  1. Do it

Was that influenced by Starsky and Hutch at all (great movie btw).

Yea, as far as I'm concerned 768 is not good enough for me (I've got a gig and wanting more :D) But the problem now is that my mobo offers two slots for ram, and they are used by 512 sticks so if I go to upgrade I gotta buy two 1 gig sticks (really expensive) or just one and stay at 1gram for a while before I get the other one.

I can't mix diff size ram sticks right? If I could it would be a lot cheaper

  2. As far as I'm concerned this is Shyamalan's second time using that tool/method. In Unbreakable it was nothing similar to this plot at all, and Signs wasn't very similar either (unless you count the water surprise, but that's not much of a revelation to put it in the same par as sixth and village, just a normal/good plot twist that is similar to common movie twists).

But you know, thinking about it... in Signs he managed to make that twist totally unexpected (at least for me) and in Village it almost feels like he meant to tell you about the twists, they just are not hidden very well at all. Anyway, supposidly his next one won't be a thriller (y)

  3. I cracked open my case to have a look at my fans and see what arrengements could be made (here's my fan count btw, cpu, graphics card, 2 rear, 1 side, PSU). Well increasing airflow from the front will be hard as the plastic front has no grill so air can't get through, but I thought it would be ok, I at least have a side one to bring air in. Well, upon closer inspection I realized it was sending air out as well.

So I flipped it the other way and came back to check the results.

The system temp dropped from a steady 35C to 32C, and the cpu on idle dropped from a 50-52 to a 46-48 so it must have helped. Are those more normal numbers? When loading Halo it got a max of 54C, before it would reach 62C.

This is quite cool, actually noticing the difference (y)

  4. Hey guys, what's the equivilant in AMD form of a 3.0 Hyperthreading Intel Pentium 4? And that motherboard, it's AMD based so I can't put a intel chip in it right (I'd need to find another motherboard right)

    I found a Intel Pentium 4 3.0Ghz Hyperthreading for $220 and a AMD Athlon 64 3400 for $320... which is a better deal?

  5. Right now, according to MSI's PC Alert tool my CPU is 52 C and my system is 36 C.

Then my CPU fan is 3245 (no idea what this number means) and both my system fan and ps fan are 0 (though they are running on the system so I guess just not recognizing it).

Anyway, could someone with more knowledge give insights to optimal numbers to have?

  6. $2400-$2800 here, that was what I put down after buying a new comp from Cyberpower in May 2003, my previous comp was bought in 2000. I know it'll be a lot cheaper now, but I still think that price counts (not too long ago). Oh yea, that's with all acessories and monitor and printer and scanner, etc.

  7. Decide how much you will choose, general ideas is how much you payed for it... but if really old then maybe how much you think it's worth right now. Just pick a number you think is fair, because there's factors like upgrades, time and better deals that make it all estimation pretty much.

  9. Yea, even though I had read about the flashlight in previews when I started playing and realized that my flashlight and weapon were different things I thought:

    Oh crap...

But now I enjoy the extra "on-edge" and fear it gives... do you remember the first power outtage as you are looking for scientist? I was like, oh no... don't move they won't notice you. What a relief when it came back on (y)

  10. LOL

But I myself find Doom 3 amazing. It was tough to put it down, but I managed to control myself (only 2 hours into it) to put it down, I want to finish Far Cry before I continue with Doom... only 4 levels to go on FarCry. I don't want to play both of them at the same time... or at least I want to try to finish FarCry. But yes, from what I played of Doom it's both brilliant and scary as hell! Although quite simple, would like to see some more of their physics in the gameplay (they do have physics in the engine, more advanced than FarCrys and vehicles as well, but they just aren't used in the game).

Anyway, can't wait to play Half Life 2 and compare the two technologies.

About Unreal 3, don't compare it to Doom 3... that's like comparing Age of Empires to Age of Kings. It will still be at least two years till Unreal 3 Engine is used in a game, and by then id should have another game out. (from Camracks mouth, id plans to take half as long for their next game, which will be a complete new license)
