  1. Nah, it's okay. I looked it up. Silly English... just about every word has some sort of profane alternate meaning.
  2. Chinese don't all eat cats. Most don't. It's very very rare, and more of a snobbish rich delicacy thing. Do a Google on it... you'll see what I mean. (Though, on the subject of what Chinese eat... frogs are delicious. )
  3. LOL! Cheney strikes again! That website is hilarious. I'm going to make tons of those. EDIT: Cheney's first name is a censorable word? Meh, my knowledge of English profanities clearly isn't all that broad.
  4. Gato is Spanish for cat. The Chinese for cat is mao. (Of course, it's not written that way. ) What's everyone got against China? Seriously, just about everywhere I go, there are people racist against the "effing asians". (No, I'm not offended or anything by this topic, but it's certainly an interesting observation for me. )
  5. ¡Hola! I was wondering when you'd register... I mean, I only linked here ever other day or something. Anyway, to WFG!
  6. IIRC, we are planning to use both bone-based and vertex-based (mainly for stuff like trees) animation. I would expect you'd be able to attach a vertex based one to a bone-based one without trouble.
  7. Cool! Another fellow Linux user! Well, the game will run Linux regardless of open source-ness. And I somehow doubt we'll prevent distros from putting it in their repositories (I don't know), so at least it'll end up in the non-free sections of them. And we're making as much of the game as scriptable as possible, so you could do quite a lot without editting the the engine.
  8. Why would you need a 3d program to change a UI? Generally UIs are not 3d models (thankfully). That would be silly. You should probably be able to change it by modifying the images (and of course the text files that control the UI).
  9. We use our own custom model format. We will write importer and exporter tools for as many things as possible. (Certainly Blender because I use Blender too, and, if nothing else I'll practice some more in Python and write the scritps myself. )
  10. You'll have difficulties doing it directly due to Microsoft's ridiculous closed document formats. Perhaps make a script to put it into a csv file (IIRC that syntax is easy?) and then import the csv file into the dreaded program.
  11. Well, to be fair to open source... the programs that have come from it are quite good... really good... as in... I use them pretty much exclusively... haven't seriously used Windows for ages. (I'm on Windows right now due to just having to do some minor work and not feeling like walking over to the Linux computer, but I'm seeing serious defects in just browsing and copying text, not to mention fitting with my work habits (which, incidentally have been the same even before I found Linux... Windows simply has never fit well for me)) I've yet to see any of the projects I use turn into a "bad mix". But open source might not fit so well in our situation.
  12. you seem quite confident in your list. ...very odd... an open source person supporting DirectX???? BTW, we use OpenGL, so your list is incorrect. Anyway... We are considering the possibility of open sourcing the engine after the release. But... probably not...
  13. Flag would be easy. Red WFG logo on white background. Already is recognizeable and kind of like Japan's flag. (Red shape on white.)
  14. LOL! And they punish others for selling cheese sandwiches.... at least those people actually will sell it.
  15. @Belisarivs: Odd... I'm getting that too... Oh! It's because the first method sends you to a URL without the www.
  16. *deletes cookies* *goes around board* Yup. All good. (Note to others: try deleting cookies from both wildfiregames.com and www.wildfiregames.com)
  17. Hmm... maybe it's... I do remember (from one of the 14-page articles I read when I tried to write a photo album without knowing MySQL and sessions and stuff ) that IE doesn't honor some settings of sessions or something like that (or maybe that was screwiness with caching... my memory is bad), so you have to mess with workarounds and add some lines of code and stuff... Maybe something got added that tells the browser to change its cookies and IE doesn't honor the setting? No idea what kind of setting or anything would do that though... I barely know enough about sessions to do a login (since that's all I needed). Dunno, just a fairly random idea. It's weird though... sometimes I get the error, sometimes I don't... it's mainly with the private forums though. EDIT: seems to be fixed on this compy... but that could just be the cookies on this one.
  18. lol, Mole Day. Wouldn't June 23rd work better? Since 6*10^23 is a bit more specific to the number. (Esp. since a lot of calculators would write it as 6E23.)
  19. Hmm... is there any reason some users' names don't show? Or is it something up with my computer.
  20. Nice. Keep forgetting to look at my post count (or post much for that matter. ) Cool, I Have Reached 1500 Posts ! Space between Posts and the ! is as intentional as the space in the topic title.
  21. It's probably a bit early for that now. And probably makes more sense for a staff member to make the post. Don't worry, if no one else does it, I'll certainly make the post asking for the help when the time comes (and if one of us doesn't make the script), since I use Blender for my 0ad work.
  22. Celts because they have by far my favorite helmets. Shiny....
  23. Welcome to Wildfire, David! It feels so weird saying "Hello, David" when your own name is David.
  24. Ah. Well, I'll work around it with {sup} then.... but it would be nice if the smallest font size were a bit smaller.
