For the color I might do a metallic iron sort of color, since the Hittites were known for their early development of iron working...

Just a thought though...

Also:

Really great building references: http://www.hattusadaikigun.com/eng/hattusa.html

Zophim? I need to see this units.

I will try to get a preliminary list posted soon. My basic plan for now is to:

(1) more or less finish the Assyrian civ doc,

(2) revisit the Israelite civ doc and make some changes,

(3) work on the Egyptians and Nubians,

(4) bring the basic civ docs for the Phoenicians and Sea Peoples up to speed.

But I definitely plan to address the Hittite units list shortly. :)

Hittites should probably have a few chariots, and no form of directly mounted cavalry. The Hittites fell before the rise of cavalry though they mastered chariots and the Kikkuli Texts are a testament to that.

As a note, for bonuses, consider a bonus to the women: Hittite women were said to have much better rights than most civilizations of the time and for a few millennia afterwards.

I know I've seen more about this, but the video I'm thinking of may have been taken down.

For the Hittites they could have a better ram than the log;  although Hittite rams were probably used to strike wall ramparts rather than gates (and so were the assyrian tower rams).

Description of Ḫattušili I's siege of Ursu:

https://www.academia.edu/23917712/Ancient_Near_Eastern_Battering_Rams_Questioning_their_Penetrative_Power_and_Target_Location

Quote

“They (the besieged) broke the battering ram. The king was furious, his face was unpleasant: ‘They are always bringing me foul news! ... You shall not continually slack off! Construct a battering ram of Hurrian type and let it be put in place. Make a “mountain” (ramp) and set them up. Cut a great battering ram from the mountains of the city of Haššu and let it be put in place. Begin to pile up earth. When you are nished let each take his place. Let them (the enemy) give battle, but their strategy will be foiled’.”

No further description, but it might have resembled the rams in earlier levantine seals (Assyrian ram might be good enough placeholder).

Siege towers are also mentioned in the same siege.
