Hi, you asked the first question, my answer is: about the version of the game is the latest version: Alpha XIII: of Magadha.

Which version of the game was the save game saved with? Since the game is changing it's impossible for us to ensure that save games saved with one version of the game can be opened in another version (and it might change even from one SVN revision to the next if the changes are big enough).

I can confirm the JavaScript errors (new game in rev13319, play for some time, save game, exit, load game, errors), but I don't get a crash. If I continue playing as the JavaScript errors pile on until JavaScript runs out of memory, see http://feneur.com/stuff/wfg/interestinglog.html

Do you get those with other bots than Aegis? I believe there is a known issue with Aegis not serializing (saving) its data properly yet.

Did not get it with qBot, and since the error explicitly mentions API v3 I'm not too surprised about that :P We should definitely not make Aegis the default AI if it can't work with saved games though, so either this should be fixed before Alpha 13 or Aegis should not be the default AI.

This doesn't look related to AI in any way, more an issue with that system.

The first crash is trying to read an invalid zip file (our saved games are stored as zip files). Can you find the matching .0adsave in My Documents\My Games\0ad\saves and rename it to .zip to see if you can open it?

The second crash indicates a permissions issue. Where is your "%localappdata%\0ad\cache" folder located? How about My Documents\My Games\0ad? Can you confirm that your user account has read/write permissions on those locations?

If it's not that, how much disk space do you have available on that drive? There's something odd about your Windows setup or system.

Err, actually the error messages are really not that trivial to fix (basically they'd require making it serialize/deserialize fully, more or less). At least I believe. I can give if a look if it's considered nice enough that Aegis fails silently to make it default, else it's probably not worth it.

Have qBot be default again if this is bad enough, then (should be trivial enough in the current SVN).

I'm not 100% sure but I think I have added this to Aegis' description though. Will check.

BTW, this would need to be verified too, but I'm fairly sure while qBot doesn't give error messages, deserializing it is also not that nice, so we probably shouldn't pretend too much that saved games with AIs work.

Yeah, qBot uses a hack to get around the serialization issues with AIs. until we extend the serializer to support them. I think the most important thing is not to throw a bunch of errors at the user for doing a "normal" task :) IMO it's ok if the AI has to restart when loading a saved game, if it avoids these errors, unless or until it can be properly fixed.

Agreed :) It's one thing if something doesn't work perfectly (0 A.D. is still an Alpha after all), but something completely different if it doesn't work at all. Especially if it can be solved as relatively simple (at least I assume it is) as having the AI treat a saved game as a new game :)

Not exactly relatively simple, but not too hard, so it should be fixed in the latest SVN. Requires an autobuild but I haven't run one yet as perhaps it would be worth waiting for other commits?

Basically I hacked together serialization for the shared script, which makes Aegis serialize properly. it's fairly hacky. Not sure how well the AI will react, but it loads and resumes playing. It makes the saved games slightly heavier, but not significantly. I tested serializing Aegis, qBot and No AI at the same time and it worked (along with each alone), so I assume it's working alright.

I won't be available for too much debugging though, so if it should actually fail, feel free to revert those changes.
