  1. For the others we could use modern equivalent languages, ie: for the Hebrews use Modern, or even classical Hebrew, and the Assyrians can be using classical or modern Aramaic. Babylonians are a slight issue though-- maybe Iraqi Arabic would work? I don't think many people speak Akkadian anymore... :)

we can search if are enough words for the game
  2. Sorry Lion, this time I don't understand your english.. Can you say this differently ?

  3. I seriously would suggest that there be a 1.5 part myself. The Romans and Carthaginians would have no significant changes, but the Hellenes would be divided into the Acaean League, Aetolian League, Macedonians, Seluecids, and Ptolemies. For part one the Romans could be altered to be more like the kind of unit roster mentioned by Livy (refer to Europa Barbarorum to see what I mean.), and an Etruscan Civilization could be included!

I Agree Roman inone the most forget Civs in game, they dont have new things since Idus of March.
  4. I think the correct way to decide which factions enter into the game is the following:

Mythos_Lier has said that the roman civilization is "the centre" of the game. Now in order to choose the other factions we should ask: Which civilizations interacted with rome (as antagonists or major allies)? And a gree to a number (lets say 3).

    1) the persians

    2) the celts

    3) the carthaginians

And add them to the game.

Now ask the same for the persians, Which 3 civilizations interacted with persia (as antagonists or major allies)?

    1) the romans

    2) the mauryans

    3)the macedonians

And add them to the game

And then do the same with the celts, carthaginians, etc.

And if you want to add a new civilization, just ask which of the game factions interacted with them, if they are less than 3, you don't add them, else you add them.

    The Seleucid?

    1) Persians

    2) Rome

    3) ?

So you either quit the Seleucid or make other 1 other civ that interacted with the Seleucid and with other 2 game civs. For example:

    Hellenistic egypt

    1) Persians

    2) Seleucids

    3) Rome

And then you can add the Egyptians to the game and redo the Seleucid "contact" list:

    1) Persians

    2) Rome

    3) ? => Egypt

    And add the seleucids too

So every faction will always have at least 3 historically contact factions in the game and you can start moving away from italy to the rest of the world slowly using this criterium.

    Ruler XD Mythos_ruler
  5. THis sounds like a good idea, though Assyrians/Babylonians/Hebrews will be a problem since they all owned each others territory (part of) in different stages of histroy, and the Babylonians are just technically an offshoot of Assyria anyway.

    I might be wrong.

ah Prquel from 0.AD maybe call: Ancient B.C or 0 A. D : The Bronze Age.

  8. Stay tuned for some more-than-recent screenshots ! Tonight I've been helped on the chat to update my SVN and get all the graphics at the top, so I finally have been able to enjoy the game at its best and took several shots in some maps. This game is... gorgeous !

now you are adicted, check everyday the updates.
  9. A new (and very simple) one :

1600x1200 again. First I produce a good bunch of new wallpapers, and later I will convert them to various sizes.

This one uses the texture of the website's background. FYI, this is a rock texture I shot in Greece this summer :) In Delfi if I remember well...

  10. OK, I finally beat Laconia!!!!!

The tips you guys gave in this thread were indespensible. I was confused about the hotkey for screenshots, so I failed to get some.

By the end, I had taken over the entire West side, had three rings of defensive towers/walls each circling a fortress and civ center.

The whole thing took almost 5 hours (lol). I guess that proves I am smarter than AI by just enough heh.

There is still obviously a lot I need to learn about the game's mechanics. But what fun the learning!

I'm not sure if my victory was legit though; a few observations:

At one point I noticed an entire column of invaders being driven back by two pikemen. I noticed the pikemen were not taking damage,

and they basically dove that column away. After this point, the enemy seemed only to attack in dribs and drabs.

The gods of game glitches smiled on me?

It seemed at a certain point the AI just gave up, and focused itself on fortifications.

Once I marched into their territory for the final blow, they did put up a good fight, though.

I'd like to highight the way these battles/wars seem always to end (for me, anyway, so far):

Generally, a tattered remnant of various fighters finds a femle of the opposing society wandering the woods, or tilling a field, and dispatches her to the ether just before the victory flourish. In the last game I played (Arcadia 2), one of the last sounds was the baby crying as a female Gaul put her house up just before being gutted by a Spartan Pikeman. That house was the last Gaul structure standing, and it stood for only a few seconds.

I find it interesting how the true horror of war is preserved and presented in this game.

Arcadia 2 took me eleven and one half hours (yes, I know I'm probably doing something wrong). At the end, I really felt as though I'd been through a war. It was exciting, difficult, harrowing, grinding, exhausting and painful. I really lke this game!

    Thanks for reading, all!
