We can't give out exact numbers since they won't represent the framerate you'll be getting when the game is finished.
2 years from now we don't want people going "What! How come I get 30 FPS when earlier you guys said you were getting ## FPS"
Also right now the frame rates are very high because there isn't all that much to render and the game doesn't have to do alot of the calculations for AI and other systems like it'll have to do in the final product, those systems have yet to be fully implimented.

Yes, all shadows are dynamic meaning their position will be affected by the underlaying terrain and the lighting source (the sun). I don't know exactly how our shadows work because I'm not a programmer, but the performance is based on the quality of the shadows which will be adjustable (lower end system will have lower quality shadows, or no shadows at all, where as higher end systems will have much better looking shadows).
The shadows are not something that won't be able to be rendered at more than 60 FPS on the average machine in 2006.
Right now they perform very well and will perform even better later on as more tweaking and optimising is done.

Argalius you didn't read any of it because you completely missed the point
The point is not quantum mechanics, but how that website managed to weave pictures of Britney spears into the page and diagrams. It's a Britney Spears fansite, and it talks about quantum mechanics. I don't think anything could play more to that stereotype unless, maybe, if they added a Dungeons and Dragons section.

That's what games'll look like in 2006/2007 - the game is being developed for PC and Xbox 2 (possibly other next-gen consoles too)
-
It looks smoother and better, easier to impliment, and units move through elevation smoother.
Cossacks is an example of a 2d game with 3d terrain.
-
Right now theres alot of other more important things that need to be made and put into the game besides a dripping water effect - Otherwise it's possible to put an effect like that in the game, it wouldn't require any extra code (after the weather system is made).
For now it's still an idea, we can't promise it'll make it in the game.
-
How would they have looked like when the camera is tilted or rotated, though
That wouldn't even be possible since the game would be 2D.
-
That persian render is very old, back from 2 years ago when 0AD was going to be a 2d/3d hybrid (2d units and buildings, 3d terrain). We actually have alot more renders like that on the site http://wildfiregames.com/0ad/album_cat.php?cat_id=6
And all those things you found are just from Jason's personal portfolio where theres just samples of his work.

The new one will rule even more when it's finished
that's the reason.

women and men have different bonusses or something
Hehe, I think it would be an insult or atleast an easy break if we make women villagers gather 10% faster or male villagers carry 10% more or something like that, no the difference between them isn't in their statistics but in their role in the game. I'll let you speculate on what that means.
-
Im about 60% sure.
I'm 100% sure that theres female villagers in 0AD
, and their role is abit different from male villagers, aka Citizen Soldiers.

One day we might, for now we're very strict on what's officially released, but that's because we're at such an early stage in development.

wow, you guys have some really negative views towards having a partner form the other sex

that's the funny part, Auron, the puppets and especially the way they move. Sometimes they make it look bad/fake on purpose.
-
It taxes the processor.
However, we too have been thinking of multiple light sources, having shadows flicker and move arround a campfire certainly would be cool. It's still just something "to think about" though
we want to get an idea on performance before trying anything like that.

Heck, it's from the creators of South Park. It's comedic gold.

. I have personally HATED Corel products
urg, ditto that

I'd play CS more if people didn't play dust all the time
and IMO, I think Far Cry still has the most realistic graphics - while doom 3 has the most sci-fi graphics, and HL2'll have the most real-world graphics (Until Stalker comes out)
-
Wait for it
Something's comming along. Not a day goes by that we don't make any progess - when we feal "finished" with what we're working on, we'll ofcourse show it in some screenshots.
You can speculate on what's comming up by checking out the monthly summaries of what we've finished. Silence only means we're spending that much more time working on this beauty of a game.

But, I must say: Given the choice between this and the ES GUI, I would rather use this one hands down.
Yeah, honestly
that's some impressive design and insight on GUI, Stuart
It'd make 0AD that much cooler if we use a different interface system, then people will have to re-adapt to 0AD - it'll be like playing a completely different RTS if we mix things up that way.
And I'm really digging the spheres and rounded objects - reminds me of the shape of the 0 in 0 A.D. (Symbolism)

Nevermind, I went ahead and flashed it's BIOS and unlocked it as a 9700 Pro. The results are sweet and not only that I can overclock the hell out of it. I'm a happy man.
-
I loves me some Overclocking, I want to overclock my Radeon 9500 Pro. Now theres this tool that most people use for OCing a radeon card called ATI Tool - you just slide a slider and click aply and it's OCed.
But mine doesn't do that, the values reset themselves, which is lame and uncool, especially when you really want to overclock that graphics card.
So uh...help? And now I haven't flashed my card's BIOS, you don't need to do that when you've got a utility like ATI Tool.
This probably has been asked before but..

Rise of Nations utilized alot more 3d though and had more 3D units. The result was a game that look 3D, but wasn't
so you couldn't rotate the camera or do very many cool things, makes you wonder what was the point.
