  1. Each mesh gets its own actor, for non-boring reasons. They can then be propped together.
  2. I don't think the gradients look "weird" at all. Hmph. We should stay away from flat blacks and grays when we can. A gradient is more visually interesting and breaks up the columns without using boring vertical lines.
  3. Looks cool. I think it could probably have more stuff like this: The soldier dudes lining the bottom. It also looks more like a monumental gateway than a palace.
  4. That's fine, but I think they could still used updating or various sizes.
  5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3avWRyWGcM
  6. Also, Pureon, maybe create a couple different-looking button designs we can choose from?
  7. Yep! This. I think the entire Diplo screen should just be a lot bigger, to give more room for usability. Use nice big easy-to-see check marks or Xs. The Tribute buttons should be bigger and accrue the amount for each click, then there should be buttons at the bottom of the screen that say "Accept" and "Cancel", replacing "Close." The changes to diplomacy and the tributes made should not enact until "Accept" has been clicked.
  8. Someone could make a 3D model of the eagle in blender for some nice renders, usable in a logo. Similar to how the newer Hellenistic shield textures were done.
  9. We need a name for the Mauryan Blacksmith building. Any ideas?
  10. I would say to look at it from the other way: Disabled in Atlas by default, with a 'Flatten' button in the UI to flatten the terrain beneath the selected building. Just an idea. (Posting this from the balcony of my condo overlooking the Gulf of Mexico!)
  11. "Hellenic style" is in a phalanx. Anyway, I already changed them from pikes to spears in the SVN.
  12. Some have taken it upon themselves to design their own random map scripts. The ones listed in this thread are the "official" ones.
  13. May I suggest in Atlas (and I assume in the rest of the code) changing "Water colour" to "Water depths" and "Water tint" to "Water shallows." Seems more accurate to what is happening.
  14. Acquired a new laptop. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834314004
  15. These looks fantastic, m8. I have no real problem with the running animation. It looks really natural, almost like you're motion capturing. Superb animating. Care to post some files so our other artists could take a look at them in Blender and see if they are easily exported to the game?
  16. Looking great, m8. Maybe a couple more player color shields, or a payer color stripe, or both.
  17. Gameplay-wise, this is something that makes sense to me and would make Wonders unique to 0 A.D., using 0 A.D.'s dynamic territories to full effect.
  18. These are super cool, LordGood. I'm not sure if they'll end up being the "final" portraits that "ship" with the game, but they are much better than what we have now. I'd like for you to continue to hone your style toward something slightly more realistic. This is more of a "serious" game and I feel like these portraits belong more in a game like Age of Empires Online. The one that rams this home specifically is the Cart Priestess, but the others give the feeling too. I'll add these all to the SVN repository and you can see how they look! I also think the backgrounds may be too bright and saturated to fit with the tech icons. One request I have would be to make the "player color" of the ship portraits blue instead of red. Helps carry the "watery blue" theme of their portraits.
  19. Because desert peoples hired themselves out as mercenaries in Ptolemaic armies.
