Sighvatr
Yeah, vines and moss would look nice, as well as mold and mildew at the bottom edges near the ground. That would look weird in a snow-themed environment.
feneur
That would look weird in a snow-themed environment.Snow will probably not be properly included in part one as it would require a whole new set of textures for all buildings. And in other words, if/when snow is included it will require a whole new set of textures (maybe as an extra layer above the current, but still), so we shouldn't let thoughts of snow hinder anything now. lilstewie
Incorporate railings too.I believe these are railings. Very popular it seems.Huge stone railings.Regular ones would obviously be made out of wood. Edited October 3, 2012 by lilstewie
lilstewie
You guys made the civic center look a lot like the gate. Lolz.
lilstewie
Here's an idea. Instead of the grand arch which in my opinion looks a little off. Maybe add this gate structure in the front and back. With tall gates with spikes.^^^This image literally is a siege on a fort or city. Pretty darn rare to find something like this from ancient India.Basically squishing the gates together with the towers. Enrique
Thanks for your suggestions lilstewie I've made the changes. There are no shields for Mauryans yet so I'm giving a try. I found some shield patterns and shapes on the civilization thread, is there any other historical information/references regarding their patterns/symbols/materials? Ludo38
Enrique, that's a very good start !! I love how they look...You make that on Gimp ?
Enrique
That image is a blender render. I'll use that to make the shield texture, it'll give the texture some shadows and fake volume. But yeah, I always use Gimp, the textures used are done with it

That's the pattern I see on most shields. Here are some shield examples from the reliefs. If you look closely the pattern is same as "a" shield.I've seen a lot different shield/pattern designs from that time period, but those examples are the most common I've seen. Here's another example. Enrique
Thanks lilstewie! I'll make some more shapes following those references EDIT: Anyone read anything about the materials used to make the shields?I'd like to know if those "stars" on the shields were painted decorations or has something to do with the actual structure of the shield. I'm sure they're painted in.(patterns)<--- I doubt you'll find much info about that. Edited October 12, 2012 by lilstewie
lilstewie
Here's a Buddhist symbol I see a lot. I see it used as standard, decoration, etc from time to time.http://en.wikipedia....ki/Three_JewelsDharmachakra(Ashok Chakra) and the Triratna seem to be important symbols. Enrique
Why am I thinking of Star Wars? Hahahahaha I thought on the rebel faction also xDHere's the last update before working on shields/weapons & other props for Mauryans. They'll be useful to use as decoration in military buildings and final details. If anyone has any objections regarding the colors it's time to complain before calling the texture finished ^^

Mythos_Ruler
Other than the scale of things being a bit "off", I think the texture is looking fine. I could use some more "mold and mildew" at the bottom of the plaster walls texture though.

Enrique
My opinion: I just hate this pattern. That yellowish wood pattern is off scale at the moment (the pattern is shown better in other buildings) and it is taken from the same show you quoted.take a look

Adi12
Who are the guys with shaved heads around the 18 min mark? Those people were Brahmin ministers, Brahmins were both minsters and priests. The tuft of hair is called a sikha, almost all Brahmins of that time wore it. Chanakya with his sikha.
