i dont think HP's should be based on a units "health" but more along the lines of a units armour/defences. for example, leather armour will become usless after a few shlashes and jabs of a sword, HP's should be based on the deterioration of a units amour. After the amour "falls apart", the units would become very vulnrable

in the game Battle Realms, units do all the cool martial arts animations when fighting

Has Anyone Seen The Trailer For Troy?
Ulysses S Griffin replied to ElfTheHunter's topic in General Discussion
well since ive never read the myth of troy, its probably in there that 100,000 men sailed to seige troy or somthing (you know how myths and legends exagerate things ) btw the movie looks cool ...it comes out in may though. , the movie already looks complete tho -

Game Review: Age Of Mythology Demo
Ulysses S Griffin replied to CodeOptimist's topic in General Discussion
i was really excited about AoM aswell, but microsoft blabbed out too much info about the game, by the time i played the game, it was like i had bought it 5 months before it came out. ...but still the game is great imo (particulary the campaign...very addictive storyline, not one bit believable ) -

Game Review: Empire Earth - Art Of Conquest
Ulysses S Griffin replied to CodeOptimist's topic in General Discussion
yes, Mac Doc and Sierra failed miserably to create a successful expansion pack to a really great game, the "special buildings" and "abilities" truely screwed up the balance of the game, Sierra didnt even seem to care about how development was going. the only thing that seems to even be an improvement of the game is the multiplayer interface making the games beta version "demo" downlodble for everyone to play was also a terrible idea. they shold have waited a little longer for the expansion to be released without any setbacks before a demo was to be released -

yes, everything you said about the game was true, the game imo, also shows you how a 3d "empire building" rts should look like -

How Do You Rate The Current 0ad Site ?
Ulysses S Griffin replied to DarkAngelBGE's topic in General Discussion
i think the site needs to be re-catigorised and simplified, so its easier to find what you're looking for. plus a little box showing forum activity eg. new posts, hot threads, new members -
the thing that got me about EE the most was the generic civs, the lack of economic abilities(trade, team eco scores etc) and the fact the the ai "cheated" which was really hard to beat!
-
Better yet, they can buy EDMW at the shops. I was released today. So now you can actually see the full amount of uniqueness of each civ in the game:)

3000-2850 BC: the weaving loom arrives in europe from the Near East 30 BC: Mark Antony and Cleopatra commit suicide. Rome takes ove Egypt AD 54: Nutty Nero rules Rome AD 1317: Pope John XXII bans alchemy courtacy of the Horrible Histories Collection (i know its for childeren, but the magazines hold tonnes of info on all of human history , theyre great...pretty funny too)

that was an awsome review, straight to the point and not one bit overrated. What you said about the music was true, the main menu especially. ES had done a spectacular job with the opening theme in both AoK and AoM. I also btw, find myself humming the the AoK them quite often. A catchy, memorable, non annoying opening theme is probably one of the things that people most remember about AoK (da daaa dadada daaa -- da daaa dadada daaaaaa!! ) Also, a famous time period is what gets anyoe interested in a game...you dont often see a popular stone age or victorian era game you ya ? the time period focused in 0ad is one of the most famous and favorite points in human history, which is obviously great for Wildfire Games what you said about the animation was also true, i still think its the best animation out there (along with EDMW, which i think is great). i liked them because the units actually looked like they were on the ground, not floating off the ground, like you see in most 3d games these days
