  1. Andrettin, could you send me those building references so I can do more concepts? Thanks in advance.
  2. I need to research a lot more, but horseriding seemed to be a big part of Germanic culture. There's even a (Germanic) rune which meaning is "horse" (ehwaz), symbolizing trust and partnership. About the swords, they were more alike the Norse ones, like this:
  3. Blacksmith with variation. By the way, should we have a stable for the Saxons?
  4. I like this texture, and it's good because it's different from the one from the Norse builginds.
  5. Wow! Sorry for noticing that many weeks after you posted, but the models are looking great! As for the corral texture, I like the middle one better.
  6. I also like the stones. I don't wanna be a pain, but blue staw roof just doesn't seem realistic to me.
  7. I like the buildings so far, but what's the deal with the blue roofs?
  8. We considered adding Japan to the first half of 1000 AD, but we dropped the idea due to the fact the Japanese at the time would not represent the most famous, memorable time in their history (no samurais, no castles, etc). A Japanese faction in the timespan of 0AD would be totally unrecognizable to the public.
  9. I really like them so far, just a couple of notes: the roofs should advance a little more from the ends of the homes, and there's is a very definite line separating the upper and the lower sides of the houses. Also, that little board I've drawn above the doors would be for player color. By the way, putting a little storage thingy behind one of them would be a good idea. I'm being really confusing here, I hope the picture bellow illustrates it better:
  10. I have an idea that may sound wierd, but think about that: we model those 4 houses and we create 2 textures. Then we make a set of each texture, what would give us a total of 8 different houses, thus more varitety and accuracy. By the way, I meant the CC and barracks to be timber frame.
  11. I say we experiment and try both wood (modifyed from the Norse, maybe) and timber frame, since they used both. From what I have seen, the Saxons seemed less architectually skilled than the Norse, so Saxon structures should look "lamer" and a little more primitive. Some constructions used boards, other simple logs. The pictures of West Stow on the first post show this diversity really well.
  12. I don't think so. By the time of 0AD part II, the Germanic buildings would look much more primitive, basically roofs. Like this:
  13. It would be roughly like the Norse longhouse, only wider. Here's a concept for the farmstead/corral:
  14. Thanks . The roof looks Japanese, but I came to know that a lot of Germanic bronze and iron age longhouses look like this. They have somewhat rounded and very smooth edges.
  15. Yes, It's just and expansion. When I first knew about it, I also thought it was a new game
  16. Unfortunately, this one is featuring seemingly only the Chinese, I really wish the Indians and Mayas would join the fight. Actually all the barracks (all the buildings, to be precise), have the same template, the only things that change architectually. from civ to civ are the ornaments. I think buildings in Rise of the East look better, but I'm very excited to play this expansion (just think about a Chinese dragon unit!).
  17. I'm pretty sure most of us are fans of the Age of Empires franchise, and some of us (myself included) hold Age of Mythology even more dearly. It was announced that Forgotten Empires and Skybox are developing a new AoM game: http://www.forgottenempires.net/age-of-mythology-tale-of-the-dragon-announcement My old prayers have been answered
  18. About the dock, I actually thought the same thing. Just the pier looks accurate, it woudn't make much sense for a non naval civ to have elaborate docks.
  19. Here follows more references. Saxons seemed to have used both wood and timber frame equally in their constructions, and despite the examples here, roofs were almost always made of straw. I don't know if we should choose between wood x timber-frame or if we could mess with them both just like the good old Saxons did. ] ]
  20. Let me know if you want concepts for the Franks.
  21. And hopefuly early German history as well. The Saxons are comming Great! So there are no more concepts needed?
  22. Nice! I guess we're done for Norse buildings, right?
