Hello Brother Impeached. Long time no see. I wish your site had more info on actual gameplay mechanics, but perhaps that's just the hobbyist game developer in me talking.

0 A.D. will be infinitely easier to mod than AOE3.

My ideal RTS would include elements of "Age of Empires", "Rome:Total War", and city-builders, all wrapped up into an MMO.

Well, we have a new paradigm in mind. We'll debut it once we get to that point. Right now it's a simple queue. But our training concept we want to implement is pretty cool.

Well, if there were fewer units (they were grouped into battalions) forcing you to task them to attack the enemy wouldn't be a problem. But I do like AOK's monks. Those guys rocked.

I think what he means is in 0 A.D. econ units are military units, so they actually fight back.

If we add any additional features from other genres, they will have to come some time after the 1.0 release of the game. The current game design is nearly complete, with only some filling-in required when we run across something not thought of in the game design document.

Welcome to the status of ex-lurker, GPNM! If we were to add elements from other game genres to 0 A.D., they'd most likely come from the RPG, MMO, and/or the city-building genres. Like you said, adding elements of FPS in a game doesn't necessarily make it better. Rise & Fall is pretty mediocre and the FPS elements didn't really help.

Traders need implemented (traveling between Markets), Siege engines need implemented, garrisoning, ships, better pathfinding, high level AI, and formations need implemented too.

There are a lot of features to implement as well.
