I'm using A19, and I experience lag/crashes and any map (including non naval maps) since they contain more than 1 AI petra bot. There should also be a safer/more direct way to report bugs to the dev team ? A19 (release 17298-P), Linux. OpenGL Drivers : 3.0 Mesa 10.1.0; OpenGL 3.0 Mesa 10.1.0 Video Mode : 1280x1024:24 I modified the map according to more accurate oceanographic topographic informations (I tried to do my best). So far I tested a modification of my scenario with 1 AI, and I succeeded (I won the scenario). That was really fun even if it probably requires some little adjustments and balance, but as my goal is to create a 2AI scenario, so these adjustments are useless. I also created a skirmish from that map for testing purposes. My .zip files are ready to post, but I still can't upload my map yet. I would love to have some feedback, especially to have some advises and help on the JS part, I'll explain what I have in mind and what help I need when I will be able to post the scenario and when other player can try the map. Loki1950 Posted March 13, 2016 Report Share Posted March 13, 2016 Hi From the crash report it looks like it's running out of memory trying to render the scene and you don't have to post the whole log just the interesting HTML file that's a filtered one with only the errors,your system_info.txt file says you have an integrated GPU how much memory do have assigned to it in your BIOS that might be where to start to remedy this. The game uses about 30% of my CPU and 50% of memory. The GPU/CPU ratio is changed dynamically, so if I have free resources on my CPU, it should be allocated to the GPU when needed. But anyway I tried to change the GPU modes, to some more graphical-performance profiles. I also tried to manually tweak the GPU ratio, increase GPU memory and frequency, but it didn't increased the stability with 2AI bots. I also tried to remove some graphical features like shadows, sea depth, etc etc, to lower the graphical usage, but without any positive results. However, I also tried to play the game in an another system, Win-based, with a lower configuration : CPU : x86 Intel Core i5-2557M @ 1.70GHz (1x2x2), 1.67 GHz Memory : 4096 MiB; 2830 MiB free Graphic card : Intel Intel R HD Graphic family OpenGL Drivers : 3.1.0 Build 8.15.10.2559;IG4ICD64.dll (8.15.10.2559) Video Mode : 1600x900:32 As you see, the configuration is much lower than mine, with a higher graphical need (Video mode with higher resolution, higher color depth), and the system has an integrated GPU too (Intel HD Graphic family, even poorest but same technology). However, on this poor system, the game (same release), works quite well even with 2AI bots (the animations are not as good, the game seems to have a lower display frequency or something). But no lags or crashes with the game on this OS version. So it seems to be related to the system version rather than any particular hardware specifications. Maybe the game is less optimized on Linux-based systems ? Maybe it is related to the open GL drivers available on both systems ? Maybe are they any other bugs ? By the way, what are the minimum and recommended hardware specifications for the this game ? What GPU in term of memory (32 ? 1024 ??) and frequencies (700 Mhz ? 2.4 Ghz or even more ?) are needed ? Is it necessary to have such a high hardware spec for this game ? I am not a specialist, but I can play other games that seems to need more resources than 0AD on both systems, without any crashes. That would be nice if I could play 0AD without destroying my whole bios settings, without lowering the performance on my other applications. As 0 A.D. doesn't use multiple cores yet (at least not for the intensive tasks), you only can count the speed of a single core. And in your case, 1.7 GHz isn't that much faster than 1 Ghz. On this low config system, I didn't experienced any freezes/crashes. Just some lag. On the Linux-based system where I experienced and reported the lags/freezes/crashes, I have a multi core @ 3.10GHz (so let's say 3.10Ghz), and 3100MB of free memory prior launching the game. I would assume that the js engines for windows and linux would probably be different, which could explain the discrepancy. I have no idea how that works though. I tried to launch a game, pause it at start, and wait for some time (30-60 minutes), then unpause and really play the game. The game freeze and crashes much more faster in this situation. So it appears that the game slowly eats all the memory in a much eager way than he should. So when I play games, especially with multiple AI, in the end the game will always lag, then completely freeze. I can play short games with 1-2 AI, but I will never see the end of a match with more AI. So all the lazy comments stating my problem is just a config issue, and telling that the minimum recommended specs for the game are not accurate (yes thank you, I know these specs are indicative, but I have more than 2x the minimum specs, so it would be much more than unaccurate) are counter productive. It seems that it is easier for a few devs/contributors to deny, reject or mock any attempt of newcomers to make the game better rather than listening, trying to understand and eventually cheer up any positive initiative (even if unperfected). I think you're doing a huge error by acting this way. Especially for an open-source, collaborative project. The most valuable thing for such project is the man power. Also, I don't think anyone of the people who have replied in this thread have English as their first language, so things are most likely not expressed as well as they should and it can be easy to misunderstand. There is some issue with AMD cards (I can't find the ticket so fast) which is being worked on (by rewritting the render engine) but since you didn't post your full system info and didn't check what's the performance bottleneck by using F11 in-game it's hard to say anything about your issues.
