av93
I hope that openage (an opensource genie engine clone) will eventually make a better DE, with gates, triggers, formations, a better pathfinding, while porting the new graphics and animations. Lion.Kanzen
Quote All great points. I agree with you about the AI and pathing issues, as well as the weird limbo AoE:DE got stuck in between keeping the classic mechanics of the game while also half-heartedly updating it into a modern RTS game. It ended up not being modern enough to bring new fans, while also not providing a better experience for existing fans who already used upatch HD. Then you throw the installing and multiplayer bugs on to top of that by Spirit of Law

Lion.Kanzen
https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2019/05/30/microsoft-approach-to-pc-gaming/ DE Edition coming to Steam. edit. Quote In March, we announced that Halo: The Master Chief Collection will come to PC later this year, launching on Steam in addition to the Microsoft Store on Windows. We will continue to add to the more than 20 Xbox Game Studios titles on Steam, starting with Gears 5 and all Age of Empires I, II & III: Definitive Editions. We know millions of PC gamers trust Steam as a great source to buy PC games and we’ve heard the feedback that PC gamers would like choice. We also know that there are other stores on PC, and we are working to enable more choice in which store you can find our Xbox Game Studios titles in the future. How much will the game cost? Do I need to repurchase the game on Steam? No. If you own the Microsoft Store version of Age of Empires: Definitive Edition you will be able to play with Steam version players with crossplay between platforms. Source 3 Will the Microsoft Store version be updated to Win32? To be announced. What are the system requirements? To be announced. My best guess at this time is the game will still require Windows 10. When will the game be available on Steam? To be announced. Will there be support for Steam features? To be announced. FAQ from official Forum. they are accepting Win32 apps. Quote The Microsoft Store will also begin accepting Win32 games, not just the more restrictive Universal Windows Apps. In a big move for its approach to PC gaming, Microsoft has announced that it's planning to bring more Xbox Game Studios games to Steam, freeing them from the confines of the Microsoft Store. That store itself isn't dead and gone—it's part of Microsoft's plans for bringing the Xbox Game Pass subscription service to PC, which it also announced today. But it will no longer be the only way to play those first-party games on PC. "Our intent is to make our Xbox Game Studios PC games available in multiple stores, including our own Microsoft Store on Windows, at their launch. We believe you should have choice in where you buy your PC games," writes Xbox head Phil Spencer. In the past, Microsoft's support of Steam has been spotty. Most of its new games have remained exclusive to the Microsoft Store, which also means they're only available as Universal Windows Apps, a container used on modern Windows with a number of drawbacks for games. UWAs are not nearly as open to modding, overlays, or tools like ReShade, and have been largely unpopular with PC gamers who care about those features. https://www.pcgamer.com/microsoft-games-on-steam-announced/

coworotel
Pathfinding seems good now: It seems that they have some kind of cooperation going on... I know that traditionally pathfinding algorithms are individual-based, but it seems here that they are doing some kind of multi-agent cooperation. Lion.Kanzen
The second Beta for this game. Quote Hi there! As we mentioned in the email, this AoE: DE Beta is to ready up for the game’s release to Steam and cross-network play. It’s a completely optional opportunity, and anyone who chooses to take part in this beta will still be eligible for a chance to take part in the AoE II: DE Beta in the future. Many users annoyed by this. Because many of therm wants test the other game AoE 2 DE.
