  1. While looking around Gamespy last night, I saw their massive advertisments that World of WarCraft is having Stress Test for a week and subscribers to Fileplanet get a guaranteed spot on the test...

I am glad to announce, I am now a Fileplanet Subscriber (and it is pretty cool not having to wait in line)

Just finished downloading the massive 2GB WoW file and am now installing.

  2. I did have fun, and a big chunk of the classes are Java. Now I don't know what you're saying about .net, but the IDE we're using is C# Studio.Net but I'm guessing that's nothing to do with each other.

I actually was surprised to find out about IDEs, expected just plain old codding not a scenario editor (hehe). My other class is Structured Programming where I'll learn the structure and design of programming, not the syntax. But we'll be using Liberty BASIC and my teacher didn't seem fond of it :D

  3. While I avoid my duties for as long as possible (should be writting a document) I decided I'll answer some of these posts (nothing too detailed, don't get your hopes up)

Forces of Darkness will be powerful, not going to lie to you, but they'll have their disadvantages. Like any civ, if you learn the disadvantages and learn the benefits of the civ, you can win (unless someone knows their civ better). Some will be harder to play as, some will be easier (we're not attempting an even match, because that's not the case in the books) but we will try to make things as close to each other as possible so there's a chance of you winning, even if playing with the weaker civ.

About ents and eagles, they are considered under the same catagory as hobbits... yea they played a big role in wars and the history of ME, but they were not forces/factions and as such will be represented in their specific part of history, not the general unspecified period of random maps.... to explain myself, think of the Frank/French in AoK. Joan of Arc is one of the biggest parts of French history, yet she was not avaiable or mentioned in random maps. But in the single-player campaign they included her, it's the same sort of deal here.

  4. Finally, after the third installment it worked out of the blue! Ok, my impressions:

First I'm mad at the lack of options in graphics and stuff (well, there's options but they don't do anything so far). And I would like a taste of the TBS part (or do you guys know if it's all real-time)? I assume it's the same as M:TW.

Anyway, other than those few problems, and the new camera sheme I love everything about it. I got my butt kicked when I tried it on hard, but on medium I managed (and this time knowing my troops will desert me if I keep my general out of battle) to massacre the romans (my war elephants didn't get to be the stars of the battle though, my sacred cavalry was)

Anyway, I love everything about this game and can't wait to buy it. Now I wanna see battles at night and in heavy rain... with orcs! :D

  5. I have just finished my first PSEO class (post-secondary enrollment option, which is basically going to college courses while still in highschool) and I took two classes C# and Strutured Programming. My impressions have been pretty interesting so far, though a lack of a laptop still worries me (they don't really offer computers, or they do but you're not allowed to save to the network unless you're a full student).

But it is interesting, he mainly showed us how to use Visual C#.net (provided with the book, which was free in my case) and we just did some simple textbox that when a button got clicked the text would show Yahoo! (which I know is extremely simple, but for someone with the most background programming is basics of HTML and AOK AI scripts... it's really interesting)

I'm sure there's already been a topic about which language you guys prefer, but how about your impressions about C#

  6. I hate you!

LOL, j/k... my demo has not worked (crashed when loading the turorial or the battle)... the sounds gets stuck, repeating itself and nothing happens (some times windows just plain restarts).

Been trying to figure out what's wrong all day (since noon) but there's no where to look to for help, as no one has had a chance of posting anything up yet.

I thought it was because of DirectX but I have 9.0c (and tried 9.0b), updated all my drivers (though I had already done that for Doom 3), I tried all the settings in options but nothign works. Maybe tomorrow I'll google it again and hope I find something.

  7. it's defragged... well, my program and documents partition, the windows partition I've defragged 11 times one after the other but it will not get better, always after analyzing it tells me to defrag, it just can't do a good job at it... yea, looking like a reinstall of windows might not be a bad idea :D

  8. Not quite sure, but it's only really bothered me recently, so my guess is recently... can't remember if it's a long time thing or not.

Actually, it MIGHT have been during the time I was interested in my temperature and looking at that (but I've already removed PC Alert from my processes and it doesn't help).

Anyway, will appreciate any ideas anyone has :D

  9. My computer will sometimes freeze, like take a short while (1-5 secs) where mouse and keyboard and anything don't work but their commands stack so if I type a word when this happens once it resumes that word will type out on Word. I removed all spyware and viruses but nothing has helped. I've wondered if background processes are the cause (clogging up my resources, though on a 2.4 Ghz it shouldn't happen). There are a large number of these, I removed as many from the startup with msconfig but not all are avaiable...

Anyway, these freeze ups never happen when playing a game, only when surfing the net, windows explorer or stuff like excel or Word... I'm lost (and I'm hoping it's solvable without reformatting) or for that matter, I hope it's solvable.

  10. nah, listed on Eletronic Boutique and from Valve itself. The release of Doom 3 (or whichever won the race) was bound to force other ones to wrap things up. Fable. Rome: Total War. World of WarCraft. Everquest II. Grand Theft Auto. Battle for Middle-Earth. Metal Gear Solid 3. Halo 2 (though they announced their date long ago) They all are gold or going gold, listed on EB with release dates before the end of the year.

Now let's celebrate, the age we've waited so long has arrived :D

Now all that is missing is a release date for Stalker.

  11. Yea, price and power both had a role in the winner (thus why your system didn't win, it was too expensive). Now to be honest king's and lorians systems were so close that it could have been either one... I mean close in power for cost, what won me over was the case and motherboard but looking back now King's packs a really strong punch for the buck... :D

Well sorry if this was a bit unfair guys, but at least the idea is out there and better contests can be organized in the future.
