  1. I like reading the translations myself. When the International Children's Games came to Cleveland I tried to talk to some of the French, but all I could get was a 'Bonjour'. I did converse with a Swiss though
  2. Wow Cornell seems like an interesting college I like the class names. Pretty much all the schools I've been to are quite technical As for my schedule this year, I'm stuck inside the insidious IB system (jk it's not that bad but I have virtually no choices in courses)... High Level A1 English, Standard Level B1 French, HL Biology, HL North/South American History, Philosophy, Study Hall, SL Math II, Study Hall. Got 2 study halls this year
  3. Here's a random sig I found in my hard drive, this thread inspired me to remember it... Don't ask why it says "Jonas is so freaking amish" , I just threw it together whilest browsing this photoshop site: Good-Tutorials.com
  4. Well, I have corn fields on one side of my house (corn fights anyone?) and developments on the other. It's nice and quiet in the country, unless of course the forge is burnin' and the blacksmiths are hammerin' I think I'm gonna go to college in the city though, I just came back from Atlanta and if you get past the horrible traffic and heat, its pretty cool (especially midtown where GT is).
  5. no, I was not involved in any dirt throwing when I see a cop car I don't throw things at it! I just thought the stroke thing was funny, I don't know why a something like that would make the front page... Adam has a fine collection of scanned police blotters, I'm getting mine started since I just got a new scanner.
  6. Well, I was reading through the local weekly fishwrap (newspaper) and I found this interesting news article: Well, it certainly makes me feel safer knowing that the police are doing their best in this age of suicide bombers and global terrorism. Oh, and by the way, I have never been in the police blotters yet (to my knowledge) On the front page, we find out that there is a new pastor in town, summer Bible school is closing down. There is also a picture of a swimmer that says "Stroke, stroke, stroke" (no kidding)
  7. about 20/80, and I'm applying to the air force academy obviously not to be a pilot...
  8. Now that adam's graduated I'm probably the most random person in the school I take my role very seriously.
  9. Well there's a Chipotle near me, but I never go to it, since the highly superior QUIZNO'S is in the same strip. It is funny hearing people try to pronounce the name at first (chip-otel)
  10. I'm noctorious in my class for never studying for tests, and always doing well on them I also never take notes, and procrastinate just about every essay and project. I'm really not a model student, but I squeak out a 4.4 GPA while doing two sports I really need to work on my essays though, it's difficult for me to organise my thoughts and get the word lengths...
  11. I would suggest buying a 'verbpack' for french. It basically contains all the conjugations for all the standard verb forms (close to a 100, but they're all pretty similar) and of course a list of all the other verbs and which one of the examples they follow. That book has helped me very much in French class (quick, what is conditional vous form of pleuvoir? ) As for other vocabulary, there are normally books for that at the library.
  12. Ah, the exact stuff we just finished (mendel genetics)! I'm a junior in high-level IB Biology, that stuff's pretty common in high school bio though..
  13. π if only we had days for all the other constants, maybe a mole day (6/02), e day (2/7)... C day wouldn't work, since the speed of light is 2.99*10^8
  14. percentile is what level your score is at, so the 20th percentile would be greater than 20% of the people being scored, and less than 80% of the rest. I thought I clicked male, oh well The scores aren't obviously some thorough evaluation of health anyways.
  15. so.. 'il y a beaucoup de grands livres' is right? ah French Canadian, they have different words for everything! je m'en fous sounds interesting, since 'fous' is 'insane', right? next question: how often do you need to use subjunctive? One teacher said that it is common, the other said that only some people use it
  16. Try this page to get your BMI (Body Mass Index). I have 18.8 kg/m2 , which is in the 13th %tile for Americans B-)
  17. I have a few random things I keep messing up in French, if anyone could help that'd be great -When you use the phrase "Il y a beaucoup de ..." do you put the nouns in plural or singular? -does de + une and simplify to something besides d'une? -What is the phrase for 'I don't care' (would be useful in class ) -is the word for sloth (the animal) paresse or paresseux? -and more, when I think of them
  18. good topic. Like ph4tom, I rarely take notes, especially in math or science classes. Important equations and examples normally work though. As for history (my main note-taking class) I wield a bic 4-color pen and make my notes gaudy: green for chapter titles, blue for major section titles, red for detail section titles, and everything else in black. Fits the book we use well Color-coded notes are really good though, once you get a system down its very easy to go back through them when craming for a midterm
  19. has anyone else heard of 'Hearts of Iron'? It has some problems, but is one huge WWII game, hehe I conquered all of S America as Argentina once..
  20. I made almost $2k last summer working at a university library ($7 an hour, and there was no schedule at all, I just showed up and left when I wanted), but I only got the job because my mom works there. Yeah I know its nepotistic Try a local library if you can, its easy and you get to read lots of stuff on breaks. Its impossible to be bored in a library!
  21. I think about 5'11 pretty tall for my grade, but adam always beats me out where ever we go. hey believe it or not I have a deep russian tan staying outside all summer'll do that for you
  22. 135 pounds, also pure muscle (but not as much seeing I'm a long distance runner )
