op. https://gitea.wildfiregames.com/0ad/0ad/issues/7714 Tested over couple of games it definitely feel like reverting the 'a27 lags'. Similar feedback from @0 calories. No more climax 4-12 fps lags or camera/gui unresponsiveness . Sharing the patch for those who'd like to try it. And get reasonable fps again... To apply on linux, (if you built the game) put the patch in your game folder lagpatch.patch Apply the patch: patch -p1 < lagpatch.patch Recompile: cd build/workspaces/gcc make -j3

  2. Text about the wolf warriors. Seems like it could be possible that some ferocious German warriors in ancient times would dress themselves in wolf skins. Especially as a way to "summon" the strength of mythological or religious wolf totem. I don't think that the wolf skin would be very effective as a suit of armor, though. Maybe add them as very brutal, very aggressive melee glass cannon shock troops?

  4. The main difficulty with that is the absence or obscurity of surviving archaeological material and records from southern Indian states during the 0AD time frame. There is of course the Tamil Sangam literature but aside from historical evidence for the existence of the following two kings, much of the work is considered mythical. There are some inscriptions and caves that are within the 0AD time frame but I'm not aware of anything that will be useful in putting together these factions, which means I need to look further. I'll try to get in touch with someone who can help me with this. For now the best references I have are the Mahavamsa and the Dipavamsa (Older than Mahavamsa) which are both from Sri Lanka. But I think there may be more obscure sources from southern India that can satisfy us, and since I'm perfectly located for this task I won't stop searching. I'll get back to you as soon as I find something

  5. This. Everything that OP talked about in his last post isn't about clicks. The vision says 0AD shouldn't be "the most clicks wins." I don't think anyone reasonable wants that (see any thread on sniping). Players are limited in the number of their clicks in early game because they simply do not have a robust enough economy to do more than a few things. And, in the grand scheme of things, 0AD isn't a "the most clicks wins" type of game compared to other games within RTS and other genres. Again, if the game is moving too fast for anyone, I suggest to simply change the game speed to .75x speed or something lower. Changing the the actual train times messes with the underlying balance of the game and no one has put forward an argument on why that should change or how it would avoid a24's problems.

  6. Description from their website: openage is a free (as in freedom) cross-platform RTS game engine that provides the mechanics of Age of Empires. We use C++20, OpenGL/GLSL, Python, Qt and CMake to allow people using GNU/Linux, BSD, macOS or Windows to play the game natively. Our aim is to make openage a platform for the original Age of Empires games providing the same look and feel, but with more features for modding and multiplayer. Engine: openage is intended as a powerful platform that runs any Age of Empires release and can even be used to make your own RTS games! Modding: openage uses an open API powered by our human-readable, easy-to-understand configuration languages. Multiplayer: We are implementing a client-server architecture with dedicated servers that supports more than 8 players. The overarching system will provide matchmaking, lobbies, server discovery and other community features. openage is a community project that values every contribution, the only requirement is your enthusiasm. Don't hesitate to get in touch with us if you want to help!

  7. Some ISP choose to block certain sites by default as a part of their firewall. You can try to turn off firewall or children protection in the router settings. If it still doesn't work you can contact them to whitelist sites for you. My ISP decided to partially ban Reddit and completely banned 4chan and many adult sites, despite the fact that all of these are allowed in my country. Going back to the topic, Leopard's Mainland Twilight is the most recommended map for TGs. You may want to try: Coastal Ranges, Continent, Hyrcanian Shores, Kerala. All of these are good for multiplayers games.

  8. I've tried out the new Romans, and the strategy might work. Well, against noobs, at least. Don't waste resources on champions. Instead, train a balanced, huge army of citizen soldiers. Cover the usual bases, mass skirmishers as ranged, swords and spears to defend them. Max out, if you can. Leave some room for siege weapons and a Hero of your choice. Linger on a bit, to build up your stockpile of resources, because you'll likely need it soon. Making a good trade network is advisable, but optional. As you're preparing to head out, select your Fortress and click on the "Marian Reforms" tech. Congrats, now you have 200-240 champions eager to smash into the already prepared enemy defensive lines, as your opponent figured out what you're doing 15 minutes ago. Or, you push out, destroy his army and reduce his towns to rubble. If some of your elite warriors die, replace them with the resources from your stockpile. If the enemy tries to buy time by spreading out, roll out some cavalry to intercept him. One of these two things should happen

  9. Been having some fun asking chatgpt to remake 0 A.D. screenshots into more realistic images. Obviously far from perfect but it's fun. The island in particular came out great IMO.

  10. For mods, definitely for the main game not really because of the dubious license.
