  1. Haha, likewise Michael. A xiphos or a kopis/makhaira. Nice sword, nonetheless. Looking forward to seeing the next piece of equipment you get, Paul!
  2. I think he's referring to a little sneak-peak view of a certain map that comes up when you select it when setting up a game. Like in AOE3, where you see the outline of a certain area in the Americas, ala Rockies or New England. I doubt you guys have figured all this out yet, though.
  3. We really just say 'soft drink' here, occasionally sliding out a 'soda' but that's quite rare. Usually most people refer to the soda by its brand name. Quite interesting, isn't it?
  4. I'd like to know that too, but I think it may be too early now for anything to be concrete. Not sure how you can play RaF for so long... the campaign was the only thing I really liked about it, which is rare for an RTS these days. Whatever floats your boat, of course.
  5. To my understanding, that's a no - the Persians are the Achaemenid Empire in the game. There wasn't enough time in the Achaemenid timeline (it practically ended upon Darius III's defeat) to show major Hellenic influence, though of course Persians and Greeks alike had shared culture for years beforehand. I'm not going to spoil anything for anyone who doesn't know, but the Persian buildings I've seen are, to me, the most interesting and unique in the game.
  6. I can assure you, from what I've heard of it, it's a very cool showcase indeed. (haha Michael, I think we're both Spartan kings now...)
  7. I don't mind bloom when it's not overused. But in AOE3, it's almost unbearable.
  8. I don't think there's ever been a point where you'd get a 'reply in seconds', few forums are that large. Actually, I've found this forum to be a little more active than usual as of late. Of course, getting new active members wouldn't hurt.
  9. Heh, it's no biggie though... just for Laconophiles ala myself.
  10. That was awesome. Did you see the guys tattoos? Has a couple of hoplites on one delt, and an aspis on the other. Pankration seems a lot of fun... hmm, I think I have to save up some money for a good aspis and kopis too. This is the only part I didn't like, because I'm a geek and know the lambda wasn't at Thermopylae.
  11. Heh, I've already added you as friends.
  12. This is going to be awesome.
  13. Aw, what about the Cheiroballistae in AOM:TT? hehe. Not that it matters of course, but it'd be pretty cool to see.
  14. I think this would be cool. Would add even more realism to the game, and a more unique feeling to each unit. Next thing you know, we'll be asking for individual traits, Total War style.
  15. We know Gioi from the romanarmytalk forums, where 0 A.D. has been discussed a little here and there.
  16. Good to see you here, Gioi!
  17. I still haven't seen it, no cinema in my town, heh... and a long drive to the closest one (200km). Hopefully I can go next week, just need some cash.
  18. With luck, modding 0 A.D. should be much easier than the average RTS, and so should be a good stepping stone for new-modders. Since the Bronze Age is such a cool though sometimes overlooked time period, I'm sure a lot of people would love to see it in game.
  19. Now, the Indians would be awesome! Maybe some of these 500-1BC era civs could make it into a mod or (big) patch once the game is released. Agreed that the Scythians, Thracians, Lydians and Han would also be especially refreshing to see. Also Pontus, the only time I've seen them in a game was in R:TW, and they could have been done much better, IMO.
  20. I'd certainly like to see something like that done (similar to 'hairy' Celt edit, Michael ), as long as it doesn't make units too hard to recgonize. For non-professional armies, it certainly makes sense to see a variety of different people.
  21. I was talking to Paul yesterday about how more of these would be great reads. Especially with '300' being released, articles on the Persians and Hellenes would be wonderful.
  22. I agree, Rainer. Til then we'll have to settle for the Hellenic peltastai in part 1, but they seem really cool too. Nice avatar!
  23. This is an excellent article, though it would have been nicer to highlight more of the greater achievements of the Celts, such as their impressive pre-Roman roads. More 'misconception' articles about other ancients would also be greatly interesting!
  24. Heheh, I love the Streets of Rage serious... serious nostalgia. Something very retro gaming about 300, which may explain another reason why I've been looking forward to it so much. Anyway, it's not released for another month or so in Australia... so I'm going to organize a date to go see it, maybe with a few mates. Should be a lot of fun. Thanks for the reviews! Oh! A question. Are the Thespians in it? There's a page dedicated to their sacrifice in the comic, so I hope they're given respect in the movie, otherwise I'll be a little disappointed. I actually liked the designs of the allied Greeks in the comic more than the Spartans.
