goldenratiophi
Finally! After all my time here, I finally uploaded an avatar!
Argalius
Why would that deserve a new topic?Anyway, are those fractals on your avatar?
Dnas
Congrats! Now I'll have an easier time recognizing your posts. (I generally look at the avatar first.) @Argalius: That's a fractal... he likes fractals quite a bit.

goldenratiophi
Why would that deserve a new topic?←Because I've always been too lazy to upload an avatar
Lorian
I generally look at the avatar first←Same here, it's annoying when someone changed their avatar

CodeOptimist
Now I'll have an easier time recognizing your posts. (I generally look at the avatar first.) ←Same here, it's annoying when someone changed their avatar ←Ah - I knew I wasn't the only one around here that did that. A while back I made a poll regarding this, but most people said they recognize people by their nickname. Personally, I glance at the avatar first, out of habit, and unconciously memorize everyone's avatars. Then, when people insist on changing them, my brain revolts What type of fractal is that? goldenratiophi
What type of fractal is that?←I was going to use a Mandelbrot, but I thought I'd try something different and use a different sort of Julia Set (can't remember what it was). I was particularly lazy and didn't do anything to make it look nice, but oh well.btw: I look for avatars first also
Aeros
Fractals own. I like the collection of fractal inspired art here http://dreamp.club.fr/gal1e.htm check it out
Yiuel
A fractal based on the golden ratio would have been cool

Black Op
@Clodhopper: Wikipedia is your friend. I suggest you should use it whenever you want more knowledge about something. Wait a sec, I thought Google was your friend..........
goldenratiophi
A Fractal is a set for which the Hausdorff-Besicovitch dimension strictly exceeds the topological dimension.
Ykkrosh
a set for which the Hausdorff-Besicovitch dimension strictly exceeds the topological dimensionThat's an entirely useless explanation There's a song named Mandelbrot Set (from here), which is less technical but slightly easier to understand

Titus Ultor
It should be a rule or something that you can't change your avatar at random. I don't even think of a lot of people's screennames. If Paul didn't have his legionaries, I'd be horribly disoriented for the rest of the year, for example.
Quacker
My avatar so owns yours.
Clodhopper
I think Titus Ultor's avatar goes farther than just about anybody's (Sorry, Quacker). I would go so far as to say that it just isn't fair. Edited April 28, 2005 by Clodhopper
Fire Giant
Wait a sec, I thought Google was your friend.......... :)←Wikipedia is your best friend if you know what you're searching for - Google is if you are not yet too sure. Still, I've also found myself surfing the Wikipedia for random things and reading pages where I got through a lot of link levels. As for recognizing people, I first glance at the avatar, too - if some of you exchanged your avatars, I'd get really confused
