  1. yes, the pathfinding did suck in AoE, bigtime, esp. with those darn ships, not even smart enough to sail around a small island
  2. yes, upgrading roads at the market, that would be the best place to put that upgrade
  3. i never knew that minimising GUI would still let you build and research in AoM
  4. a jesus unit: P lepurs assorted rugs and mats
  5. ""The plan is that paths will naturally develop on terrain that is frequently walked upon. Paths will provide a movement bonus to units and other types of terrain will hinder movement. I'm not sure if any of the civilizations will be able to build roads though. That's a question for the designers. "" oh that is cool, will roads look more elaborate over time(Lke from dirt tracks to city streets)? The idea reminds me of setttlers IV
  6. i would like a advanced chat windo and a simple chat window like AoK
  7. why no, no-one did actually:P, i skimmed the first page of posts, an there wasnt . There was just somthing similar, where defenses would be stronger to discourage rushing (mmm beer)
  8. "Yes you are right but we should have the choice of the settings at the beggining of the game" heh, its funny how no-one here has ever thought about having an option to turn borders on or off:) actually that would be a very very good idea !! it will allow "rush lovers" to play the game stle they love, and it would also allow the "rush haters" to play the game not worrying about forward building and early rushes (this was so obvious its funny!)
  9. assorted "native" buildings, like those twig huts in AOE 1
  10. "let's just keep the game with easy without making it to complicated" thats exactly how i feel about the game
  11. thats why i said advance your city , not advange to the next age thx for the quick reply:)
  12. i mean that what if all players wont be offensive because they are waiting for the enemy to come to them because they want the combat bonus? players will want kill off the offending team with the combat bonus, so that they can make a counter offencive without any troubles because the enemy has no soldiers left and is trying to rebuild soldiers, but he cant rebuild cause half his city is already destroyed from the counter offensive? *gasp*(need air after that speech )
  13. what i mean is does the "look" of the buildings change when you advance your city? does the game start off in shacks and end off in Marble houses plated with Gold (slight exaggeration there but you get my point )
  14. the ability of turning a quaint and pretty farming village into a fledging empire:)
  15. yeah, but ive come to realise that having to scale ships would suck, simply because of all the hassle it would require to get the boat together, the amount you'd have to zoom out to see a fleet of 5, it would just be annoying. id now rather have it like AoK scale ships, just *slightly* larger like %25-50 larger, but still having nice animations like small, animated catapults firing off the ships and hurling arrows firing off the ships aswell (not like EE and RoN, where only one crappy arrow or cannon ball shoots out the ship).
  16. a wonder doesnt gave to be a "game winner" it can be built to give special "super units" as you call them, or they could be used to give "super-upgrades"(such as a %400 increase in harvest yeild) or "civ powers" (such as the romans could have "assimilation"- the ability to capture buildings and "duplicate or copy" enemy special upgrades...of course they would be more expensive and take longer to upgrade for balance reasons).
  17. AoK is the first "complex" game i had ever played (before AoK it was always racing games and flight sims, I didnt know much about games back then), the first time i tried the game was when me and my brother got a free demo CD when we bought sim cards for our mobile phones(somtime in febuary 2000). Straight away I was amazed at the game, every time we advanced to a new age to see the units i was like "WOW, oh god that looks so cool, even the buildings change! Oh what? You can buid castles now? cool!" Not only was the game fun, but it captured my imagination. It took my intrest in history and quadrupled it. No other game has ever done that to me. I guess thats why i think it as my favorite but when i tried it on multiplayer(a year later), i fast learned that not many people thought of the game in the same way as me, it was all about winning and going 100 miles per hour. I hated that...I liked it when i played the campaign of william wallice:)...it was my fav campaign(yes yes, even though it was a tutorial, i just loved the way the narrator talked:) ) hehe, my mum used to have dreams of this medieval chinese city with this large beutiful building(a wonder) because she saw me play:P Nowadays, games have become shallow imo, its all about the graphics and new features that dont really give you any special "advantage". Games Nowadays just dont capture that special somthing (i dont even know that that special somthing is, but it is there:P) that makes a good game great. hitman2 imo had that special somthing, it made me feel the same way as it did with AoK and AoE(i got AoE after i got AoK, just to see what it was like...i loved it too). AoM i also like, but unfortunatly it didnt give me that feeling...the game just reminds me of a far too pushy multiplayer game... thats my "life" story:) (sorry for it being so long:P)
  18. how about catacombs, and gravestones/monuments? EDIT: sorry about the double post, must have doubleclicked "reply"
  19. thats a nice list.....will the buildings be in the game?
