wowgetoffyourcellphone
I was think of cool way to improve the feel of the game. The ambiance. Lately, I have been playing this Youtube video in the background for icy and desert matches:And as I zoom in and out it strike me. What if this "windy" ambient noise increase as you zoom out and the game music decrease as you zoom out. The windy sounds decrease as you zoom in and the music increase. Karamel
This could be cool In that way (I know, when someone brings up an idea, I get a few more easy ones), why not playing civilization music when in territory (or mostly around buildings)? So when managing your town, you get that really nice peacefull music and when going out scouting or anything, you only get the ambiant noises like the wind, birds, water shore or other. And we need footsteps

Lion.Kanzen
In nomad mode can be a hostile ambience sounds, some like Silent Hill dark ambience but less intense to try affect the player psych, is not difficult for a sound maker do it.
wowgetoffyourcellphone
This is in the list of things to do.http://trac.wildfiregames.com/ticket/1962Emitter is different than what I propose, because the "windy" sound would be for all map and not dependant on a emitter actor. it would be base purely on zoom level. Volume/gain inverse proportion with music. Edited September 13, 2015 by wowgetoffyourcellphone
feneur
I seem to recall it hasn't been readded since the rewrite of the sound code, but ambient sounds were in the engine previously at least. See binaries\data\mods\public\audio\ambient for the existing ones. I don't seem to recall it being related to music though, so that would most likely have to be a completely new feature.
Wijitmaker
Over a decade ago, the plan was to have ambient sound play a large role in the sound scape for the game - more so than the music. The frequency of music played was a setting in the user configs. Music would be queued on command (attack/under attack) or randomly (frequency settings). The ambiance sounds played were going to be associated with what terrain types were displayed on the screen.http://wildfiregames.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=308http://wildfiregames.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=309We wanted to get away from endless looping of music and have the dynamically change.

feneur
It's staff only Fixed I did lock them though, it's probably more relevant to create new topics if there's something specific one wants to discuss, and Trac tickets to create tasks. Feel free to try to convince me otherwise though
Stan`
Wow Wijitmaker used to write a lot back in the days ^^There are not really places for discussion, and I like stuff set in stone =) Edited September 14, 2015 by stanislas69
av93
The layer concept it's very original. With those documents, you can also imagine previous stages of design documents before the actual (outdated) ones.
