  1. about Cretan archers as Auxiliaries. Although archery was not highly thought of as a military skill in Greece, Crete produced truly excellent archers who were able to sell their services to the highest bidder as mercenaries. Firing bronze-tipped arrows from their heavy self bows, Cretan archers tended to carry shields, indicative of some additional prowess in melee, which must’ve made them an even more enticing proposition for a general hiring mercenaries for campaign. Their finest hours came when Alexander the Great hired Cretans directly into his army to support its unbeatable phalanx. Commanded by Clearchus, 500 Cretans accompanied the Macedonian phalanx into battle at Granicus, off-setting the Persians' numerical superiority on the day and enabling Alexander’s subsequent victory. Whereas the Romans didn’t traditionally use archers in their forces, once they conquered Greece Cretan archers began to appear as auxiliary troops in their armies. Notably, they fought in Caesar’s campaign in Gaul against Vercingetorix, causing him to rally the best archers the tribes could provide to range against them.
  2. Mostly of devs are agreed with this?
  3. I need three variations. The conical but with Greek style. Having the conhead short cone less tall, with Greek cheek protection and les pronunciated neck protection. The cheek protection must be similar to your recent work with Agema. The cone top top must be short , less pronunciated like this.
  4. @wowgetoffyourcellphone I ask to Stanilas make a helmet for them. Now is considerate placeholder.
  5. @wowgetoffyourcellphone You mean this. The "Neocretan canon" was a standard model for a lot of greek warriors, expecially from the isles and the Western and Southern Anatolian coastline. It consisted in a light equipment (compared to the hoplite one), that favoured skirmish or in any case a maneuverable approach to the fight. Infantry with different kind of thyreos shield, peltast-like skirmishers and archers were all aspects of different "Neocretan" warriors.
  6. Indeed but the conical form must be preserve. The helmet need more Hellenistic but Syrians have years using conical helmet even before Rome exist.
