  1. Brilliant, thanks for the quick response.

With the verbs ("attack", "dig", "farm", "march"), what form should the Greek be? Is it supposed to be a statement, "I am attacking" or "we are attacking", or a command, "attack!", or something else? The Greek form to translate each of these is different, so I need to know which is intended.

I didn't write the voice list myself, but I'm assuming it's the unit being clicked/ordered that is talking. So it would be in future tense:

    "I will attack"

    "I will dig"

    "I will farm"

    "I will march"

On pronunciation, do you want to use the correct pronunciation as reconstructed by historical linguistics, or a simpler, more Modern Greek pronunciation? If you would like the correct pronunciation, the transliteration system needs to represent all the features of Ancient Greek pronunciation. Several features are missing from the transliteration, including long vowels and different types of pitch accent. These features are present in Ancient Greek, though not in Modern Greek. (That is, in Modern Greek all vowels are short, and there is only one type of accent, stress accent.) Do you want an accurate historical pronunciation, or a simpler one that is closer to Modern Greek? Either way, I can help out.

I should have mentioned that the voice list uses the ancient Attic dialect. I'd assume we are aiming for the correct Ancient Greek pronunciation - could someone on the team please confirm :)

  2. Bug report: On Arcadia II set qBot as Player 1 (Hellenes), and yourself as Player 2 (Celts) - qBot does nothing, the starting units just stand in their starting positions. When I move an attack force into their territory, they garrison in the CC and only then begin working/building when they ungarrison. I've tried it 4 times, each time with the same result.

  3. ...So, may I have a list of what all you'd like me to say for the game? :P

We'll probably ask you to start work on the Greek voice list as that's already partly implemented into the game. I've posted the list here in the hope that our Ancient Greek translations can be verified by the online community. Have a think about those for now (and if required look into Ancient Greek pronunciation) :)

  4. We would like the community's help in reviewing our translations below. If you have a strong understanding of Ancient Greek could you please go through the list and offer any suggestions or additions you think we should make.

  5. There is a huge exploit now to use against qBot that is crippling for it.

Right now, qBot garrisons all of its females and a lot of its soldiers whenever I send only a few soldiers into its base. This cripples qBot economically, as the units will remain garrisoned as long as I have my little raiding party in its base. Secondly, if a garrisonable building is already full, females will continue to crowd around this building and wait to be slaughtered by my men. Both behaviors are extremely damaging to the qBot player.

I've noticed this too. Unfortunately qBot performed much better without garrisoning

  6. Do you want to copy a column from the table in this post?

In firefox you can select cells with pressed 'ctrl' key, other browsers can have other methods.

Thanks fcxSanya, that'll work for now :)

Do we want any other voice sounds that aren't on the list?

Unless someone can think of a better way, I'm going to post this on the forum:

  7. Thanks for the summary ;)

    Some possible additions:

    • Place foundations in safe areas - It shouldn't place new foundations where the enemy has already destroyed multiple building attempts.
    • Long range siege defense - It should be able to defend itself better against rock throwers.

qBot is already doing really well - It's much less predictable and does expand throughout the map (y)

  8. Here they are! :)

Sounding a lot better buddy (y)

My Lord.wav - This recording has a sound click near the beginning, when you say the letter 'D'. Audacity's effects like 'Click Removal' may help, but I suggest you re-record it.

Carthage Must Be Destoyed.wav - Sounds good. You may want to say it with more emotion to emphasis it's a strong call to action.

Your new microphone has definitely helped remove the sound errors I noted a few weeks ago. Very impressive :)

  9. I honestly think we are pushing each civ's individuality now. Mythos is putting a lot of effort into making the civs unique, and once technologies are added, the unique characteristics will be heightened.

By removing the 3 Carthaginian embassies we'd be removing uniqueness, I'd like them to stay personally.
