  2. Just in order to give another name in N : Nineveh According to Wikipedia, Nineveh "was an ancient Assyrian city on the eastern bank of the Tigris River, and capital of the Neo-Assyrian Empire. It was the largest city in the world for some fifty years[1] until it was sacked and completely depopulated by an unusual coalition of Medes, Persians, Babylonians, Scythians and Cimmerians in 612 BC. Its ruins are across the river from the modern-day major city of Mosul, in the Ninawa Governorate of Iraq." Well, this all is just for culture, because the story of Nineveh doesn't fit the game's timeframe. Too old. But it's a quite "legendary" town, and it is said that the famous haging Gardens of Babylon were in fact in Nineveh. To walk toward a name choice : I like the name Naukratis. But is there already a theme, a civ or a specific stuff we want to emphasize with Alpha XIV, something that could help the choice of the name ?

  3. Oh, I already did that one (look at screenshot in spoiler in first post), thanks for the ptolemies one! I did the swords already as well as a matter of fact xD If you'd downloaded the font and taken a look at it we wouldn't have done the same work twice... I might still use your swords anyway. Could you send me the svg's for ptolemies and swords?

  5. Also: several weeks of balancing doesn't seem like that much (I mean the gave's been in development for other 10 years now) . If something's OP in 0 A.D., we just UP it until it's no longer. Pretty quick. Of course there's always the risk that this will throw the rest of the game out of balance, but generally I don't think it'll prove impossible right now. The actually hard part will be thinking of most strategies (I will always remember an AoE II MP game I did a long time ago where a Spanish player won using only his citizens. Turns out with the right upgrades in the castle, the villagers became absolutely OP. That's the kind of thing that is harder to balance. That's the kind of things for which players like TheMista are useful).

  6. I like this approach. I am wondering if you'd consider being a possible "portrait director" for 0 A.D.I'm serious.

  7. Hey, took a look at the additions you made and it looks pretty comprehensive.BTW -- "Duplicarius" is a forum title (based on number of posts), not his name.

  8. Staff signatures used to be standard (and still are for the most part). Size doesn't really matter because it all depends on browser width. Lets just try not to be too liberal with our signatures Bottom line: placing a limit means enforcing it. I'd rather not do that. Guidelines are okay though. Besides, if signatures are outrageously huge, we can notify users

  9. At what stage of development were you guys doing this balancing? Probably after most of the features that affect balance were implemented. Unfortunately we are not yet at that stage, Capturing and Auras alone will both require mass balance changes.

  10. He says it's so early stage that you can't choose civilization. He don't know that that's changed in random. He says that the AI is not good, he don't like that there's no tutorial. Not very good comments, but he recommends download it. Awful review.

  13. Interesting... Hope you could add the Steppes Nations to that expansion!

  14. Actually, we hope to have these factions in the 0 A.D. sequel (more like an expansion pack), tentatively titled '0 A.D. -- Part II.' Imperial Romans -- The era of "The 5 Good Emperors."Eastern Romans (Early Byzantines) -- A mix between the armies of Constantine and Justinian. Heavy cataphractoi, foedorati, limitanei, comitatenses, Scholae Palatinae, et al.Huns (perhaps a generic "steppes" faction with Scythian, Hun, and Sarmation sub-factions?) -- Ox Cart dropsites, buildings that can "pack" and move, etc. Looting bonus.Parthians -- Uber horse archers, silk road.Germans (Goths, Vandals) -- Cheap, fast-building wooden buildings.Dacians -- Falxmen, defensive, reverse-engineered Roman siege equipment.

  15. I even thought about a Germanic civ, because they were enemies of both Romans and Gauls.

  16. This isn't bad. It would probably be better to make this a more generic "Steppes" civilization, then branch into Sarmation and Scythian sub-factions (like the Greeks). Because the Scythians, as far as I know, weren't just a simple branch off of the Sarmations. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
