  1. ( it is always a pleasure to show my hometown to foreigners! Over 60,000 people come and visit it every year ... including a lot of Belgians and Dutch.
  2. ( You are welcome ... anytime Or better, make a google search with "Moissac" and "Cloister" or "Cloitre" (french version ) Or again, check here
  3. ( Cloister of Moissac here is the website to have a look at pictures : official web page of Moissac You can change the language from French to English or German if you want
  4. ( Welcome back ... it really was a long time ...
  5. ( After I finish correcting my papers for tomorrow, I will come and claim my Silmarilli! Don't even think about sending your dog, Gothmog !
  6. ( Too late, I am a teacher! Besides, I make Silmarilli and Palantiri and I fight the Dark Lord of the Universe during my spare time
  7. ( Hitler, agree ... same reasons ... for being a megalomaniac dwarf who killed millions of people worldwide. and for not knowing what "the aryan race" is ...
  8. ( Well, my hometown in located in the South West of France, near Toulouse (4th biggest town in France and where the Airbus A380 is being built ...). It is right at the foot of hills. It has probably the most beautiful Romans Cloister in the world. It is very famous among Romans Art experts ... and non-experts We have a fruit that is famous as well ... It is called "Chasselas de Moissac" ... it is a golden grape, that is very sweet and sooooo tasty ... Hmmm can't wait for September
  9. ( Sorry to contradict you here, but in France, Jeu, j'eus and je are not pronounced alike either. Same as tas and t'as ... totally different. tas is more like taaa (or tar for our British friends) whereas t'as is pronounced ta as is ta ... Sorry again, but there are some diphtongs in France's French Few, I admit, but there are (ail, feuille, mouiller, etc ...). I use chuis everyday ... I don't think I say je suis in normal speech. I try to speak slowly and correctly to my wife (who is not a natural-born French-speaking person), but otherwise, I contract a lot too ... like chais for je sais ... Anyway, linguistic class over ... it is the holidays guys ... I don't want to hear about linguistics anymore ... My students have asked enough this year
  10. ( Just a remark here ... Is there a phonetical difference between Sokrates and Socrates ?
  11. ( Yeh, ASAP is As Soon As Possible ... I thought it was pretty straight forward!
  12. ( I would have been a lieutenant of King Priam. I would have killed Paris before he even thought of kidnapping Helen from Menelaus ... Hector would have come back to Troy with his fleet and no woman ... Troy would have survived centuries, Achilles would not be famous and Brad Pitt would not earn money on his name
  13. ( That is a brilliant idea ... and new images are needed for TLA
  14. ( Don't worry, I am sure you speak way better than a lot of natural-born French-speaking people here in France
  15. ( Special Curu Traveller's™ Take a small chiapatta bread. Slice it in 2. Place slices of avocado, crispy home-baked bacon, thin pieces of lamb and bits of lettuce. Pour some drops of olive oil on top, ground pepper and rocky sea salt. Place the whole in the oven, just to have it warm up ... and voila! NB: Chiapatta is an Italian bread that you should easily find anywhere ... Choose unclarified sea salt. it tastes a lot better! If you have a waffle maker, you can place the sandwich in it, it will become crispy on top ... Many thanks to the little Italian sandwich shop where I used to go when I worked in London. I will always miss their lovely accent and their low prices!
  16. ( Yes, but there would not be any Coke nor Pepsi if Beer had not been invented centuries before!!!!! (
  17. ( I would have stopped the Anglo-Saxon invasion in England ... There would only be Britons in Great Britain ... The Anglo-Saxons woul dnot rule the world today ... It would be us Celts !!!!
  18. ( I wish I could have voted beer ... ( ( ( But there is no such choice !!!
  19. ( Yes indeed, but at one point, the daily oil exprotation won't raise any longer and oil prices will rise higher and higher ... the whole point is about oil consumption in the US ... I remember when I went to the US, I was outraged by the low price of oil ... it doesn't encourage people to reduce their oil consumption. Moreover, with enormous engines (like what I rented was a V8 3.2l van) you cannot save a penny on oil. When American cars use as little oil as European cars do, maybe there will be a change in oil prices ... Same with electricity producing. Europe has, in the whole, given up oil-produced electricity. France works with 85% nuclear power, Germany is counting on its ecological power, so is Denmark, etc ... Just a remark ... shouldn't this thread be in Hall of Intellectuals?
  20. ( Bienvenue sur le forum! J'espère que tu resteras longtemps ! ça fait plaisir d'avoir un (/une?) autre francophone sur WFG Translation: Welcome to the forum. I hope you will stay long. It is nice having an other French speaking person on WFG
  21. ( Happy Birthday Enarwaen!!! 31 year ... that is a good age for wine
  22. ( Ah! I thought Memorial Day and D-Day was the same ... we don't celebrate Memorial Day in here ... Just D-Day and the end of WW2 on May 8th ... Why is Memorial Day celebrated on May 31st?
  23. ( 7 months, going on my 8th on the 1st of June
