Rules for competitive multiplayer games - Do we need to set up a "code of conduct" or "community mp guidelines" ?

no that's a terrible example, swearing or any derogatory words is usually funny or sarcastic

except that people that think this way are a very small minority. Sure, some people think being racist is funny, but almost everyone disagrees. So you are plain wrong. It's not "usually funny", you usually think it's funny, even though no one else laughs.

in my hosts I allow some curse words, when used in normal speaking, but not when used to offend or insult. Frankly, spamming swearwords and slurs is annoying on top of being unfunny.

i also disallow automation tools found in certain mods because they are not fair. I think more hosts should do this, especially for competitive games (see title) where a level playing field is important.

better to be a fairy in your eyes, than a nuisance in everyone elses eyes!

(Also better to be a fairy than a human tbh)

A fairy can fly and has magic abilities, thats pretty OP indeed.

I think Barcodes understands very well that certain expressions are inappropriate, he just values his "entertainment" more than the well beeing of his fellow players. ( As i understand him) Fit young white straight men are rarely beeing referenced by such expressions and therefore lets assume in his defence, he does just not understand the possible impact.

how do we know he is fit? he spends so much time at his computer making fun of others :)

but yes, well said in general.  Healthy white straight men are rarely picked on, made fun of.  Sometimes I feel guilty to be in that category as all my friends are being attacked and I'm not just because i was born "lucky."

@MarcusAureliu#s I'm in support of a game mis conduct code.  And if people repeatedly break it, just don't allow them to play in your games, don't join their hosted games.

Spoiler

It's quite pathetic to see you playing the victim. You don’t have any 'advantage' or 'luck' being a straight white man, you're simply in the norm, where you should be. Change countries and you might find your status could be different.
We are not smarter or stronger. We are just normal.

The straight white man has no privilege, that’s nonsense. It's just economic factors, influences, and power dynamics at play.
Let me remind you that the white man is a minority on Earth, even though it may seem surprising. We don’t count for much in terms of numbers at the scale of humanity. And in the end, the world is not just Western-centered. Look at Asia or the Middle East. Do you think the men of Singapore play the victim when talking about themselves? No, they are proud. They don't feel advantaged because of their skin color.

People come to a country and place themselves in a delicate situation for entirely legitimate reasons. Even with the best intentions, it is impossible to give everyone the same rights. Equality is a big scam; it doesn’t even exist between people of the same color, as you said.
Your genetics, your environment, and your family determine 80% of everything, 20% is in your hands, it’s your leverage.

The problem has nothing to do with color, sex, or gender; it’s simply about social hierarchies.

Everyone should be able to be proud of who they are, no matter their skin color – including white people. Constantly insisting on racial differences, as some so-called progressive discourses do, ends up perpetuating what they claim to fight against. True anti-racism is not about privileging one group to compensate for another; it’s about treating every individual with the same dignity. So-called 'positive discrimination' is still a form of discrimination and divides more than it repairs.

A person is not born racist, but they are born with predispositions to distrust what is different. Racism is learned. And education, in its broadest sense, can free us from it. I’ll leave you to conclude on which peoples have the most and least access to education.

The white man is the only one carrying the burden of historical repentance: colonization, slavery, etc. He apologizes — sometimes sincerely, sometimes symbolically — but at least there is an effort at recognition. What I never see, however, are official apologies from Arab states or other historical powers for their role in the slave trade. Yet, the Eastern slave trade lasted longer than the transatlantic trade and affected millions of Africans.
The worst part is that many people don't even know of its existence, as if history only deserves to be examined when it concerns the West. This selective amnesia clearly shows that repentance is not universal: it is political, cultural, and often one-sided, and some even consider it self-destructive. If we really want to face history, we must do so in its entirety.

So: the host makes his own rules. If he's not fair, people will dodge him. There's also the option to mute with autociv. This solves 90% of problems.
