  1. I've seen a few Youtube videos now where new players mistake the "Mill" for the food dropsite. This is somewhat understandable since folks associate "Mill" with the processing of grain (see also: Age of Kings) more readily than with the processing of wood and other materials. So, I propose to rename the "Mill" to "Storehouse." I think it removes the "grain" association in people's minds.
  2. Check this out: http://www.arkive.org/nile-crocodile/crocodylus-niloticus/ Includes some possibly useful videos.
  3. No, this is an excellent find! Thank you for sharing. It will be very useful for animators.
  4. see: template_unit_mechanical_siege_ram.xml <RestrictedClasses datatype="tokens">Organic</RestrictedClasses> <PreferredClasses datatype="tokens">Gates Structure</PreferredClasses> Replicate this. This is how it's done for what you are talking about in this thread. In the example you give with your siege tower, you would put "Support" where "Organic" is in my example.
  5. They are coming. It is a large task and will take a long time.
  6. Great job, micket. Though, I think the final texture could be as small as 256x256.
  7. This is actually being reserved for some civ bonuses or team bonuses. ROMANS TEAM BONUS ΒΆ TB1 Name: Socii. History: Being allied with Rome came with great benefits (as well as great peril). Effect: Allied citizen-soldiers gain a +10% attack when in Roman territory.
  8. Something like: <RestrictedClasses datatype="tokens">Structure</RestrictedClasses>
  9. Not sure about the opacity, but you can set the actor to not cast a shadow.
  10. I think he means them to be purely eye candy. Thing is, that type of thing is better for a game like Settlers, not 0 A.D., where you control all your units for very specific purposes.
  11. Yep, that's the general idea. You make all these little choices that make no two battles exactly alike. You civ is slightly different each time you play based on the choices you make while playing.
  12. I could see a distinction between "Town Bell" vs. "Retreat". Town Bell could make units garrison inside the nearest garrisonable structure, while "Retreat" would do something similar, but they'd instead just congregate outside the nearest Barracks, Fortress, Civic Center (or maybe Temple for succor and healing?). Two different commands with different uses. And btw-- Irish Wolfhounds or their precursors, IIRC, are accurate to the period, so we're definitely keen on including them. Perhaps as two different types of War Dogs to choose from (I like the general concept of choice). Could choose between unlocking Mastiffs or unlocking Wolfhounds to breed. One could be good vs. support units and cavalry, while the other good vs. support units and ranged infantry. Depending upon who your opponents are you would unlock one war dog over the other.
  13. I'm not sure what "set smooth" means in the context of Blender, but "smoothing groups" on a model exported from 3DS Max work just fine in the game. Not sure if they are the same thing though.

  15. Needs replaced, definitely. Please continue on crocodile, micket, if you please.
  16. Inorite? Imagine if he had the graphics options enabled. Would have looked stunning on the right map. And it's good to see the main menu working at least somewhat how we planned on multi-monitor.Another new YT video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCvx5FOovgg
  17. This generally debated amongst the team. Some are for it, some against. Might add them as a scenario-only faction. We'll have to see. I've had the idea to do this for a long time now. Kind of like "Ragnarok" in Age of Mythology--would turn all the Roman player's citizen-soldiers into Marian Legions. On it. Market: <Identity> <Civ>rome</Civ> <SpecificName>Mercatus</SpecificName> <History>Rome had many markets, each specialized in the commerce of different goods and services. The Forum Vinarium sold wine, while the Forum Holitorium sold vegetables, and the Forum Boarium dealt with the buying and selling of cattle. The Forum Cuppedinis was known to have had a wide selection of goods. Markets were also known as "macella" (sing: macellum), where trade and money lending took place.</History> </Identity> Civic Center: <Identity> <Civ>rome</Civ> <SpecificName>Forum</SpecificName> <History>A Roman forum was the center of a city's commercial and public life. The most famous of which was in Rome herself, the Forum Romanum.</History> </Identity> Still debating this. It is disputed whether Basque is related to ancient Iberian languages at all. But I guess Basque would be better than Spanish. Coming for Alpha 14! They won't look pretty though (not yet, still need models), but they'll be there.
  18. Here's a guy on a triple monitor setup:
  19. Committed tons of new shields. Great job so far guys. Normal mapping is very difficult to see, so much so that it's not really worth it to put them on the shields.
  20. Tried my hand at adding a few to the game. They look great man.
  21. Disagree on 6. Since we split out the Greek sub-factions into their own factions, the Athenians, Macedonians, and Spartans play completely different than if they had remained as one generic Greek civ. The uniqueness of the Iberians is not impacted by splitting up the Celts and Hellenes, nor in adding Mauryans or any other civs,
  22. Can probably do that soon. Didn't want to distract from the Ptolemies.
  23. Excellent work on the PSDs, Art Dept Leader Enrique! I think #12 can be the basis for a new Macedonians civ emblem. Everything is awesome, except the Eagle (#2, #13, #14), methinks. I think Lion's eagle has a better shape. Lion, could you post a PSD with just the eagle on its own layer all by itself? Just the vector (no layer styles).
